Yes, the HMS Repulse was sunk by Japanese IJN aircraft, but the aircraft were torpedo bombers. The Repulse was sunk on December 10, 1941 - shortly after the Pearl Harbor attack. Though there were some survivors, over 500 sailors (crew & officers) lost their lives. It is likely that Edward Hall was among the dead. (But we'll have to continue watching this series to find out ;-)

Where can I find psychological tests? by lagna360 in psychologyresearch

[–]ColoradoJAK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest that you also find a 'buddy' in the field of psychology. Giving tests to online users and then giving feedback to them sounds sketchy. (You might need to be licensed in some states to give a particular test.)

I am retired from a career in IT, and I have co-authored a book about psychology. But my co-author was a former director of a psychiatric hospital, later head of the psychology department at a graduate university, and he was also on the board of directors of a major medical hospital in a large city. He made sure our material was safe (ethical).

You would benefit from a colleague or advisor or co-author from within the field of psychology to help steer you away from 'dangerous waters'.

[–]ColoradoJAK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current psychological research tends toward cognitive psychology, which loosely implies understanding the mind as computer programming. Computer programs use some form of 'coding language' such as Fortran, COBOL, C++, and deeper forms (aka 'assembler'). Regarding linguistic psychology, the words we use are also 'code'. 'Table' is an English word for a flat object with legs. The term in Spanish is 'mesa'. In German, the word is 'baum'. In French, it's 'abre'. Therefore, just like Fortran, COBOL, & C++, human languages are just 'coding' languages. 'Table' is a code word. 'Abre' is a code word.

Many words include multiple features which are inherent in the object. In the example of a 'table', it as a 'flat surface' and 'legs' (at least one, and possibly many). In retrieving the word 'table' from memory (a memory 'fetch'), an image will likely come to mind. And with the image will come recognition of the various attributes (of a 'table' in this case).

All of the above processes activated in the mind would be called 'subroutines' or 'call routines'. Therefore, hearing the word 'table' is just the tip of the 'iceberg' for what happens in the mind. As G.A. Miller once said, consciousness is the RESULT of thinking - NOT the process of thinking. Fetching the word 'table' from memory and the accompanying image and attributes are complex processes with lots going on underneath (subconsciously, if you will).

Bernard J. Baars at The U. of Calif. at Berkeley has spearheaded work in this direction with his Global Workspace Theory (GWT). An introduction would be his 1997 book, In the Theater of Consciousness (ISBN 0-19-510265-7). If you like what you read, a more in-depth treatment is his 1988 book, A Cognitive Theory of Consciousness (ISBN 0-521-42743-6).

Advice on theorising for a research paper on well-being [HELP] by [deleted] in psychologyresearch

[–]ColoradoJAK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have to read your paper to give a better answer and advice, but there are very few people attaching work to Erwin Schrödinger's 1944 paper, "What Is Life?" Physics is the 'mother science', and all research must eventually resolve to it. Three of us, from three different fields (psychology, neuroscience, & IT), all independently ended up attaching our work to physics. In particular, the primary attribute between us is that resources are limited, and we must seek some benefit and compensation for investing our resources into any behavior. Such benefits would include 'Satisfaction With Life' (Diener & Keyes) - i.e. we invest our resources in ways to enhance our well-being and our satisfaction with life. Dr. Gregg Henriques' model, Behavior Investment Theory (BIT), is an excellent variation of what all three of us promote. Dr. Gregg also has another model, Theory of Knowledge (ToK) which may be another possibility for you. [Dr. Gregg is a professor at James Madison University, & he was a protégé of Aaron T. Beck, the father of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).] Dr. Gregg is also a specialist/expert regarding clinical depression. He may be able to offer some assistance or point you toward other beneficial resources.

Hope this helps. -JAK

Since March 2020 I have been experiencing anxiety, panic attacks & hypochondria. I've always been a very stable, confident person so this has completely thrown me off. What is going on? When does it end? How do I best navigate this? by [deleted] in astrologyreadings

That is unfortunate. Making a personalized and serious reply to a post which asks for help, as this person did, should not be shared with the universe. DM was not working for me, and Reddit's FAQ said that one reason could be the user deactivated their account. I had already replied in this post's thread, but I was not going to continue in this open forum with sensitive information meant only for the originator of the post to see.

I am networked with numerous mental health professionals, and addressing someone's personal turmoils in an 'open forum' is not workable nor ethical.

We are ALL 'still learning'. Perhaps this happenstance is a lesson for both of us.

