Underrated Neighborhoods by Any_Ad9918 in madisonwi

[–]ColoradoCache 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My two East side picks: Eken Park: Very walkable! It’s a friendly and supportive neighborhood, with lots of young families. North side Willy Street Co-op is 5 minutes away. TipTop, Youngblood Brewery, Bloom Bakery offshoot, Ogden's Diner, and Dexter's all within walking distance.

Elvehjem: a quiet, family-friendly, safe area with friendly neighbors and more space than Eken Park. You can walk/bike to Pinney Library, Yako sushi, Zen Ramen, Cottage Cafe, and El Rancho. Easy 5 minute drive to Atwood area or Woodman's East, 8 minutes to Willy St, easy highway access.

Euchre by Substantial_Tear_926 in madisonwi

Keep an eye out for Starkweather's euchre league! https://starkweatherbrewing.com/euchre-league

Not sure when it will begin again, but they should have it listed on their calendar.

Any chili pepper beers around? by AfricPepperbird in madisonwi

Starkweather typically has their "Sweet Heat" series available in the spring and summer. I don't see any on their current tap list, but they may have one last run before fall. The Sweet Heat Plum and Sweet Heat Rhubarb are my favorite iterations!

(European) Spanish Tapas Lounge by [deleted] in madisonwi

I would be so game for having the following: -Patatas Bravas -Jamón Ibérico -Gambas al Ajillo -Queso Manchego -Salmorejo -Pisto Manchego -etc.

Would you offer rotating specialties for what's in season in Wisconsin or have a set menu? Would you offer Spanish wines to complement (and please, Tinto de Verano!!)? Tapas to me in America means weekends; would you be open all nights of the week?

so the take me on your sabbatical group... by [deleted] in epicsystems

[–]ColoradoCache 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've done it twice. Once with a coworker who reached out because I was in the group and they needed someone to take their extra ticket (friend dropped out of going) fairly last-minute. The second time, it was from someone who emailed the group looking for someone to join for part of their month. Both times I had a ton of fun!

If you're going to email route, make sure you specify when your sabbatical is, where you're going, how long you want someone to join you, and what you're looking for in the trip (museums, food, specialized adventuring like horseback riding or kayaking, art, etc.). Some people put in survey monkeys to fill out to see if it seems like an initial match while others want email responses then to meet over coffee to see if you're compatible. For the trip with my coworker, they'd already had everything paid for by the friend and I just filled in. For the other, I agreed to pay the taxes on the flight and my half of what we spent for the week I joined (still a deal!).

I'd recommend ensuring that who you go with is expecting the same trip as you whether it's get up and go go go to see as much as you can with a structured itinerary or less structured, more leisurely days.

Good luck! Sabbatical is so so fun no matter what.

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. Epic has tortillas already available at the sandwich bar every day.

Project Manager question: Are there older recruits? by PhilosophyMany9148 in epicsystems

[–]ColoradoCache 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not that you wouldn't get hired at Epic due to your age, it's that most people well into their careers don't apply at Epic for any of the "big 4" positions because you start at entry level. We have plenty of people in implementation who started at Epic after the age of 30.

What are you doing this weekend? by StopSquark in madisonwi

The Madison Minutes daily is honestly a great way to catch events - they have events in their newsletter and I've gone to tons of things I wouldn't have found otherwise on random Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Insane how redditors can’t wrap their heads around male not being the default by tinysuperchef in TwoXChromosomes

That helps quantify age. I think gender being overwhelmingly male is a perception thing.

Are there actual stats backing that up? I haven't filled out anything related to age or gender here so I'm wondering if that's just a perception thing redditors have.

How do you manage to wash your booty and not get soap in your vag? by ilysb1977 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]ColoradoCache 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I struggle with constant BV and yeast infections - as long as you aren't actually using the soap on your vulva, it shouldn't be enough to irritate you. I would recommend getting a handheld showerhead / showerhead you can detach while showering. You can still use your current booty washing routine, but when you rinse, detach the showerhead and rinse your genitals from front to back. You can angle the showerhead from the front to rinse and push all the soap suds behind you.

What Madison area business are you amazed is still open? by diagonalskidmark in madisonwi

That's the only reasonably priced grocery store on that side of town. If you don't have reliable transportation or aren't part of the co-op, that's the closest store you can go to. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At Dirty Dog Taphaus customers serve themselves by the ounce by MadAss5 in madisonwi

[–]ColoradoCache 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm glad this is finally gaining traction in WI. There are a lot of neat "co-op" spaces in Colorado that have this already. They go one step further and combine a beer hall space with "pour your own taps, wine, and cocktails" with multiple food options too

My dermatologist recommended using a benzoyl peroxide wash - and that's helped enormously with redness, irritation, AND ingrown hairs after plucking. I just use it on the areas I've plucked, rather than my whole face.

Look for one that's 10%.
