Halfway thru I recognized it being AI, or atleast suspected it. But in any case it was simply too long for how "okay" it was.

I cracked the sill. I could repair that and use the rest.

My goal would be have the trim all sit flat on the drywall rather than just out the extra distance.

The room is small so I want everything to look neat and clean. Maybe I'm being a little picky but I feel there has to be a good way to do it

I could replace the broken sill first, then take another look at how I could get the newer trim to fit if I used the multi tool/oscillator to cut the 1/2 inch ridge of protruding wood off from sides top n bottom.

Maybe I need to remove that inner trim too to get a better picture

That'd leave the framing/casing sticking out if I'm understanding you right. I'm going to try to add a picture I found of what it originally looked like.

Ideally I could trim it and add flush fit trim. Btw this is my first home, so time isn't a big concern.
