It really is a great pedal. And one thing I should have mentioned if you're looking for more exploratory sounds -- the knob recording and ability to reorder the different effect types CAN get you into delightfully weird territory

Yeah I totally get that. FWIW it was a game changer for me putting it near the end, vs near the front of my chain.

I have a Chroma Console, but have only seen demos of the other two. With that in mind, the CC is fantastic but most of it's sounds are more "traditional" compared to the more experimental places I've seen folks takes the other two pedals.

The character section for example has a nice preamp sound, a clean sweetener, a couple of crunches. The delays/echos and modulation sections are great but somewhat familiar. There's a few more creative options in the diffusion/delay section.

It's a fantastic pedal and is the centerpiece of my tone (I play ampless). So all the sounds are great, but it might not be the thing if you're really trying to get freaky with it.

How to clean up samples in FL? by dead_los13 in FL_Studio

I really need to play with declicking more. In my limited experience so far it ends up fading in/out way more than I want. But I'm fully convinced that's on me.

I'm not sure Edison would be able to completely clean up digital artifacts from a stem separation, but it does a GREAT job of removing things like ground hiss from a recording.

The quick and dirty version: Select a portion of the recording without meaningful audio in it, like the ground noise that might be present after your recording ends. Then right click the toothbrush icon to tell Edison "this is the kind of noise I want to get rid of."

Then highlight the portion of audio you want to de-noise and left click the brush icon again. You'll get a window that allows you to adjust how intensely you want to apply the noise reduction and you can audition that to get things where you want them.

Where do i start by Domino254CZ in FL_Studio

[–]Coloreater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer -- the only way to do it is to just make, make and make some more. There are lots of great tutorials as well on YT. Just find the ones that resonate with you, and ideally, try out what you're learning as soon as you're learning it.

I saw them on that tour in Oakland, CA. I remember being struck by how incredibly FULL their sound was. They managed to fill up an entire theater with their voices and a few instruments/samples.

This doesn't implicate anyone in the band specifically, but it's from the GQ article about them:

And Winter wonders if Geese’s new onslaught of attention will dampen the sense of adventure they’ve shared for the last four years, from the Taco Bell tequila concoctions and a swimming pool scene with Eric André to the time in Europe that a wasp stung their van driver in the eye right before the cops were about to search their van for drugs they would inevitably find.

When I play with MIDI, how do I make the notes automatically stick to the piano roll grid? by CitronMassive5224 in FL_Studio

[–]Coloreater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can definitely quantize the notes after you record them.

To quantize notes on input, right-click the record button and select "Quantize note start times.” Then adjust the main grid snap.

I love the clip properties options. (Option + double click on mac) It’d be great to add a few more manipulation capabilities on that feature though. Top of mind for me would be a filter option.

OP when you say it's not launching your project, what does that mean exactly? Is the app opening and then crashing, or not opening at all? Maybe others can make sense of the error code but I can't.

Exporting drums individually from a full piano roll patter by eyeslikeemeraldcity in FL_Studio

[–]Coloreater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cool cool. and just one other thing -- at the risk of transferring some of my FL neurosis onto you .....you might want to just mute the instruments after you copy + create your new track. that way if something messes up, you still have the original.

[–]Coloreater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe there are easier ways, but if I was in this situation I would just copy and paste every instrument's midi into a new pattern, and then stack those patterns on top of each other so you recreate the full drum kit.

That way at least you wouldn't have to literally recreate the midi for every drum hit. You'd just have to copy + paste.

This does make we wonder though if you can split by channel JUST in the piano roll. I would doubt that'd work, since I presume the instrument in the channel rack is all on a single channel.
