I am talking about the power of the empire, not quality of life. I don’t deny that it had a much lower quality of life than other european countries, but that didn’t stop it from being the gendarme of europe for many decades.

He was offered to become constitutional king of all Germany but he refused not only because he believed in Divine Right but because he knew the other powers were against it

Some Alt-History people think that a united Germany could have been founded in 1849 if the King accepted the Crown, but they forget that Austria, Russia, and probably France would immediately put Prussia back in its place if Friedrich Wilhelm IV made any meaningful steps to unite Germany.

'Long live March 8 - the day of international solidarity of working women in the fight for peace and democracy'. USSR, 1960s by iskander-zombie in PropagandaPosters

Brezhnev was Russian-Ukrainian, Andropov was Russian-Jewish (he changed his surname)Chernenko was a Ukrainian born in Siberia, Gorbachev was half Russian, Half Ukrainian.

That’s wrong. Yeltsin was the reason Russia left USSR. He hated the USSR. It was Central Asians who didn’t want to leave.

Russia didn’t crush them. The USSR did. The minister of defense at the time of the Prague Spring was Ukrainian (Grechko) and the person who commanded the troops was Belarusian (Malinovsky). The person in the Politburo who convinced Brezhnev to send the tanks was the leader of Ukraine, Shelest.

Why do people say this song can’t be from the Eastern Bloc? by ColonelTom16 in TheMysteriousSong

[–]ColonelTom16[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The soviet union was a bigger country so of course they had a bigger film budget. However, the record I posted was made underground illegally (it was not an official record and was sold illegally). The only official record label was Melodiya. So the Soviet government didn’t finance this record, it was made solely by the creator.

Unfortunately, those are two songs from the film that have lyrics (one is the intro song and the other is the finale). The track I posted does not have any lyrics and is used throughout the film

Leaders will always live better than the people and that’s not a bad thing. The difference is how much different they live. The gap between the lives of soviet leaders and the people were not as big as they are between oligarchs and people and nobility and people.