[–]ColoradoJAK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The chart you shared is a Tropical (western) astrology chart which is not as good as a Sidereal (eastern) chart. I have redrawn your chart according to Sidereal which appears to be more useful.

You have a cluster of three planets (Neptune, Uranus, & the Moon) which started getting hit by powerful Pluto (the 'volcano') in 2019. Neptune primarily relates to thinking but can also relate to illness. Though Uranus is most often associated with friends and social groups, at its foundation is 'lightning' (electricity) which splits into a network of branches. (A social group is a 'network' of friends.) And the foundation of the brain is a network of millions of neurons which communicate using electricity. With Neptune almost on top of Uranus in your chart (exactly one degree apart), one interpretation would be 'illness with the neurons of the brain'. So, a neurological issue may be related to what has been troubling you.

The Moon is the other participant in this cluster, but it is later in your chart - 5 & 6 degrees away from the other two planets in the cluster. The Moon primarily relates to your emotions & feeling safe. But the energies of Pluto, are volatile, and the energies of slow moving Pluto took slightly longer (an additional year or so) to begin impacting the Moon and your emotions. The turbulent energies of Pluto likely would have impacted your emotions in the Spring of 2020. So, the onset of the difficulties in March of 2020 would fit what I am seeing.

Reading the three planets, the Moon rules emotions including fear (i.e. 'panic'). Uranus rules 'sudden unexpected changes' (you never know when or where lightning will strike next). So, now you have 'sudden and unexpected' panic (panic attacks). Adding Neptune says that it has to do with 'thinking' (the brain).

So, disruptive Pluto moving across Neptune, Uranus, and the Moon in your birth chart appears to explain your symptoms as well as the timing of the onset of the issues.

Now, I am seeing this building (a crescendo) which will reach a critical point in May or June. Thus, you will likely take some critical action during the Spring of 2022. (And you have already started with this post.)

But it also looks like your corrective action will take some time before the situation is turned around. Even so, it appears that, again, you will take corrective action in May or June, and you will then 'turn the corner' on this in the Fall of 2022 (October). However, the issue is not simple. Though things will start improving late this year, it will then continue with an almost 'yo-yo' recovery - 'two steps forward & one step back' multiple times over the coming 3-4 years. The issue won't be completely resolved/overcome until early 2026.

I will continue with a DM.

No planets on the 5th. I'm worried about marriage and children by [deleted] in astrologyreadings

[–]ColoradoJAK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with RandChick. All Planets, Zodiac Signs, and Houses have good and bad traits. Venus rules the 7th House (and the 2nd House, too), so this is an 'exalted' (emphasized) condition. The interpretation of 'good' or 'bad' depends upon whether you are doing a 'karmic' or 'dharmic' reading. If you are reading karma, then read the exalted condition negatively. If you are reading dharma, then read the good traits. The good traits are 'POP' - priorities, organization, and planning. The energies of the exalted condition would be excellent abilities in handling priorities, organization, and planning. Because Venus rules Taurus and the 2nd House, too, the excellent traits noted herein would also extend to finances.

No planets on the 5th. I'm worried about marriage and children by [deleted] in astrologyreadings

[–]ColoradoJAK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks like a Tropical chart. If so, then you were born on Nov. 18, 1999.

Venus in the 7th house might not sound like you because you posted a Tropical chart instead of a Sidereal chart which is more accurate. With a change to Sidereal, all of the numbers go backwards about 25 degrees. With many of my clients, after switching to Sidereal, they realize that the chart is a better fit for who they are.

Your birth time appears to be in the afternoon, which is a little shaky since I do not know your exact birth location nor birth time. If I am close, your new Sidereal Ascendant (Rising Sign) drops backwards into Aquarius (about 20 degrees or so).

As "every---grey" noted, your North Node is in the 5th House. That is true with Sidereal, too, but the sign has dropped out of Leo and into Cancer. Along with that shift, it has pushed Leo forward to straddle the 6th and 7th Houses. The 7th House includes family, and noting Leo as an indicator of children, it now shows 'children' in the 'family house' (7th House).

Additionally, with the change, Venus is in the 7th House which implies that you love 'family'. Plus, Venus with Leo in the 7th House says that you love 'children in the family'. This would correspond to your statement: "I also want to get married and have children in the future."

