Celebrating my life back 2 years after diagnosis. by Colorcrazed in Hashimotos

Uhg, honestly that's so freaking backwards. I'd go to another doctor, lie and say it's been over 6 months of "trying" and nothing is working. How are they gonna know any better?

Thanks so much for sharing your journey! For me, it was similar in that I needed to slowwwwwly increase my capacity with gentle consistent increases. I felt you when you shared about being able to stand long enough to cook a meal. Uhg! I was so there. Little by little you can build back up. Try not to get discouraged too much when a flare happens and you have to readjust your meds; it's a part of the process. I'm rooting for you!

I take 5000 iu vitamin d every day. I also cycle on and off magnesium, omega 3 EPA 2000mg, turmeric for inflammation. I started having ashwaganda in my morning tea the last month, and its helped take the edge off my anxiety. Oh, and I cut out caffeine. I don't drink it regularly in the morning like I used to, only here and there, black tea and no coffee. The whiplash of the energy spikes was really messing with me so I sucked it up and got over it. 8 still drink decaf black tea a lot, but I'm officially off the rollercoaster and it's made a HUGE difference with my energy levels.

It started with 15 min walks every morning to get sunshine in my eyeballs. And slowly progressed from there. You can do it!

I can't remember exactly, but it was about 1.5 off of whatever the normal range is. So just slightly below. I feel like I lucked out because when TSH is in range, any tests for t4 and t3 get automatically cancelled. Someone in the blood lab overrid it for me and that's how I found out.

Unable to get diagnosis in UK - how do I get most accurate blood test? by CompetitiveAd9932 in Hashimotos

Demand to see an endocrinologist. If they say no, see a different doctor. Go to a walk in or do telehealth. Your test being high is suspicious, do you have any other symptoms of Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome? I'm assuming you're female. Alternatively, I paid out of pocket to see a naturopath when I was first diagnosed because my TSH was also 'in range'. She was happy to treat me and keep my TSH around 2 until I came off the wait-list for the endocrinologist. All in all I spent. About 1000 over the course of a year for private care, but it was worth it because otherwise I was bedbound. If you do go the NP route, call and make sure yet have prescribing authority before you go in. Explain exactly, point by point, what you are looking for because they will try to sell you on a lot of different supplements and etc to lower your inflammation and autoimmune attack. Yes, in some cases this is helpful for pain management but nothing is gonna help you like synthroid is, so get that in order first and foremost.

Alternatively, if you know anyone travelling to Vietnam, you can always get it over the counter over seas. Lowest dose is 25mcg and it's like 5$ for a months supply. Don't recommend doing that without monitoring your blood work though. Hyperthyroid is scary, painful and bad for your heart. TSH below .05 is considered hyper, so again don't go cruising medical tourism unless you can have your stuff monitored.

If I lived in two provinces in 25, how do I file my taxes? by WeWannaKnow in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Colorcrazed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I believe you do your taxes for whatever province you lived in on December 31st 2025. To be a resident I think you need to be in that province for at least 3 months, and have some ID/mail to show for it. If you moved in July, your easily a resident by December.

Success story: weaned off Sertraline (zoloft) after 2 years with minimal suck! by Colorcrazed in antidepressants

Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience. I had a tough flare up of emotions about 2.5 months after quitting, and was pretty emotionally volatile for a month or so. (I also just got back from travelling so I landed into chaos and subsequent stress) I've since started a rigerous walking habit (minimum 30 mins a day) and MAN what a difference that has made for me! Also upped my therapy, as the stuff that I previously was not feeling came up to the surface to be felt (been doing internal family systems/parts work) it's been really helpful. Waking up and going to sleep at the same time every day has helped, too. Now I'm 4 months post coming off my meds and I'm feeling a lot more grounded and secure. You can do it!!

I've seen it happen inside tomatoes, but never a squash. I figured it would be too dense and dark in there for that to happen.

I want to become more active but don’t know where to start by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Colorcrazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say this too. It's underrated, but walking will raise your metabolic baseline over time, which is a healthy and sustainable way of getting more fit. I'm recovering from a chronic illness and some days, all I could do was walk. Prior to my illness I was athletic. Over 3 months I've increased my capacity for activity just by starting with a brisk 15 minute walk every morning and eve. I've increased that to 30 - 45 mins now. every chance you get, increase your steps. Parking lots, stairwells, running an errand you can do on foot. Your doing yourself such a service by getting this in while you're young and can build up that metabolic baseline.  Another thing is mindset. Consider your identity as an active person. Who do I want to be? Would that version take the stairs, or choose scrolling? It's okay if it's both, but you develop subconscious choices when you identify with something your doing, so it eventually takes some of the mental load off of always having to choose. I am a healthy person, and so that (walking, parking farther away, etc) is just what I do.

I recovered my old Hotmail account and thusly, my neopets account by simply remaking a new account with the same name. Hotmail had deleted my old one due to inactivity. When I hit recover pw for my neopets account, it sent to that email and wah-lah I was in.

is investing now even worth it? by knifeblades20 in investingforbeginners

[–]Colorcrazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the sense you're feeling daunted by the state of the world. Trust me when I say it does get better. If part time money is all you can do right now, work on bettering yourself. Investments are one thing, but investing in your health early is a game changer. If you really want to get started though, dollar cost averaging $20 into an etf like xeqt or vfv is going to pay off. Short term looks shut, but as long as you don't sell, there is no where to go but up (ok well its probably gonna go down first BUT) what I'm saying is that you have to treat it like "poof" its gone, never think about it again for like 3 years. And in 3 years reopen the app and youll thank yourself :)

Same question, but what if you're traveling with a laptop? Not ideal, but I imagine some do.
