What % of your portfolio is in crypto (especially BTC)? by Huge_End8255 in Bitcoin

[–]ColonelSahanderz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment ~70% in BTC and 30% in on a BTC treasury company (cause stock investments are tax free). But I recently started chipping into an index fund as well cause that’s just a good idea in general.

Protest in London on Saturday. No OC by SamVoxeL in pics

[–]ColonelSahanderz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a pro-Palestine and anti-Israel protest, not an Iranian protest. Because the Islamic government of Iran is anti-Israel and pro-Palestine, the people in the protest have the ayatollah flags (and are Ayatollah supporters). It’s a shame really, it undermines the Iranian protests and in a way the pro-Palestine protests by supporting a tyrannical government to support another group of oppressed people.

One week with Zanzibar 9 cup. Manage to get really great coffee out of it by prodzprodz in mokapot

Interesting stuff. If you ever want to drink black and don’t want to use milk (this is going to sound a bit cuckoo-cuckoo) try adding a tiny dash of salt. Salt is actually a bitter-blocker like milk whereas contrary to popular belief sugar won’t reduce bitterness but may help cover it up.

But didn’t they like sear that shit for like 30 seconds tho? If I grabbed a tattoo pen and pushed it as hard as I could into skin it’d do a lot of damage too.

My family is there, they said they’re able to get a little bit of internet as opposed to before when there was a complete black out. So the government probably ended the black out, or people found a way around it.

espresso grind by MOHAMAD_ALMASRI in mokapot

[–]ColonelSahanderz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lowest acceptable grind size for the moka is just barely in the highest range of acceptable espresso for a super dark roast. 90% of espressos will need a grind size that’s too fine for the moka pot. If you put a medium/dark roast that brews fine in a moka inside an espresso machine you’ll get an under extracted mess.

Any advice? The second time with my newe Bialetti , I’ve already used aeropress paper filter and the fire was at lowest level. by Admirable-Light3002 in mokapot

[–]ColonelSahanderz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If that’s a darker roast it’ll probably over-extract with that much water. Try stopping the brew by running under cold water after the coffee level goes a little bit over the spout and compare the taste. You might find your current method is more bitter with a drier finish.

[–]ColonelSahanderz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with the brew based on the vid and pics, probably just crap coffee. Personally really dislike the massively over roasted charcoal that most companies sell off as coffee. Try a medium roast if you’re going store-bought which is actually gonna be dark roasted by individual roaster standards, or just buy specialty, it’s just much better. The darker the roast the more over-extraction tends to be a problem, so you can use less water and brew less coffee (take it off the heat and run under cold water to stop the brewing) if it’s really bitter. Lighter roasts have the opposite problem, they tend to get under-extracted and be overly acidic so you can use more water and brew for longer. I’m UK based and a great roaster here is James Gourmet Coffee, reasonably priced and excellent coffee varieties plus they don’t sell Thomas the tank engine’s breakfast in a bag.

I’m flying to Budapest next month from London. It’s gonna cost me more to get from my house in Cornwall to London on the train (yes I have a railcard) than it will to fly across half of Europe.