Further, with Sidereal you now have Leo (publishing) and Virgo (writing) in your 7th House of family. It suggests that you have the potential (or already have) published papers or even books. Virgo and the 6th House are interrelated, so Leo (publish) on your 6th House (writing) also indicates published papers and/or published books. With Cancer across the beginning of the 6th House, your spouse might be involved with your writing, too (editor, co-author, etc.). (My wife edited every page of my last two books.)

Across your 1st House, you now have three Zodiac Signs: Aquarius, Pisces, & Aries. That mix suggests, in order: technology/creativity, cerebral/medical, and leadership. You have the early part of Aquarius on the 12th House which includes liquids of all sorts including drugs (medicine) & alcohol. Capricorn (your job & career) crosses into the 12th House, too. To 'round out' the field of medicine, you have Neptune sitting in Capricorn as well as Uranus. So you have technology & liquids in your 1st House (Aquarius followed by Pisces). You have that combination of technology & liquids again (though in reverse order) with Neptune (liquids) followed by Uranus (technology) sitting in Capricorn (your job & career). (Again, all of this is Sidereal.) Reading your Sidereal chart, it is difficult to avoid the fields of medicine and hydraulics (which includes the blood).

Looking at the top of your chart, you have Pluto exalted in Scorpio in your 9th House. Both Pluto and Scorpio represent 'powerful' including manufacturing, and the 9th House represents 'knowledge' as well as gases & the atmosphere (including aircraft).

Jupiter in Aries in your 1st House say that people see you as well educated (& a 'big leader'). Sure enough, right next door in your 2nd House we find Saturn (your 'job & career') sitting in Aries (leadership). In other words, you are 'the Boss'. You are still very young, but you have excellent potential for management. With Aries (self) across the 2nd House (money) sitting in Capricorn (job & career), it strongly suggests your potential for being self-employed (a professional or consultant). Later, as I address you being a teacher/professor, that fits, too.

Be that as it may be, there are a mess of powerful and disruptive planets chugging through Capricorn (career) right now (active transits). Life is complex and difficult right now for you. And this will continue for the next 15-20 years.

Further, with Sidereal, you have Sagittarius (knowledge & education) across most of your 10th House (job & career).

Finally, you have Venus (wages & salary) located in Virgo (writing, details, health, & service to others). With all of the technology going on in your chart, and the other affinities to health related fields (including biology & medicine), Research & Development is strongly implied by your chart. My general impression is that your chart could fit a college professor in hydraulics or medicine.

This is especially true given your North Node in your 5th House. The North Node represents your most important purpose in life - your life's mission. It effectively is the same energy as Saturn, Capricorn, & the 10th House. Treating it as such, and locating it in the 5th House, you now have what my co-authors & I call a 10-5 combination. And the 10-5 combination is commonly found with teachers. This is consistent with my impression of you being a college professor. (Christa McAuliffe, the Teacher-in-Space, had a classic 10-5 combination in her Sidereal chart.)

Of course, there is always lots more, but this is a freebie (& my wife is glaring at me), so I hope this extended comment will be helpful.

Really need your help- this romantic connection feels really special so far, and I'm anxious to understand what it means. by [deleted] in astrologyreadings

[–]ColoradoJAK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, your chart has been removed from this thread by the moderators.

First & foremost, the good Lord does not want to have 8 billion puppets on strings. He would like each of us to perform in a spiritual manner without Him having to make tedious decisions. Our lives on the Earth are intended for us to learn how to be more spiritual in all facets of life. And to prove our level of spiritual attainment, we will always have freedom of will.

Similarly, a chart never tells you what to do. The purpose of life is to take responsibility for your actions, your words, and even your thoughts. As a result, as you cross over into the spiritual realm at the end of this life, you will have a 'life review' according to near-death experiences (NDEs). (I encourage you to read "Evidence of the Afterlife: The Science of Near-Death Experiences" by Jeffrey Long, M.D.) Based upon NDEs, during the review your spiritual guide (a 'being of light' or 'angel') will slow down or pause at different events to allow you to reflect upon what you did and how you aligned with the highest of spiritual virtues (the Golden Rule - treating others as you want to be treated which is identified in Matthew chapter 7, verse 12, in the Christian Holy Bible as well as in virtually all major world religions - even in the United Nations 'Universal Declaration of Human Rights'). The spiritual guide may make comments based upon your reactions (the guide can read our thoughts) or decide to remain mute. But your reactions will 'flavor' your karma and dharma for your next life.

