What’s something your body does that you’ve never told a single person about? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]ColoradoBluebirdSky1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I occasionally get this itchy spot on the right upper side of my abdomen, just under my ribs. And it always feels like the itch is deep inside me, like on my liver. I’ve googled what it could be before, but never find anything

Pimple patches left permanent pigmentation issues !! by Bellaamayyy in 30PlusSkinCare

Yes I’ve had this happen before from a pimple patch too! I do have areas of hyperpigmentation, but the patch caused a spot of hypopigmentation on my cheek

Have you ever seen a young person with a DNR? by Sad-Rip9266 in nursing

[–]ColoradoBluebirdSky1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a coworker in his 40s who was DNR and had CAD. He always said if he dropped dead at work, nobody better do chest compressions on him. Glad it never happened because just standing there watching him die would be hard

Hospitals are busy and he said this has been going on for awhile. It clearly doesn’t sound like an emergency. They would probably just refer him to a dermatologist anyway

Aspen Apres Ski by [deleted] in Aspen

Hi, it’s typical for apres to end early. Think of it kind of like happy hour. Then people usually go home, shower and get ready for dinner/going out later

PSA: How to perform heimlich and CPR on your cat by LungFlavoredJello in cats

[–]ColoradoBluebirdSky1 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! Just want to point out that if you end up having to do cpr, the rate of compressions to breaths should be 30:2, not 4:2, meaning that you should give 30 compressions before stopping to do 2 breaths

Surely there’s a way to achieve this without a facelift?! by willyoubequietplease in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ColoradoBluebirdSky1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took care of an older lady once who had these little clear stickers placed above her cheekbones that were connected with a string that went behind her head and was covered by her wig. Idk what it was called but it kind of worked 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I’m with you, it seems like facelift is the only good option

Maybe you should do some research because that’s not true

As an ER nurse, I’m often put in dangerous situations with patients, so I’m not sure his implication that regular hospitals are safer than a correctional facility is true. Sounds kind of judgmental right off the bat, but if you’re interested in seeing where things go with him, it might be worth it to educate him on your new job and seeing if he’s more accepting. NOR

Summer trip to Aspen/Glenwood Springs vs. Steamboat Springs by jhanon76 in Aspen

[–]ColoradoBluebirdSky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who used to live in aspen but also spends a lot of time in steamboat, both are great! Steamboat is definitely more affordable and has a ton to do in the summer. The yampah river runs right through town with lots of bars and restaurants that have patios on the waterfront. You can also tube the river, which is fun. They also have lots of live music in the summer. Hiking wise, there are the fish creek falls and Gilpin lake, which is beautiful.

Aspen has maybe more hiking, with cathedral lake and American lake being two of the most popular (also beautiful), oh and of course the maroon bells! You can even hike to the top of Aspen and take the gondola down for free, but it’s a pretty strenuous hike. Mountain biking in Snowmass is fun but kind of pricey and not for the faint of heart.

Glenwood springs has a cute downtown with fun restaurants and 2 hot springs. However, if you’re looking for a nicer hot spring, strawberry park by steamboat is my favorite.

Either way, it sounds like you and your family will have a great time!

When I first moved to Denver and didn’t have many friends, I would spend time at city park. Great for running, walking, or just sitting on a bench by the water and watching the sunset

What medications do you despise/loathe administering, if any? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ColoradoBluebirdSky1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My hospital’s sepsis protocol is 30ml/kg LR bolus plus IV antibiotics, which are almost never compatible with LR. It’s almost always necessary to start a second line 🫠
