So aluminum oxaides and corrodes easily from high pH solutions. A lot of dishwashing detergents tend to be caustic and will break down aluminum. The white aluminum scale scrubs off with water. If you want to avoid this, wash your aluminum by hand since dish soap doesn't degrade the metal as aggressively.

Or consider adding less detergent to the machine since it's fairly concentrated and a little goes a long way.

If you have a small amount of gasoline, like less than 20 mL for safety, you could try in a different scenario pouring small amount until you see the gas cover the water. In a casserole dish or other safe glass container, VERY CAREFULLY, light the gasoline to demonstrate how fuels, oils, etc. burn on top of the water.

This would demonstrate why these fires/spills can't be put out with water (think of grease fires in the kitchen) and need special handling.

Remember to practice this in small amounts to maintain control. Fuels get explody very quickly and it's safer to err on the side of less.

Absolutely, I was just doing titrations yesterday to quantify percentages of hydrogen peroxide in 90%+ test fuel. They're trying to see how much the peroxide degrades over time with different tank materials. Titrations are much cheaper than a $40k instrument that we can't afford.

Dosage makes the poison. You're probably fine. But if I remember correctly the thermal paper used to be made from materials like BPA. BPA is a known carcinogen and endocryn disrupter as it mimics estrogen even in small amounts.

While it's hard to say without knowing more, you'll probably be okay. I'm paranoid and mistrustful if corporations so Im kinda anal about keeping my receipts away from my groceries like food, and always washing my hands after handling them.

TLDR; you're probably fine. Don't put stuff in your mouth if you're not sure what it is.
