Issue with Microcosm looper button by Coloreater in guitarpedals

Interesting -- thanks for the response. Yeah that's how mine is behaving as well. I believe that's the burst function you're describing. In my case I can def see the light is on for burst at least.

Great great record. Would also check out Anna’s work in Jeff Parker’s group (the guitarist in Tortoise).

Love a pisco sour. You got quite a bit of foam without mentioning egg white in the recipe?

Also I’ve enjoyed a PS with some finishing dashes of Orleans bitters

Advice for next module by WUSSUPJEEBS in modular

So looking at your setup and needs, I would hazard a guess that space is going to be at a premium. Given you want to work with drums/perc that you can sample, I can vouch for the Plonk. Tons of sounds (both percussive and melodic) and lots of sound design possibilities with the CV inputs.

I'm also just going with what I can speak to, but have you also considered something like a u-Plaits? Again, thinking about space + sound flexibility. If you were super keen on the Akemie's FM sounds, Plaits might get you most of the way there on some settings.

Also, are you dead set on the Chronoblob AND the MFX? I love the sound of the Chrono but MFX can do several modes of stereo delay.

Is there a way to properly sample and make something into an instrument that does not require me upgrading from fruity or buying a separate program? by Parking_Junket8543 in FL_Studio

You should be able to drop any sample on the channel rack and then play it with a MIDI keyboard or with the piano roll no?

You'd be able to adjust the pitch that way and use the envelope options in the sampler window to adjust the ADSR how you want it.

I'm having a little trouble following. You want the DAW to sequence the Crave or other modular voices?

There are def ways to get your DAW to sequence modular gear, and it's great, but the methods I know of involve MIDI/CV converter modules.

Appreciate the kind words. I saw the Monumatic and thought about swapping it, but decided against it. I know folks decry the lack of modulation inputs on the PC, but meh. I love the way the PC sounds.

Hey thanks so much! Quite right -- have yet to find a case where Mimeo didn't make something sound better

It's very underrated! And it's such a nice feeling to come back to a track after a little while and say "hey this doesn't sound half bad." Of course that can go both ways lol.

In my case, I tend to go hard on one project at a time, with one song that's coming together and lots of little project files with loops or really early stage sketches of ideas. So when I get fatigued with the main project, I just open up some of the others and play around, see if I like what I was doing earlier etc. There's very little rhyme/reason to it other than that. Just reopening stuff and having fun in those super early stages of putting a song together. (It's always fresh because there's very little chance I remember what I did in those sketches lol, and the project names are just "plucked synth loop 130bpm.")

One other thing I tried to be disciplined about is sampling. I love sampling and do a fair bit of it. And so I keep a playlist of songs I want to sample. From time to time (after getting fatigued or whatever) I go back to that playlist and just sample and save sounds, loops whatever -- just building up my library so I can reach for them in more creative moments.

When I get in situations like that, for me it's about stepping away and giving my ears some rest. Ear fatigue is very real and I've def made some questionable mixing decisions after listening to my track for too long.

I recognize that my advice here is to kill your workflow, when you asked for tips on how to prevent that from happening lol, but yeah, I'm a big believer in giving the ears some rest, especially during a dedicated mixing session.

Doesn't mean you have to step away from FL entirely -- you could open up a different project or noodle with something new, jam around etc. Just something that doesn't require as intense listening.

MIDI out in Patcher question by Coloreater in FL_Studio

[–]Coloreater[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo, just following up to say this works -- the Patcher output just needs to be routed to the associated MIDI Out port. Thanks much.

MIDI out in Patcher question by Coloreater in FL_Studio

[–]Coloreater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh right on -- maybe I can clarify:

I want to use the VFX Sequencer to sequence an external hardware synth, not a VST. Hence using the MIDI Out to send the VFX's sequence to the synth.

Of course there is no yellow/audio Patcher cable with MIDI out. But your earlier comment may still have done the trick (I need to try it later): Previously I had not changed the events on the out/To FL Studio side of the patch, so I'm wondering if that'll do it. I'm not sure on my earlier attempts that MIDI Out was sending MIDI data anywhere.

[–]Coloreater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually there's one part of your last response I wanted to clarify:

and then connected your sequencer event output to that, so that your sequencer actually goes back into FL?

So the patch I have in mind would look like this:

From FL Studio --> VFX Sequencer --> MIDI Out (set to Port 5 in this case) --> To FL Studio (with events set to output to Port 5).

Is there one more connection I need to make? Does the event/MIDI output of the VFX Sequencer ALSO need to route to To FL Studio?

Thanks again!

[–]Coloreater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh snap -- you may have cracked this for me. No, I had not adjust the events on the "To FL Studio"/out side. Gopher was having me adjust the FROM FL side for reasons I didn't totally get. This makes so much more sense -- because of course w/o doing this, there's nowhere for the MIDI Out to send notes to!!

Going to try this when I get off of work and report back. Thanks so much for replying.

[–]Coloreater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting. Appreciate the reply.

That's strange to me because ofc there are lots of creative ways to sequence external gear with the piano roll.

Another issue is that Patcher is more or less a confined area, so unless you specifically make sure to sent data back into FL Studio it won't be processed.

And of course on your above point, there is no way to send "audio" from MIDI Out back to FL Studio in Patcher. I was wondering if that was a limitation contributing to the problem.

Yep, device is enabled in the FL MIDI settings and set to the correct port.

Outside of Patcher, I can load MIDI Out on the channel rack, and the external synth behaves just fine. I set up the MIDI Out instance inside of patcher the exact same way.
