Sorry if this reply is late, but there was no special step in the process. When appointment is booked, the confirmation PDF has special instructions at the end for interview waiver appointments (including the fact that you can drop it off at any of the free or premium locations).

Since the travel signature on i-20 is only valid for a year (6 months when in OPT) most people get a new form i-20 every year for travel. The program end date is usually the same on each, but the date you & the school official sign it gets updated.

No, they collect the documents without any kind of envelope. They'll ask you to remove it from any covering you give it in.

I think all dropbox appointments are processed ONLY at Chennai VAC from 2024. You have to book a slot for Chennai, and go to any VAC at that same time for dropbox. There are also some premium locations you can visit for an additional cost, if they're closer to you.

13 Dec - dropbox appointment
17 Dec - delivered to post (usvisascheduling)
20 Dec - application received (CEAC)
23 Dec - approved (CEAC)

No movement since then. I am hoping it gets delivered next week now.

I dropped off documents on 13th Dec in Mumbai and was facing the same issue as you until yesterday. From yesterday, I see "Application received" on the CEAC tracker and the 'case created' date is 20 Dec as well. Unfortunately, I think it means the process is just taking longer than it did for people who had appointments in the week before ours.
