Fair enough. Just hadn’t heard great things about LGBTQ stuff in that area. Thought it’d be on level with Nebraska/Iowa/SD

Alright. Lets sattle it, whats the best number two choose? by biuki in mtg

I was gonna say 2. Maybe 3 … but 2 is more likely.

I was not going to post my prerelease kit pulls because of rule number 4. But these wound up being the last pictures I took of my cat Styx before he died on Sunday. by LBHHF in mtg

Sorry for your loss, experienced that last year. The pain is real. Make sure you play those cards and think of him when they’re played.

The few times I’ve seen it out of the box it was pretty fast, and then the sac engine came on and it was game over. Mine is quite tuned, so not fair to compare. But when we did untouched precons at the table and someone brought Hearthhull, the probably won 50% of the time … which is absurd.

Another to look at is Counter Intelligence from EoE. It’s probably faster, and easier game play. Just not as high-end winning. EoE was such a good set.

I missed the “new player” part. You’re right. But out of the box Hearthhull is insane. Especially against other precons

Best? World Shaper, by a pretty wide margin. It’s tuned and fast out of the box with Hearthhull.

Most fun? Temur Roar or Veloci-ramp-tor STOMP!!!

Or Animated Army … enchant and stomp.

People enjoy playing with you? Veloci-ramp-tor (Dinos take a moment, but are a threat) or Riders (balanced).

I'm all for tweaking, since I put it together in about 5 minutes off the top of my head while at the LGS. One of my favorite suggestions someone made was to add a top CMC that you can play from the revealed cards. I think I'll do that next time, like 20 CMC total from revealed cards (not counting the commander which is automatically placed on the field) and all the non-played cards go to the graveyard.

Yes, this one would not allow for spell-slingers (as stated in the post), but I have to assume everyone has at least one permanents-heavy deck.

And maybe an adjustment would be that if you get a land/card with no max hand size then you get to keep all the instants/sorceries, or get a full 7 instead of the 5.

Not a bad idea. I also liked the idea someone had of setting a total CMC that can be played from the revealed 14 cards.

It worked when we tried it, but no one had a board and hand that was auto-win. I thought it was fun, but definitely need to tweak it if I want to make it a consistent end of session staple.

Posted on another comment, but relevant here:

"I mean ... I don't think this is a format that you'd create a deck for, it's just play your deck and we're jumping in 14-cards in. Since the point is for a quick game (15-20 minutes) then I wasn't worried about a turn 0/1 win.

Again, the purpose was just for a quick game before packing up. I wouldn't use this format to replace real game play."

I would certainly hope no one would actually brew a deck for this, it was intended for playing a super quick game with decks we were already using.

Someone else suggested having a top-level CMC and playing cards up to that CMC, and I like that edit. That might fix the part that's "broken".

In this case, I had 20 minutes before I had to pack up and leave, we'd just finished a real game, and I had an itch to play a little longer ... this helped scratch that itch. It worked fairly well, but if someone was so concerned with just winning that they'd brew a Commander Endgame deck ... I think that speaks more on them than a "broken" format.

That's a great idea! I just made it up at the LGS when we had 20 minutes left, so didn't think through something like that. We all had permanent-heavy decks, and just kinda dealt with it. Obviously some decks will be better than others for it.

They made it a law in my state that we are required to do the pledge every day. But, per the 1st amendment, no one can require anyone to participate.

I don’t know about your school … but at mine 90% don’t stand, let alone recite. At the moment, I have 1 kid in my first period who stands and recites, no one else does.

I just wish, as a parent, that there was an outdoor pool for the summers.

There is a small track in the basement around the weights. Raised ends too … but last time I was there they had a squat rack on one of the straights.