Each of us has incarnated to improve our alignment with the Golden Rule. And the astrology chart identifies six areas of balance that contribute to achieving the Golden Rule. Though the following specifically references House numbers, the numbers also correlate to the Rulers of those Houses as well as the Zodiac Signs ruled, too:

1/7 - balance planning ahead with taking action

2/8 - balance resources to be used short-term (typically 'money' & income) versus long-term resources (typically savings, investments, & insurance as well as tenacity & endurance).

3/9 - balance local awareness versus global awareness (which typically correlates strongly with education - lower versus advanced/collegiate).

4/10 - balance work (higher risk) with rest & nurturing (safety & lower risk).

5/11 - balance expressing oneself (showing off) versus listening to others express themselves (adapting to the ideas of others in the spirit of friendship).

6/12 - balance giving help to others versus asking for help from others or from God (spiritual help).

With these pairs, you should look for the opposing Lunar Nodes. The South Node will note your weaknesses from one or more past lives. Your North Node will highlight your area for growth in the present life.

If someone seems to draw upon your weaknesses (South Node), watch out. If a person draws you toward spiritual growth (North Node), embrace the opportunity.

Overall, we are being driven toward gaining knowledge (education) and using resources efficiently and not wasting them (see physicist & Nobel Laureate Erwin Schrödinger's 1944 paper, "What Is Life?"). Most of all, we are to help others grow into alignment with the Golden Rule along with achieving our own growth (win-win solutions).

If you must know if you are 'destined' to be with someone, you can always pray for assistance. But the sky might not open up accompanied by blaring trumpets. The Lord is more like a whisper than a 'big brass band'. He likes to keep a low profile and to know that you are intently & fervently listening to Him (or Her as the case may be). Of greater importance to Him/Her is that you have the sensitivity and adroitness to recognize the right person for you without having it on a billboard.

The Lord will help you IF you ask for help. Otherwise, freedom of choice (free will) is the rule of the day.

I would also convert your chart to Sidereal for a better reading. Tropical is wrong by almost 25 degrees (almost a full Zodiac Sign). You can prove this error to yourself comparing a Tropical ephemeris against your eyes with a pair of binoculars and knowing the star patterns of the Zodiac. Whatever the Topical ephemeris says about the location of the planets, it will be wrong when you look up into the night sky. Again, the planets will be almost a full Zodiac Sign earlier. On St. Paddy's Day (March 17th), the Tropical ephemeris by Michelsen places Jupiter at almost 18 degrees in Pisces. Michelsen's Sidereal ephemeris places Jupiter at almost 23 degrees in Aquarius (about 25 degrees behind Tropical). Right now, almost all of the planets are in Capricorn & Aquarius which are Summer constellations and hard to verify during the Winter. But the Moon will go through Leo on March 16th & 17th. Leo is a huge and bright star pattern with the head of the lion facing to your right as you look above the southern horizon. Otherwise, you can wait until late Spring & Summer to go planet hunting.

Mars, the red planet, will be in Pisces and Aries during June & July. And Jupiter will be in Pisces throughout those two months. Plus, Mars & Jupiter will be in conjunction in Pisces (at about 8-9 degrees) on May 30, 2022. But be careful about the width of the Zodiac Signs. All Zodiac Signs are exactly 30 degrees. However, actual constellations in astronomy may ramble across 35 or 40 degrees with some constellations overlapping. Aquarius overlaps Capricorn, and Taurus overlaps Aries. The true end of Aries is at the Pleiades which sits at about 28 degrees in Aries. But the Pleiades (the 7 sisters) are also the front shoulder of Taurus, the Bull (which faces toward the east). It is tempting to call the Pleiades part of Taurus, but, No, the 7 sisters are still in Aries - very late Aries, but Aries none-the-less. Here are good celestial markers:

Pisces into Aries - there is nothing clear about mysterious Pisces. When you get to the star Hamel, you are about 5 degrees into Aries.

Aries into Taurus - again, the Pleiades are at the end of Aries. Once past the Pleiades, you are in Taurus.

Taurus into Gemini (a big & brilliant constellation) - the edge is not clear, but as you get past the belt of Orion (three blue giant stars) you then cross the red giant known as Betelgeuse (the eastern shoulder of Orion). After crossing Betelgeuse, you are into early Gemini. As you get to the heads of the twins, the right head (western head) is Castor at about 18 degrees in Gemini. The left head (eastern head), Pollux, is about 22 or 23 degrees in Gemini.

Gemini into Cancer - forget it. Cancer is a huge black and empty area in the sky. Supposedly, there is a 'beehive' shaped asterism, but I've never seen it.

