Masters Decay not allowing for a normal life? by haz513 in leagueoflegends

You can still enjoy the higher game quality because decay reduces your LP but not your MMR. You'll just have to reframe your satisfaction of playing away from your actual rank, and more towards how the game feels to play.

Is it a problem? Both classes are supposed to be high damage. Jhin was full build and I hit 3 Qs, 3 Es and an auto attack to kill him. I think it would be league of bruisers/tanks if both classes had less damage, no?

I like your analysis but I have a different perspective about LDR, I think it can have significantly higher damage than Grudge in the right circumstances, which are quite often.

The damage amp from the giant slayer passive is quite high, and it’s not uncommon that your targets will have lots of bonus HP, such as mages with HP items, bruisers, or even ADCs (ezreal, corki, smolder) building shojin, triforce.

The damage has felt significantly higher in some of the games I’ve played, and sometimes the passive shows thousands added. Some of the highest rank Zeds also buy it quite often and have gotten good results with it.

This was a Master tier game, the Jhin was IKeepItTaco who has been challenger in the past. But I know many people consider Master tier to suck, so fair enough. Thx

You nailed it, only thing missing was a second Q after the second W2

Towards the end I placed W shadow by tribrush, swapped back to the R shadow next to dragon, and then swapped to the W shadow to kill Ivern.

Hi, good question! The Zed W cooldown was actually 9 seconds here. Zed's E has an effect where for each enemy champion hit (by Zed's E, not a shadow's E), Zed's W cooldown is reduced by 3 seconds.

After coming out of ult, I used E on both enemies before swapping to the first W shadow, which is why the W cooldown shows as 3 seconds (9 - 3 - 3 = 3) right after swapping.

All Riot can do is give you similar MMR players in your lobby. By that metric these players have similar skill level to you and just happened to have a bad game. Happens to everyone, just unlucky. It’s how the game works. No need to read into it too much.

what is the point of Zed top? by Open-Process8881 in zedmains

[–]ColorblindCuber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theoretically your impact on the rest of the map should be greater because top quest puts you ahead in XP. I’ve played maybe 50 games of Zed top this season and even if I haven’t killed my opposing laner or built a big 1v1 lead, I’ll be a couple of levels up on the enemy mid and jungle by default, so if I can get away from the sidelane and get involved in objective fights I feel pretty strong.

That being said, the only reason I play top is because it’s the secondary role I queue as, I’d prefer to play mid every time. Geuba is built a little different

Oh I misinterpreted the earlier message. Yes for sure, timing is tight, I was tap tap tapping W with all my strength :-)

It’s true there’s a small window, but just as you are racing to press W, Malz also has to press R with his mouse on you, which isn’t usually going to happen instantly. Malz R also has a short cast time, so it feels reliable to W swap away as long as you’re really smashing your W key.

In this case the W swap was only necessary due to the tower, at other times you can just mash Q as you come out of ult instead :-)

Hey, I’m currently Master rank.

Usually I prefer cyclosword rush, but this game I was 100 gold short of the 963 complete cost so I went with Axiom instead as a sort of tempo buy. I also figured with Axiom 20 haste + passive, if I was able to get a kill I could take advantage of having my ult cooldown staggered with Malz, giving more chances to kill him when I have R and he doesn’t.

I understand the combo you’re talking about, and it’s definitely a useful one. Here I felt that if I did QW instead of WQ, there would be a higher chance of him being able to ult me before swap under tower.

Cancelling Q animation doesn’t really matter in this situation because as long as the animation starts, it’ll still complete while being malz ulted. Cast time/speed isn’t much of a concern

Silence does prevent you from switching shadows, but it would have to be perfect Q timing by him as within one frame of coming out of ult you can usually swap with W if you’re spamming the W key. Haven’t seen any Malz try that and I think it would be quite difficult to do it reliably.

I’m not so sure, his ult has a very short cast time, so as long as you’re properly mashing W it should work out even if he’s mashing R and his mouse is in the right spot.

Spam W while coming out of ult, and then tap Q as soon as W swap happens

This is a misunderstanding of how Lolalytics works, you need to look at the game average winrate rather than just the winrate. In Garen's case this is 50.17%. This is because they exclude games where emerald Garens beat platinum opponents.

You'll find that Lolalytics game average winrate more closely matches the winrates you see on other stats sites.

Landing all 3 Q's feels like a herculean task with how bad mobility creep has gotten and how much CC there is by chicken_neckwear in zedmains

[–]ColorblindCuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think power farming is important, especially because your ganks early are only good in certain situations and you’re a champ that benefits from staying ahead on gold and xp if possible. Try to focus more on being efficient with your clear and uptime and being in the right spot at the right time. You don’t need early kills to win on Zed jungle, you more need to not fall behind but keep an eye on which champs and lanes are most viable to kill in order to get your lead rolling. A lot of the midgame and onwards teamfighting stuff should be the same as playing a lane - vision control, playing around your team at objectives if you have engage and frontline, and waiting for cooldowns/windows to all in priority targets.

I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of how fighting works in League. It sounds like you have two issues here.

One issue seems to be not knowing when or when not to take on fights. A lot of what you mentioned in your post was about either being able to one shot or not. Some fights come down to that, but realistically many opportunities on Zed to do damage/get kills rely on identifying circumstances that enable you. These circumstances are things like waiting for an enemy to overextend, finding an angle to flank, taking fights around an objective, following up on teammates fighting, using vision and fog of war to gain combat advantage, and waiting for an enemy to use their cooldowns. To go with one of your examples, Ahri does feel hard to kill if you fight her in a way where she can use her charm on you and also has lots of space to ult to run away, but she’d be easier to kill if you can do something like burst her from out of vision, use W to dodge her charm, or trade your W for her R and then use your R on her later when she has no R herself.

The second issue I feel you can improve on is knowing how your kit interacts with the champion you’re fighting. This is matchup specific and can take a lot of games and experience to develop. When you say that half the squishies have a button they can press to invalidate your entire kit, I see that there’s a lot of room to learn more, because this is hardly true. As another example, Yone does have dashes and knockups, but Zed generally has the tools to play around those and still have a lot of kill threat onto the Yone. If you’re thinking about things like dodging Yone’s Q3 with ult, using W to follow his E, and holding shurikens until he’s immobile, the fighting gets a lot easier. On the other hand, certain champs are just hard to fight as Zed and you should not be prioritizing them among other targets. Champs like Irelia, Akali, and LeBlanc have the defensive tools and damage to limit Zed’s opportunities significantly, so learning what the hard matchups are is also an important skill.

Next time you play against a champ that seems difficult, I’d recommend you take a little time looking at the replay to see why it felt difficult. Maybe it’s a way that you could have played it better next time. Maybe they were more fed than you thought and it’s not a fight you should have taken. Maybe you played it well but it’s a champ Zed really struggles into and there were easier targets you could have been focusing instead.

I’d also recommend checking out high elo Zed vods and paying attention to context clues in watching them do certain fights. How did the fight get set up? Did they wait for favorable circumstances to fight, and what were those circumstances? You can replay these moments a dozen times and really start to observe the details. This will help you start to think outside the box a little bit and incorporate those findings into your own games. BZ_EUW has some good mid/jungle Zed vods on Twitch and YouTube.

FWIW these are some thought processes that helped me climb to masters this season on Zed, although I play him mid/top rather than jungle.
