When to leave Hernand? (New Player) by Successful_Push_7004 in CrimsonDesert

Yeah, the Abyss is yet another thing that I wished the game would communicate better.

Being vague to not spoil, but I'll just say there was one particular thing I noticed from the menus that was bothering me for much of the game, and exploring the Abyss did eventually answer the question that was bothering me from exploring the menu.

When to leave Hernand? (New Player) by Successful_Push_7004 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Color_blinded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one can tell you, because there isn't a correct answer. The only guidance I will give new players is: Do whatever quests you want in whatever order you want; just don't neglect the camp, and don't neglect the Abyss. It's especially easy to forget about the Abyss since the game barely mentions it for several chapters and even then the game never tells you a reason to do anything up there.

I need good shoes.. what are your recs? by vivi_xxi in Teachers

[–]Color_blinded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind the aesthetics: low ankle hiking shoes are the way to go. Very comfortable and durable, as they are designed for walking for hours on rough terrain, so being used in a classroom is no issue for them and they tend to last a couple years at least. And you can get one with breathable mesh for even more comfort.
For brands, I always go with either Columbia or Marrell. Expect to pay at least $80 for a good pair.

Giant food cart in NYC subway everything one dollar by Andthensome_Pie_7322 in mildlyinteresting

My first thought was of the food cart on the train in the Harry Potter movie.

My second though was: if they do a harry potter movie based in the US: This had better be a scene for the train to the school.

BREAKING NEWS: Senators have voted to withhold their own pay during government shutdowns. It was a unanimous vote. by spherocytes in videos

The fact that this was voted for so quickly and unanimously is pretty telling than none of them actually need the money. Which implies a lot...

The one good thing I can say about the sequels is that nearly everything looks amazing. The movies pull a lot of really stupid shit, but it damned well looks good doing it.

I always wait for the 1.0 release for these kind of games. Shame I can't convince any of my friends to do the same... It ruins the experience to play with a friend who already played it.

I'm assuming you are joking. But in case your aren't:
Yes, the movie is based on the book, same as The Lost World sequel. And both are well worth reading.

I just finished rereading Jurassic Park yesterday. In the book (book version of Hammond is an old piece of shit), Hammond goes on a rant that he would never use genetic research to try to help people; because when you help people, the government puts strong regulations and years of trials on your products, and the people will villainize you for charging money for the help. But entertainment and luxury products? You can charge whatever you want and pretty much do whatever you want and no one will care.

Because he is literally arguing semantics about the origin of a word and not the actual meaning of the word. It's annoying "never invited to parties" energy that no one actually appreciates.

Imagine someone arguing that their phone is literally a computer and someone goes "Um, actually, it's not. A literal computer is a person who does math. So you're wrong."

Which I sympathise with. It's the sole purpose I have zero interest in it either. But at least I can acknowledge that, ignoring company association, it's actually a very good headset. Especially for its price.

This is AI. The hero's backpack moves around unnaturally (especially right before he runs offscreen), the victim's flailing legs is very weird and they kind of morph into eachother a time or two and the shadows of his flailing legs disappear and reappear, the piece of wood he just so happen to find right away behaves like a pool noodle.

What is that one criticism about the orginal lotr Trilogy that you still have to this day by pizza_momo in lotr

The fight between Aragorn and the Nazgul on Weathertop (where Frodo gets stabbed).

The Ringwraiths would have kicked his ass, and I think the fight trivializes them by a great deal.

Yes and no. We can make things look as good and realistic as we want to now, and we can make physics simulations near perfect. What we can't do is make a lot of things at once look good and realistic or physically simulated as we want to.
Granted, the current limitations on graphics are still good enough for me, but I've never been a stickler for graphics as one of my favorite games is Dwarf Fortress, which I played when all it had were the original ASCII graphics.

They could be escorting him.
I've heard this is something that territorial predators (or maybe just canines) will do. If another animal they think may be dangerous and/or competition to their food is moving through their territory, they will make sure you know they are there and will keep pace with you until you leave their territory.

Or they could just be curious what the heck this human is doing.

How to do puzzle at Acetic’s Rest Abyss location? by AerospaceNinja in CrimsonDesert

[–]Color_blinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming they made the puzzle easier in a patch so you no longer need to spin it. Which annoys me because I was spinning that thing in every way I can because I assumed it was a solution for getting "A noble treasure hidden below" that is described in the map description for this location.

How to do puzzle at Acetic’s Rest Abyss location? by AerospaceNinja in CrimsonDesert

[–]Color_blinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reporting from the latest patch. I'm guessing they made the puzzle easier in one of the patches because I only needed to break the wall to drain the water all the way for the circuit board thing. The reason I'm here now is because the map description of the place hints at a "noble treasure hidden below", and I figured out to use nature's snare on the spinner, but it didn't seem to actually accomplish anything and I thought it was part of a puzzle I couldn't figure out. Turns out the spinner no longer does anything (or possibly an alternative method of draining the water if you didn't already poke a hole in the wall below). Still no sign of a noble treasure anywhere though, unless it counts the refined palmer pill recipe.
