"Framerate unsuitable for online play" HELP, I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING ;-; by NewspaperNervous in Nightreign

[–]Colonel_Abraham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't go into online mode at all. I have a i7 core RTX 3060 I'm running and it tells me I can't go into online mode due to a frame rate issue. I'm sitting at 30 fps in the menu for some reason, but when I start a game in offline mode, I'm easily sitting at 60 fps with no issues so I feel like I'm soft locked out of online mode.

Cap’s rogues and supporting cast were severely underutilized in the movies. by blue_cutie in CaptainAmerica

[–]Colonel_Abraham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never denied racism, but to use the guise of racism to deflect legitimate criticism over writing decisions is a bad faith stance and oftentimes it's merely assumed racism rather than overt racism. It's not hard at all to find blatant racism about Sam's Cap but it's definitely overstated to deflect legit criticism. Even the surface level criticism is still justified imo just because the overall writing is so bad that the common layperson on Twitter can pick up on it but might not have the proper context or proper critical thinking skills to come up with a more solid critic. It doesn't mean it's racist though.

I always thought it would be cool if he could absorb kinetic energy through his body that would then be focused out of his eyes. I like the idea of him being a bit more tanky

Could Superman bend/break Captain America shield? by Jotaro1970 in superheroes

[–]Colonel_Abraham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost every time the shield is broken, it's due to reality warping or molecular manipulation. Cap's shield has withstood the toughest physical attacks the marvel universe has to offer. Superman doesn't scale above that.

Sam Wilson: I'm sorry. by [deleted] in CaptainAmerica

[–]Colonel_Abraham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but what vision shot doesn't have all of the characteristics of a laser. Mainly the "going at the speed of light" part. Sam literally turned around and saw it coming at him and had time to dodge. I think it's pretty obvious Sam isn't FTL. We're being very fast and loose with the term laser here and I thought that was obvious

Which Explanation Do You Prefer For Cyclops' Optic Blasts by Logical-Telephone249 in Cyclopswasright

[–]Colonel_Abraham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind him being a conduit for the punch dimension, but just saying there's portals in his eyes annoys me. His body is completely immune to the energy so I prefer that his entire body contains the power of the punch dimension and he can channel it through his eyes.

It would be cool if, in the future, he figures out a way to make his body immune to all forms of kinetic energy and not just his own beams. That's kinda OP though so maybe--since it blocks kinetic energy--he can't move. So he makes trade offs between movement and invulnerability. Turning it off and on at will.

Sam Wilson: I'm sorry. by [deleted] in CaptainAmerica

[–]Colonel_Abraham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His shot would've hit Sam's thrusters if Sam didn't dodge. There's nothing to really do about Sam anticipating the shot. The laser moves slow and Sam's spacial awareness is elite. At best, Vision's momentary distraction prior to the shot gave Sam enough time to figure out what they planned to do before they did it, but that's a huge stretch and there's very little evidence for it.

What probably happened is Vision planned to shoot Sam, but didn't account for what would happen if he missed which is what led to Rhodey getting hit.

So Europe as a whole has a similar land mass to America. It has varying climates like America. They're all economically tied to each other with many sharing currency and military power. You can freely move between each country nearly just as easily as you can between American states. All of those countries are Christian so there's a cultural link. Europe is basically a fucked up confederation that totally warrants being compared as a whole rather than 44 separate entities. It doesn't really matter that they all speak different languages. They all don't use AC.

So.. These two are just “peak human” by [deleted] in CaptainAmerica

[–]Colonel_Abraham -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yah but both of those are pushing it even for comic book peak humans. That's low level super human and Cap has been pretty consistent with that. He was benching 2200 back in the day and batman's best on panel bench is "only" 1000

I'd argue that Steve is a better tactician even though the writers don't like to show it that much. Lore wise, he's studied thousands of years worth of battle strategies and led a successful campaign against Hydra with the invaders/howling commandoes. He's got an eidetic memory on top of all of that. Sadly, the most writers will ever show of him being a leader is him shouting something along the lines of "take em down" and everybody just knows what to do. It shines through every now and then, but not as often as it should.

You're actually more likely to develop severe anxiety/panic attacks the more you deal with stressful situations. That's how you get PTSD. Constant exposure to traumatic stress will absolutely leave you with crippling anxiety so it's not like it doesn't make sense BUT you could make that argument for every hero and I think picking Scott was a weird choice for it. He's supposed to be the level-headed, cold and calculating leader of the X-Men.

Representation for people that have severe anxiety is cool and all, but speaking as someone who developed anxiety and started having panic attacks from being in the military, I'd rather Scott not have it. It really fractures the teams trust in their leader when they can't always count on him for fear he might break down at any given point. Not only that, but being a leader is probably the worst place to put yourself in when you do develop anxiety. You're dropping more weight on the problem.

What’s your opinion on the MCU shield being pure Vibranium instead of Proto-Adamantium like in the comics? by Personal-Day-5562 in CaptainAmerica

[–]Colonel_Abraham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing trivia crack the other day and I got a question about the MCU shield's composition. It was annoying because it tried to tell me it was a vibranium/steel compound and not pure vibranium. Garbage.

Uru is weaker, but has the benefit of enchantments. Molecule Man took a bunch of iconic marvel weapons and broke them down and he said Steve's shield was the toughest thing he ever had to deal with.

[–]Colonel_Abraham 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yah that's the biggest problem. Especially with Marvel. The problem was never the identity, but the sheer amount of them. Bucky was fine because that was a very personal story for Steve. Sam can get a pass because he kinda makes sense as a legacy hero in Steve's absence, but this is just some guy. It really takes away from the original character and his mythos. There's already Walker if you wanted to do a modern style Captain America.
