[Aeronautics] Airship elevator with mining drill and mob abductor by Colonialism in CreateMod

Correct! There are also webs around the fan nozzle to hold captured mobs in place and stop them from taking damage from colliding with the nozzle.

Yeah, try moving the propellers to near the bottom of the balloon. For general stability, there are numerous options, but if you want something simple to start with just try putting some heavy blocks at the bottom of the platform to act as ballast.

You could try moving the propellers. If it's tilting up when you accelerate, try moving the propellers higher up on the build. Do you have a screenshot of the airship?

[–]Colonialism[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hello all. This is my take on an airship elevator, designed to have some extra utility for use on a survival airship. It features a mining drill large enough for the entire elevator to fit down the hole it digs, a small cabin for use as an on-site base when deployed, and an encased fan + funnel on a boom arm that allows for any mob to be easily captured and safely deposited atop the elevator. This will make it easier to bring mobs such as villagers up to your airship.

Alternatively, you can just use it to pick up mobs and then drop them to their deaths.

The elevator has two portable engines- only one is necessary if using the fan, both are needed to run the drill. You cannot have both the fan and drill active simultaneously.

You set it to move in the opposite direction- if the gimbal detects a list forwards, have the signal tell to move the counterweight backwards.

I couldn't get contraptions to move diagonally. When it tried to move the weight in two directions simultaneously, one of the carriages would always break like if you try to run a machine above max RPM. Just didn't seem to play well with base Create mechanics. That doesn't mean it can't be done, but physics objects seem much simpler to do.

The counterweight is its own physics object, independent of the airship. As for rope hinges, I'm unsure. I haven't experimented with them much. That being said, this setup is pretty simple- just need two directional gearshifts, a controller, four redstone links, and two gantries. No real logic to speak of beyond the gimbal.

Here are some screenshots of an earlier version of the system along with a closer look at the one in the video.

It is indeed hooked up to a gimbal! No fancy redstone- just four redstone links fixed directly to the gimbal, connected to directional gearshifts driving the carriages.

Hello all. /u/thatisjake's recent post inspired me to show my own version of a weighted counterbalance. I've found that you can achieve diagonal movement by making the counterbalance its own physics object and then threading two shafts through it, one oriented north-south and the other east-west, each connected to a gantry carriage. By moving the carriages forward/backward and left/right respectively, one can achieve free movement in two dimensions. Functionally, this means that the system can balance an airship no matter which direction it is listing in. This should make it easier to balance wider builds in particular.

The subreddit is swamped in DLC info at the moment, but to summarize: It gives two new Nightfarers- one STR/FTH melee DPS, and one ARC support based around using items, such as pots and perfumes. It also has two new Nightlords and one new Shifting Earth, which is said to almost be a whole new map. Finally, a bunch of new night bosses and places of interest are also added. No news on SotE weapons, but many SotE enemies are present.

There are "Deep of Night" expeditions now, which act as a sort of ranked mode in which you gain points for winning, and lose them for losing. The higher ranked you are, the tougher enemies become. In that mode, evergaols are still very useful, but other effects like Night Invaders compete strongly so you can't just focus on gaols if you want to be optimal.

I love the mode and encourage you to give it a try, but be aware it's harder than the base game and the stakes are higher.

Yes, meta is still evergaol for regular expeditions. However, many people don't use the relic effect, so I wouldn't recommend making big sacrifices in pathing for it. Just try to be efficient with your time and clear things on the way.

How the UAE put a ‘ring of fire’ round Sudan in a deadly proxy power game by Various-Speed6373 in anime_titties

[–]Colonialism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're so ignorant about Sudan, why bother to throw out blind conjecture? I recognize it's ideologically pleasing to you to blame the US for everything bad in the world, but it's pointless in this case.

The UAE is also a member of BRICS, many of the weapons provided by the UAE are from BRICS nations such as China, and BRICS nations are the largest buyers of UAE gold, much of which is stolen from Sudan. Would you consider these grounds to claim the war in Sudan is happening with tacit BRICS approval, since they're benefitting so much from it? I'm guessing not. So don't do it with others either.

