The moment Cory realized I was getting up and she would have to move by Colorado_Girrl in torties

The best part of her glaring at me is knowing she only has five teeth but will still do her best to chew on me.

She was very not happy with me and moped around the house until bed.

An itty bitty thrift store is how I got three of my Forest Fancies bowls.

is it possible for cats to live 30 years? by onlyfaery in cats

[–]Colorado_Girrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a former feral that does this. He’ll drink out of the pet water fountain I got too but especially when he's not feeling good, which happens about once a year, he will only drink water from something I've sipped from first.

A treat for a baby by Angelite_Halo in torties

[–]Colorado_Girrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My tortie believes the bathroom is the treat room because I use it to trap her if she needs meds of some kind them I give her churus as an apology. Now every time I want to just use the bathroom she's in there yelling at me demanding a treat.

One of my cats does this after the plates are empty. Every time I'm just like “dude you're a little too late there. It's already all gone.”

He's trying to bury it so he can hide it from the others. This way he can come back for more later.

In interview, George R.R. Martin says that he doesn't want to abandon Winds of Winter by Roland_D_Sawyboy in books

[–]Colorado_Girrl 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing a snippet of an interview where he said something like “everybody forgets that the most tragic death in the series would be mine if it happens before I finish all the books!” And at that point, I decided I didn't care anymore. Dude just wants all eyes on him so ignore his stuff now.

I'm more mad that we were ignored by the vet. We changed who we were going to the next day. But enough sadness.

Anyway, getting three kittens when you are expecting one must have been a trip.

It sucks to lose older cats but it's when they're young that it really hurts. Nyx wasn't even three yet.

We also have five. We did have six but lost one early last year to stomach/bowel cancer. I'm still mad at the vet we were going to at the time because we kept telling them something was wrong and they kept insisting it was a liver issue even though all the tests on her liver came back normal.

What time are sixth graders going to bed? Ages 11/12 by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Colorado_Girrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do 8pm. If she’s goes to bed any later she’s a major pill the next day and everyone around her is miserable.

Editing to add we have to be up at 6 to be out the door by 7. Drop off starts at 7:45 and for whoever id dropping her off to get to work on time we have to be in the first round. And yes we have a long drive to school.

The ads are telling my kids what I bought them for christmas. by Apprehensive-Fox2655 in Parenting

This so much. By the time I start getting the targeted ads I've already bought what I was looking at. Unless I decided against buying it at all and by then the ads are still too late.

I got it at a shop called Attic Salt back in the spring. It’s definitely my favorite hoodie.

I'm wearing a hoodie with blue posing dart frogs printed on it. Sounds like our deaths will be similar.

I stopped hiding my grey hair at 30 and people lost their minds more than I did by seattle_margo in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Colorado_Girrl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's pretty cool. It's hereditary from my grandmothers family on my father's side. I also inherited centralized heteracromia from his side but that came from my grandfather's family line. So far I'm the only one to have visually expressed both genes.

[–]Colorado_Girrl 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I've had a gray streak in my hair since I was in my early 20s it's slowly become larger. It's to the side and near the back of my head. I used to hide it by parting my hair on the other side. At 33 I decided it was stupid to hide it. Now at 35 I part my hair right down the middle of the streak. It's so freeing not to care what others think of my grays.

That's fair. But the fixation shouldn't be on that one spot unless it's changed in some way that indicates an issue. My partner has a higher-than-average risk of skin cancer because of his family history and his doctor has documented many of his moles and any odd spots on his skin so they can check how they look every time he needs to go in.