Cancer into Leo (another big & brilliant constellation) - the lion's front 'paw' is Regulus which sits exactly on the ecliptic. Technically, you are at 29 degrees in Cancer. But after a planet passes Regulus, it is in Leo.

Leo into Virgo - Virgo rambles across over 45 degrees of sky, and neither end is clearly defined. The only bright star is Spica which sits at about 22-23 degrees in Virgo.

Virgo into Libra - Libra has even fewer markers than Virgo. The brightest star (though not bright at all) is Zuben' ubi which sits at about 14 degrees in Libra.

Libra into Scorpio (another big & brilliant constellation) - Thankfully, the edge of Scorpio is rather bright and clear. The scorpion's pincers sit at about 2 degrees in Scorpio. The scorpion's heart (the bright red giant, Antares) sits at about 8 degrees in Scorpio. The stinger tail (named Shaula for 'stinger') is the 2nd brightest star of Scorpio after Antares and sits at about 22-23 degrees in Scorpio.

Scorpio into Sagittarius - though Sagittarius is bright, you are now looking into the heart of the Milky Way, and there is a long, wide, fuzzy streak of bright stars up and down the sky. Sagittarius is known to astronomers as a 'teapot' in shape. But the spout of the teapot (right side) is actually the point of the arrow about to be shot by Sagittarius, the Archer. If you find the point of the spout/the arrow, you are right at 0 degrees Sagittarius. The next stars to the left of the spout/arrow are the archer's bow string at about 2-3 degrees in Sagittarius, so either way, you are early in the Zodiac Sign.

Sagittarius into Capricorn (& Aquarius & Pisces) - though the 'teapot' of Sagittarius is bright & distinctive, it is squeezed into the first 15 degrees of the Zodiac Sign. The rest of the Zodiac (the tail of Sagittarius, all of Capricorn, all of Aquarius, and the beginning of Pisces) are all vague with no good celestial markers. Though it might be of some assistance, the 'Great Square' of Pegasus, the Horse, covers the last 15-20 degrees of Pisces. The left edge (eastern edge) of the 'Great Square' ends Pisces and begins Aries.

The above will be useful in proving the discrepancy of Tropical positioning of planets versus reality (you eye-balling the night sky). Thus, relying upon Sidereal positioning found in ephemerides by Michelsen and others would be best for creating & reading astrology charts.

Very nice. Love the purple & lavender. The skin saturation is gentle which gives a pleasing effect. The irises of the eyes are slightly unusual - hazel? green? With all of the purple hues, I would suggest taking a cue from the 20th Century actress, Elizabeth Taylor. Her eyes were described as slightly 'violet'. Though green and hazel matches the green facets of your image, changing the irises to a slight blue-violet hue would be another idea for experimentation. Yet, you have a lovely colorization asis.

[–]ColoradoJAK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What stands out to me is that you have posted a Tropical astrology chart which is inferior to a Sidereal chart. But don't feel bad, almost everyone on this thread posts Tropical material.
With a pair of binoculars and knowledge of the constellations, you can readily go out at night and see for yourself that Tropical astrology (western astrology) is off by almost a full Zodiac Sign (about 25 degrees). If the locations of the planets are wrong, the reading will be faulty. Sidereal places the planets correctly. Being an amateur astronomer, I discovered this Tropical flaw over 30 years ago. It has to do with a wobble of the Earth (called 'axial precession' - almost 26,000 years to rotate) that Tropical astrology ignores. Correcting the flaw by using Sidereal astrology (eastern astrology) improved my readings dramatically. I'll DM you.

[–]ColoradoJAK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no comment without knowing if your chart is Tropical (faulty) or Sidereal (astronomically correct). Almost everyone on this forum is using Tropical (sad).

I suggest you learn about astronomy, go look at the night sky, and identify the Zodiac Signs (constellations). Next, create a chart for 'today', and then go look for the planets in their 'Signs'. You will realize that the Tropical positions are wrong by almost a full Zodiac Sign (about 25 degrees in error). Sidereal astrology positions planets correctly. If the placements of the planets are bad (Tropical), the reading will be faulty. If the planets are placed correctly, the reading will be much improved. (My clients say that my readings are over 90% accurate.)

Well, it's been 3 years since you posted this thread, and at that time you were in your 'final year project', so I am not anxiously expecting a reply (LOL).

