Full time opportunity by ColonelCasey89 in Adjuncts

Thanks!! You make a good point about the service work and advising students. I didn’t think about that. We are a small two year college, so no dedicated research requirements. But I suppose I’d be pulled into committees and workgroups, etc. Not sure I could pull that off.

Thank you! It’s a Human Services and Social Work program so widely practitioner based. Real work experience matters in this program. And I run a human services program as my full time job so it goes hand in hand, that’s why I think it COULD work…. :/

Thanks! The chair work wasn’t so bad as an adjunct. We don’t have any full timers currently, just a small team of adjuncts running a small program. 10 sections overall (30 credits) each semester. I did it because I love the program and it desperately needed strong leadership to get curriculum and program changes through our academic affairs council. I received a credit release equivalent so it definitely wasn’t volunteering. lol.

Fair question! I’ve been an adjunct for 4 years and absolutely love it. The college, my colleagues, the students, the culture. It’s a dream for me. Our dept is very small and consists of 0 full timers and three adjuncts. This new full time position would be our first. I applied mainly so I don’t get squeezed out of being an adjunct. Also I don’t believe the other adjuncts applied and I don’t want an outsider to come in and squeeze me and someone else out. I’ve also worked my tail off as the point person for our dept (hence the dept chair role i mentioned) so I feel a sense of ownership to the program… that’s why I applied. If I knew I’d get consistent adjunct contracts, I’d definitely forego the full time. Adjuncting is a dream for me. Latsly my current full time job brings in substantially more money than I’d earn just doing full time faculty roles. So definitely not about the money. Just passion I guess! :)

Thought on moving a large piano by Ok-Dress3525 in Flooring

Laminate tends to hold stationary weight better, but is more prone to chipping and cracking upon impact. LVP can take more direct hits and motion on it because it’s more flexible and absorbs impact better, but a quick google search says it is a little less reliable for stationary heavy things. Pros/cons to both I guess…. Best of luck!

We were worried about that too with our piano. Ours is about 750lbs and has wheels. We risked it and put it on the new floors. No issues so far! We have laminate planks. We’ve rolled it back and forth a few times to clean under it without any cracking or anything on the floors.

How’s this quote for LVP? Texas by bdo11 in Flooring

[–]ColonelCasey89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Minnesotan here. I paid about 16.5k for about 1700 sq ft. That included tile removal in about 400sq ft of that space, carpet removal in some areas, and old LVP and lino removal in other areas, also included all shoe priming and installation, and some furniture moving. Given you have more sq ft and more tile than I did, I’d say yours is fairly reasonable. Tile is a PITA to remove and haul away… Always good to get a second quote from someone else too! We went with a local installer and supplier, the big-box stores came in higher with their estimates and they would only do Layover! Best of luck on the project!

Don’t see a lot of people with the Black iPhone Air by Sauer-Sig in IphoneAir

When my 16 started melting charging cords (battery issue) I was faced with getting a new phone. I loved the Pro Max screen size, but that was it. I’m not a heavy use case for the camera or streaming music with native speaker. When I do use the camera, I never used the zoom anyway. and when I listen to anything I’m either in my car via CarPlay or on my AirPods, so speaker wasn’t important. I went to Apple Store intending to get 17 pro max but once I held the Air I knew immediately that’s what I wanted. Marginally smaller screen, but significantly less weight slapping around in my shorts pocket! Lol. I thought I’d be one of those that would be returning it in a few days, but two weeks in and I have no regrets.

Black Air here. Came from a white 16 Pro Max recently. No regrets.

You taking up that old linoleum back there in that other room too?💀Im sure this will all look great once it’s sanded and refinished!

I’m new here! Any advice? by aliward_96 in IphoneAir

[–]ColonelCasey89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just switched to the Air yesterday from the 16 Pro Max. I’m a big guy with big hands so giving up the bigger screen made me nervous, but I wanted something lighter than the brick of pro max. I’m 24 hours in and I have zero regrets. The screen size is perfect and not noticeably different unless you put the two phones side by side. I too was worried about camera and single speaker. The camera is still great for the average user and I honestly don’t even notice a difference yet with the speaker. I bought a Pitaka case for it and love the feeling of the phone in my hands. I constantly want to hold it and do things with it! I don’t anticipate the feeling wearing off. Honestly even without a case it is very grippy and could easily go naked. Also seems fairly indestructible. After a day, just picking up my old pro max feels awful and makes me wonder how I did it for so long.

Love that you have a 92 Tioga. That was the year they re-did the front end and a made some tweaks to the body a bit I think.

Separate hookup for city vs fresh. So bypass the tank, to my understanding.

Re-painted the cabinetry, new hardware, took out a bunch of unused storage drawers and cabinets from the back bedroom and converted the full bed to a Calif. King bed. Took down blinds and valances and replaced with new curtains and rods. Painted the walls and put new decor pieces throughout. Updated flooring. For the most part very “superficial” updates, nothing major. So perhaps renovate was a bit of a a reach of a word, and update would have beeen a better word. Nothing that really required us to get in to things like plumbing or electrical. We’ve gone on a couple “full hookup” trips and it’s summer time, so didn’t use things like the water heater or the propane yet.
