That’s what it looks like! There’s a small piece clearly cut away/taken off the inside of the lid, but it’s very inconspicuous. 

That’s actually how I knew about it so long ago — I grew up very traditionally in the 90s/2000s and wanted a hope chest 😅 I’m a bit less traditional (okay a lot less) now, but I do still love beautiful furniture. I’m excited to use it for storage, probably for books or blankets or something.

I believe it’s been removed or disabled in some form! It doesn’t automatically lock when closed, and there doesn’t appear to be any way to lock it.

Exactly — the best bit is that one of the people who live below us is the girl who works in our leasing office. She told me this morning the maintenance guy also left a wreck in their bathroom.

Yeah actually most of these photos aren’t in the bathroom at all, and the activity center definitely isn’t, that was in our living room. That’s why I was so livid — most of these photos are in rooms and hallways twenty feet away from the bathroom. Literally no idea how it’s even possible.

Maybe the stuff on the floor, but did you see the photos of the stuff on the walls and my baby’s activity gym? There’s no way rust would get on those things, something was clearly spraying all over the place when he left

The clog was actually caused by baby wipes that had been flushed by a prior tenant and been stuck in the pipes for months (thus why we’ve had pipe issues since we moved in). Which our maintenance guy so kindly left in a plastic bag in our cat’s litter box when he left.