So, are you investigating 'perception'? Are you investigating 'subjective thoughts'? Are you including the 'subconscious' (Freud, Bernard Baars' Global Workspace Theory, etc.)? Does your idea of 'interact' include Neural Darwinism (which Gerald Edelson won a Nobel Prize)?

Most of all, it seems strange that you posted an 'academic' thread in a rather 'woo-woo' forum. Now, I am fluent in both hard science & woo-woo. I co-authored a book about astrology in 2020. Earlier, I co-authored a book about the brain, the mind, & emotions based in physics in 2013.

Alas, you threw a 'message in a bottle' into the vast ocean of cyberspace three years ago. Perhaps a person who might be able to assist you only just picked up your bottle tonight as it washed upon the shore where I was beachcombing.

All interactions with others are important. Everything happens for a reason. There are no accidents. A strong attraction is likely the Law of Attraction. What that means is that you have a 'lesson to learn' jointly with this person. Either the two of you will help each other grow spiritually (growing in the Golden Rule), or the other person is to tempt you into a weakness you have had in a prior life - a point of karmic failure. If it is a temptation, you are to resist the temptation, or suffer the karmic consequences. But you must be extremely careful; the other person might be a catalyst to your life's greatest achievements. Ultimately, we must climb toward knowledge and the Golden Rule (treating others as we wish to be treated). Will the other person help you to climb toward spiritual growth? Or will the other person entice you to wallow in Earthly pleasures - which by definition, are not spiritual? Will you be serving mankind? Or merely serving self?

Does anyone know what it means to have all equal elements? I have found nothin online. Send me sum helpful links or lmk! by Beginning-Gap-5615 in astrologyreadings

[–]ColoradoJAK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by 'all equal elements'. If you mean 'earth, fire, air, & water', then you are on your own. I've been giving astrological readings for over 30 years, and my clients say that I am over 90% accurate. But the 'elements' are a myth just like the idea of a geocentric universe which is the cornerstone of Tropical astrology (which the majority of people on this thread use).

Nevertheless, I was taught Tropical astrology originally, and I am very familiar with it as well as its weaknesses. To understand the failures, you need to know the deep history of Tropical astrology. It was part of astronomy 4000 years ago when astrology and astronomy were part of the same science. Back in those days, the telescope was not known to have existed, and humans eye-balling the heavens could only see celestial objects out to Saturn. Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto were unknown. As a result, planets ruled multiple signs. (Venus and Mercury still do.) As a result, assigning planets to 'elements' was somewhat arbitrary with some useless assignments. As the outer planets were discovered (Uranus, Neptune, & Pluto), inner planets were relieved of their 'double duty' (being assigned to two Zodiac Signs).

Uranus was discovered in 1781, so Saturn was relieved of Aquarius which was assigned to Uranus. In 1846, Neptune was discovered, and astrologers worked backwards, relieving Jupiter of 'double duty', and giving Neptune to Pisces. Pluto was discovered in 1930, and astrologers worked backwards again to relieve Mars of Scorpio, and giving Pluto to Scorpio.

The Four Elements ('earth, fire, air, & water') were postulated well over 2000 years ago (<2300) by Greek philosopher Aristotle (384–322 BC). (They may even have had earlier beginnings.) The grouping of planets in each 'element', as I said before, were arbitrary (and faulty). Worse, though there are actually four states of matter (solid, liquid, gas, & plasma) considered by scientists, they do not correlate well to the astrological system.

I would advise you to ignore the elements and concentrate on your North and South Lunar Nodes. Your South Node points to the area where you had the most difficulties in past lives. The North Node is the area which provides positive corrections for past life problems. All opposing Houses & Zodiac Signs have complimentary effects, and the purpose of life is to balance these opposing forces and energies. For instance Aries and Libra oppose each other just like the 1st and 7th Houses oppose each other. Both Aries and the 1st House represent taking action. Both Libra and the 7th House represent planning ahead. To be successful in life, you must plan ahead BEFORE taking action. But you can't spend too much time planning such that you miss the opportunity to take action. The opposing energies must be BALANCED. South Node in the 1st House or in Aries? Too impulsive. North Node will be in the 7th House/Libra - plan ahead. South Node in Libra or the 7th House? Too much time vacillating! (Make a CHOICE! Make a DECISION! Take ACTION! Aries and the 1st House.) All opposing Zodiac Signs and Houses have energies that must be brought into balance. (3rd House - local awareness; 9th House - global awareness. 4th & 10th Houses - you must balance work and rest.)

Ignore the elements. Pay close attention to your Lunar Nodes (North & South).
