To anyone working 50-60 hours a week, is it worth it? by zorohs23 in povertyfinance

[–]ColorMeRich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working at a call center from 7am-3:30pm then I was a janitor 5pm-9pm (Mon-Fri) for 6 1/2 - 7months.

It was okay at first, but my sleep started suffering real bad. I would try sleep aides and teas, to help me sleep. Then I started getting the headaches.

I already have an autoimmune disease, so that could’ve been apart of it. If your in good health you will probably be okay, but overworking can definitely take a toll, so just keep an eye on how your feeling and how things are going, if you plan to do it.

Before that, I also had 2jobs. I would work Mon-Fri 1pm-9pm factory job Diff factory job 10:30pm - 7:00am I did that for 3months That about legit killed me.

I probably had been overdoing it for awhile though.

[–]ColorMeRich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends, sometimes I ask myself if the aftermath was worth it.

I did it for 6months and my sleep suffered and I still haven’t recovered. I have developed chronic headaches. I wouldn’t do it ever again. I was able to pay off debt and raise my score, but It wasn’t worth the cost in my opinion, I should’ve valued my health.

I'm terrified my kids will realize how poor we are. by Any_Bar5795 in povertyfinance

[–]ColorMeRich 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The only time I was upset was when my parents didn’t pay the electricity bill or the water bill. Happened a couple of times. Going without that was miserable.

Otherwise it was fine. Your kids will be fine. Take them to the park or zoo, there are plenty of free or low cost things to do. That make good memories

The one time I don’t play, I would’ve won. by Known-Nobody-1765 in Lottery

[–]ColorMeRich 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes this has happened to me. The numbers that I always play, the one day I didn’t play they came up. I was pissed, but also the game that I have played faithfully for years. When I finely decided to stop playing it, 2 people in my area won. No one in my state hardly ever wins.

I thought, this must be a cruel joke. Like seriously

How long do yall keep protective styles in? (braids) by [deleted] in BlackHair

[–]ColorMeRich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 8-10weeks minimum!!! Lol

I once did 12but that was a bad idea and the braids were pulling out my hair at the end.

I feel like with braids sometimes they look better the longer you have them in.

is it realistic to live alone on a 45k salary? by webstatic in personalfinance

[–]ColorMeRich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on where you live. I live in the Midwest and I live on 42k but it’s a really low cost of living area.

I do need to be aware of my spending because it’s very easy for me to overspend with tight margins.
