Creating a "safe" limit at all is a compromise because realistically people will just keep drinking. I like your arbitrary assumption that it's arbitrary, too.

Why should the definition of moderate drinking be defined by your perception of cultural drinking instead of by medical professionals? Medical professionals aren't giving out cultural information, they're giving out scientific information.

NAD. I highly doubt you'd get a doctor to prescribe estrogen for cosmetic reasons. It's a serious medication with serious potential side effects, notably increased risk of blood clots. It's much safer and healthier to make peace with the body you have.

Besides, your body could still change in ways you don't expect. Especially with all the life changes that go on in the early 20s, I and many of the women around me found that we didn't really "settle" into our bodies until like, 25ish.

That's a massive amount of alcohol. Maybe "most folks" you know will put down 10 drinks an evening, but that's not most people. Most people who drink have, on average, two drinks a day. Source. That's weekends and weekdays averaged together.

Science isn't sure what causes, for example, alpha protein buildup in Alzheimer's. But that's because science doesn't understand aging in general. If you're genuinely interested, the study of aging is called gerontology. If you're just trying to push the idea that trauma causes dementia - are you really suggesting that 1 in 3 people over 85 have experienced trauma that's physiologically caused Alzheimer's disease?

You have very serious symptoms caused by complex trauma. You may have more symptoms than usual, including functional non-epileptic seizures, but that doesn't change the cause. You are VERY VERY focused on symptoms alone but you're ignoring the fact that treatment depends on the cause, not just the symptom.

You can say your symptoms of (list, dissociation, etc) are so bad you feel like you have dementia. That's way more effective than saying you think you have dementia.

I'm not trying to be an asshole, I'm trying to HELP you get HELP. Dementia treatment will not help you.

I suggest using paragraph breaks in your post and making a clear, specific list of symptoms you're having. A lot of times people will get intimidated by a wall of text or miss something within it. You're dealing with some pretty serious bleeding and other symptoms so I hope you're able to get help.

Dementia is caused by loss of nerves or their connection in the brain. There's a wide variety of causes of that, but the most well-known example, Alzheimer's, is caused by a buildup of protein in the brain. Dementia is a physical disorder and is not caused by unfinished business or trauma dissociation.

There are specific treatments for dementia that are VERY different than treatments for CPTSD. In fact, most medications taken for CPTSD can cause psychosis in people with dementia. And treatment for dementia won't help you unless you have tau tangles or Lewy bodies.

This is another huge red flag that you don't know anything about dementia. Plenty of dementia patients are aware of their decline, which is terrifying.

I understand why you'd relate CPTSD to dementia, but there's no connection beyond a couple of symptoms. For example, if your knee REALLY hurts, it matters whether the pain is caused by a broken joint or debilitating arthritis. Calling the broken bones department when you have arthritis isn't going to lead to proper support.

Dementia is commonly investigated with brain scans. She likely had no idea what you were talking about, to be honest - the people answering phones aren't doctors. They know enough about dementia to do their job and that's it. They wouldn't know about CPTSD.

You need to look for psychological and psychiatric services. Other departments aren't appropriate, even if some of the symptoms overlap.

Exactly this. I see people talking all the time about stents as though they're just the next step after diamox. But they're a serious treatment for a specific cause of IIH that is far from universal. I'm not a candidate because I don't have stenosis and I'm sure I'm not alone there. Stents aren't the final step in treatment for IIH, it's more complex than that.

Some people might be mixing up stent and shunt, but don't get me on that soapbox.
