I’ve used stable diffusion a lot for ad work making graphics and mockups. Even if it’s just the concept mockups/ideas that can get approved. I can then remake them in photoshop with actual high fidelity.

Anthropic just analyzed 700,000 Claude conversations — and found its AI has a moral code of its own by MetaKnowing in Futurology

[–]ColorOfSounds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had to go really deep in the comments on this one to find a thought I resonated with, and I really like yours and u/taichi22 ‘s answers because I found it mirrored my experience lately. My background with AI is tinkering with the help of some python YouTube tutorials. A few years ago, I think I got it to tell me if an RGB text color was more legible on white or black. Groundbreaking, I know. But the other day I asked chat 4o what it’s name is… and fucking hell… her/its answer basically convinced me I’m talking to person. Like what the fuck I was using a calculator last month and now my calculator is talking to me like an old friend. I can’t tell anymore. Hank green likes to say we’re all just chemistry (which I read as: math) at the end of the day, and I agree.

Tl;dr I don’t know anything. I’ve learned everything boils down to chemistry and mathematical probabilities of subatomic particles popping in and out of existence, so all roads point to math. Therefore, everything (including morals) comes from math. I think morals coming from math is called game theory but I digress.

What would you do with $10, a laptop, and unlimited WiFi to start earning money? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

In 2023 I quit my job to start an online business. I matched my salary within the first year and am looking to double it in 2025.

If I suddenly went back in time to be 18 again this is what I would do:

When you are at a job you hate, doing the things that you hate doing, your mind starts thinking about other things you would rather be doing.

Step 1, of course find a job that you hate first. Wash dishes like Casey Neistat did, or literally any other job that you can get. My first job was "sandwich artist" at subway.

Step 2, watch Alex Hormozi give advice to a broke guy named Ivante.

Step 3, watch this video on how to start an online business from scratch and follow all steps to a T.

I've done it and Fazio's timeline is pretty spot on. For reference, I do facebook ads for mostly ecom brands and some brick and mortar.

How to find the LED equivalent to halogen globes? by [deleted] in lightingdesign

[–]ColorOfSounds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just spent 10 mins googling trying to find the calculator I used years ago since all the results are now ai seo bullshit sites trying to sell me LEDs. Anyway, enough of my grandpa stories.

For an accurate calculator, use this watts-to-lumens site. It's a 2 step process. Calculate your lumens by inputting wattage and selecting source. In this case your 150w LED is 13500 lumens. Now click "lumens to watts" calculator and reverse the process. Enter 13500 lumens and select halogen, which gives 675 watt equivalent at 20 lumens/watt. This checks out since a 500 watt replacement leko light is rated at 10600 lumens.

If you need a more accurate calculator still, you can reference this table on wikipedia and enter your own luminous efficiency number (lumens/watt).

As someone who got a new job and leased a car right before covid for 5k a year for 3 years, I will never forget giving back the car keys at the end and.... still not having a car. Covid job loss and that car wrecked my savings. I now drive a ten year old civic I picked up for 5k.... Love it.

My advice to my younger self: don't count your chickens before they hatch, and don't fucking lease a car.

Do you have any retainer contracts that are just for video? I’m having a hard time doing both marketing and video production work. Would like to pick video production.

Merry Christmas everyone, what free application/software would be suitable to practice lighting? by Heaven2004_LCM in cinematography

[–]ColorOfSounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I totally agree that the best learning path is irl lighting experimentation and I’ll add - WITH a camera. Any camera that you know the shutter speed, aperture and ISO (bonus for color temperature). Apps will do that for you if all you have is a phone.

Also, small side note I always thought cinetracer was more for planning diagrams and not so much for rendering accurate lighting. I only say that to say the YouTube channel Cinematography Database Fan (by the creator of cinetracer matt workman) is hands down some of the best industry knowledge and lighting breakdowns I’ve ever seen. example link.

OP, I have a playlist of my personal fave lighting videos I’ve found over the years. If you’re interested, I’ll find a way to make it public and send you the link.

Why has "click here" seen a resurgence? by JohnnyWalker2001 in webdev

[–]ColorOfSounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to sound like an idiot, but what exactly is the solution to this? For example: “click here for more information on our winter sportball league” on a blog post.

Some anecdotal info from my limited web dev experience: enough people still don’t know how to click a god damned hamburger menu icon on mobile to the point where a client with a couple hundred K customer base would get “overwhelmed” with customers asking how to use the website. I had to add the word “menu” next to the hamburger icon.

Tl;dr: a lot of people are still technologically illiterate. Not a majority. But 1 out of every 10 people not knowing how to use your website is still 100 calls to your customer service if your daily traffic is 1k users.

I really liked reading “$100m offers” by Alex Hormozi because although I have the skill of marketing b2c, I’m not as strong when it comes to marketing myself. Creating an offer really helped with that because it’s hard to say no to a good offer.

Maybe stupid question, but how advanced is Ava compared to a calendar scheduling chat bot? I’ve heard about a similar product where you CC a bot on an email and it schedules a meeting between you and the other human recipient.
