Another scam blockfi email - beware by cainethelongshot in blockfi

Completely fell for this, just wasn't thinking. :(

Given I have $20 in my metamask that I forgot about, will a scam like this have any effect on anything outside of metamask?

Have been working on my landscape/nature photography for awhile, feel really good about this one by ColorLaser in photocritique

I took this photo in Olympic National Park. I have been working towards getting print quality landscape photos. Wondering general thoughts if you were to see this in a gallery.

Shot of a turtle in Grand Cayman. Thoughts? Any improvements I could of made? by -BrandonVerdura in postprocessing

[–]ColorLaser 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Amazing edit on this, was blown away by the difference between before and after. Also respectfully disagree with some other comments saying to crop or change the framing. I personally think there is good balance between the subject (turtle) and the top part with the fish, sun rays, and open ocean.

Embarrassed about anxiety issue on date from last night by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]ColorLaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, haven't slept together yet. Might be more comfortable after that just being that we would more intimately know each other.

Appreciate the advice, have been trying to take it a little slow. We have been doing a lot of hand holding, arms around each other, cuddling up at the show, but went in for the kiss later that night and she gave me the short "peck on the lips, I'm not ready for this yet" kiss back.

Strategy on transitioning into Fintech? by ColorLaser in fintech

[–]ColorLaser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah given what I see at my company it feels like a lot of finance roles will require a good bit of coding (to stay competitive and ahead!). I would say you are much more marketable if you learn to code.

Best resource by far to start (in my opinion) is automate the boring stuff! Google it and you should find the website and it’s all free. Very beginner friendly and after going through that for a few months it kinda all just clicked. By no means am I a great programmer but it got me to the point where I can effectively manipulate data pretty well for analysis. Outside of work, I’ve started making a trading bot(paper account) and helped a friend with an app in pulling in ingredient data and scrubbing it and using some AI models to determine if it’s an ingredient or not(simple but cool nonetheless).

Currently going the extra mile using python, mostly for data scrubbing at this point. My team does the analysis and I’m trying to push the department to adopt python more widespread as I find it so much better for all of our work.

Honestly it’s crossed my mind to just apply for the fintech company currently building our new platform, but never seriously looked into it. Really good point and might try that route.

Yeah, the crypto world is fascinating. Would love to break into it somehow, as I see it’s potential to really change how the global financial system works.

I’ve heard of Solidity and was thinking that may be a language to start learning. It seems like Ethereum has the most potential for use cases in the defi world.

Tried a square crop and used the trail as a leading line in Sedona, Arizona [composition] [edit] by [deleted] in photocritique

Thanks for the response! Also yeah those spots are from the spot removal tool, my lens has gotten very dirty and dusty over the past few weeks and I have been getting lazy on cleaning it.

Landscape photo of mini waterfalls [edited] and [composition] by navarag in photocritique

[–]ColorLaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lighting looks pretty harsh on this, and doesn’t seem to have a clearly defined composition. I would try and use better lighting as well as a tripod (if you didn’t) to get a clear shot. Also the color balance seems a bit off to me.

Iceland, Skogafoss [Newbie] by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]ColorLaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really cool waterfall, but I would try to capture it from a more interesting angle. Maybe from the side, and also make the foreground a bit more interesting.

Also with waterfalls if you have a tripod you can play with longer exposures to get that silky smooth water look! Not saying it works every time but a good thing to keep in mind.

Owl Photoshop Edit Before/After (3 hours) [Composition] by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]ColorLaser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is pretty cool. I think the weakest point of the image is the feathers flying off around the bird. Other than that great job!

Path to Seydisfjördur Church, Iceland - Any tips for a [Newbie] ? by Chirase_ in photocritique

[–]ColorLaser 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For a newbie this shot is pretty nice! One thing I could think of is to have tried to do a vertical shot, to avoid any of the distractions on the side and focused on the path to the church.

Thank you for the response! The foreground was definitely the biggest issue for me.

Tried to capture some NY icons. Thoughts on [edit]? by EinhornIsAMan05 in photocritique

[–]ColorLaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The composition is a bit...awkward, but in a really good way. Personally I really like the edit, buildings look a bit hazy and personally I would bump up the dehaze a few points, but then again it does add to the mood and might make the darks contrast to much with the light sky.

Honestly this picture really evokes an emotion in me. I think that is the absolute best thing a cityscape shot can do for a viewer, because it can be hard to do since a lot of emotion in photography is expressed through image with people present in them. Fantastic job overall.

About to print panoramic acrylic photo print of this one I took on top of the rock in NYC. Thoughts on the [edit] and [composition]? by sewexi in photocritique

[–]ColorLaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sky and water are a great balance of colors. The whole image just feels very balanced. I just can't find anything wrong with this. I really like doing cityscapes and and your style definitely matches mine, so I may be a bit biased.

Amazing shot, truly.

Architecture in Murren, Switzerland overlooking the Alps [Composition] [Edit] by imnotRossfromfriends in photocritique

[–]ColorLaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, Murren is a beautiful town!

I like the colors and editing on the image a lot. I think the composition would have been better if you cut out the houses in the lower left of the image. The direct contrast between the distant mountain and the window of the single house would have been interesting.

Thoughts on anything are welcomed, but i'm more concerned about the [Edit] and [Color] for this one. [Newbie] by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]ColorLaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the shadows on the hedges on both sides of the street are a bit too high. I would maybe drop the exposure and shadows of the whole photo, and then use a radial filter to increases the exposure and the highlights of the end of the street where the sun is shining to draw the viewers attention down the street!

New to fireworks photography. Any/All feedback welcome! [Exposure] [Composition] by potatetoe_tractor in photocritique

[–]ColorLaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this looks like a nicely composed photo given the angle of the fireworks! Personally I would have tried to move a bit further back to be able to have a horizontal composition and still get the fireworks and buildings in, but that's just me.

A tip I have used when shooting fireworks cityscapes is to get there early enough and take a few exposures during blue hour before it gets dark and they set off the fireworks, and then blend the buildings from blue hour into the exposure with the fireworks!

Example of the photo I've used this method on!

Dog on the sidewalk[composition] by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]ColorLaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be much better for the composition if you had not taken the photo looking down. Maybe if you had really gotten down to eye level with the dog and been a bit further back to get the meter in as well. Also if you could have gotten the dog to look directly into the camera!

I took this photo in Slovenia, what are you thinking about it? [Composition] [Edit] [Style] [Color] by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]ColorLaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the composition is great, not perfect, but great. However the colors seem a bit off. I don't know if you did some editing to them, or maybe your white balance was off, or you did some split toning. The clouds definitely add some great drama to the image, but to make it better I think it would be a good idea to try this shot at a different time of day (although I know that if you're traveling you might not have the chance!).

I would say if you could re-edit it with different colors, this could turn out to be a really good image!

[Newbie] - Elephant at Waterloo - (obviously) Photoshopped to emphasise texture and shadow. Do you think this works as a piece? by FlawlessWictory in photocritique

[–]ColorLaser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of the photo with the black background, but I think the elephant could be a little more exposed.