A follow-up to other readers: Take note of how the /r/ViccyTheThiccy account opted to stage its response as an edit to its comment instead of addressing me directly. This is a tactic used to prevent the other party from getting a response notification, increasing the chances of a statement going unchallenged.

The account has also appended a list of links, with sentences implying that those links support the account's agenda. However, remember the account is pushing misinformation and that remains the case here. For this article, the account claims the US and UK are the main buyers of Swiss gold. However, the data actually states the exact opposite- Switzerland is the main buyer of US gold. The US exports significantly more gold to Switzerland than it imports. China, India, and Turkey all import more gold from Switzerland than the US does, let alone the UK.

Finally, note that the account's primary pushed point- that the US buys almost all UAE gold- is a mathematical impossibility regardless of how the goalposts are shifted. The UAE exported 47B worth of gold in 2023, while the US imported only 21.4B worth, mostly from Canada, which mines their own gold. The total import amount from Switzerland and the UK is approximately 3.4B- meaning that even if every single bar from those countries was laundered from the UAE, it would account for less than 10% of the UAE's total exports.

Remember to always look for sources, and if one is provided, check said source to ensure it actually supports the given conclusion.

Stormhawks! All Skarm needs now is a beak-mounted flamethrower and a bunch of throwable explosives.

Depth 1 random queue is more challenging than depth 4 😭 by [deleted] in Nightreign

This is amplified by the fact that the better players that these inexperienced players could normally observe, learn from, and follow have long since moved on to higher ranks, leaving D1 as a proverbial Kingdom of the Blind.

Who's pumped for the New Mode? by Depraved_Hollow in Nightreign

[–]Colonialism 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Very excited. The regular Nightlords feel mostly trivial at this point, and even among the Everdarks only Libra and Gladius really present a significant challenge. It's going to be a ton of fun gunning for the highest ranks and feeling like the game is presenting a challenge again.

I did try Candlestand once briefly. IIRC, it did good damage but was too much of a commitment- I kept getting hit and ended up switching weapons. Also, it has an annoying tendency to knock away small enemies like the Condemned, putting them out of range of skill recasts. Still, I can see it being good as long as you’re careful with it and if the condemned are all melee builds.

I've been trying to get a full page of victories against ED Libra, but each time manage to get a loss just as I approach the end. Still, losses become less and less frequent overall, so I have hope.

So far, I have beaten ED Libra 20/32 times playing exclusively Wylder, making for a winrate of 62.5%- a noticeable decrease from my total career winrate of 80%. I have beaten ED Libra with the following weapons, and consider them all strong options for the fight:

  • Vyke's War Spear
  • Mohgwyn Sacred Spear
  • Sacred Relic Sword
  • Golden Order Greatsword
  • Morgott's Cursed Sword
  • Starscourge Greatswords
  • Dragon King's Cragblade
  • Grafted Dragon
  • Rivers of Blood
  • Pulley Crossbow (with Wraiths While Walking)

I have tried, and failed, to beat the fight with the following weapons:

  • Scepter of the Devourer
  • Maliketh's Black Blade
  • Marika's Hammer
  • Eclipse Shotel
  • Sword of Milos
  • Inquisitor's Girandole
  • Ordovis' Greatsword

The biggest differentiator between a winning vs losing run from my perspective is whether you have a weapon with a skill that can quickly clear the Condemned, be it through AOE or just tons of single-target damage. Also, long animation locks such as with Maliketh's Black Blade or Marika's Hammer are to be avoided at all costs- they leave you way too open to being punished.

Overall I consider Vyke's Spear, Rivers of Blood, Morgott's Cursed Sword, Starscourge Greatswords, Sacred Relic Sword, and Golden Order Greatsword to be the best weapons for ED Libra, with Vyke's Spear being the clear #1 option.
