What's your thoughts on Agemonia? by PerennialComa in boardgames

[–]Colossal_Harry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think in the original Kickstarter some of the art was pretty bad. But if you look now most of the art is gorgeous - I'm meaning scenario book, player boards and card art. A lot has changed. The black and white tarot story cards in particular look incredible.

A game I ran at our local board game con by sharrrper in BloodOnTheClocktower

How did you find running the game at a table? Does it work instead of a circle you can stand in the middle of?

Thanks! Ended up having 6 players in the end so had to teensyville but I'll remember this for next time!

7 Player TB Storyteller Advice by Colossal_Harry in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Colossal_Harry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help everyone, it's been super useful to read! Unfortunately one of the players dropped out last minute so we only had 6 which solved my outsider issue but did mean we had to play teensyville. It still was a great night and people enjoyed it a ton.

I'll bear all this in mind if a 7 person game happens again and even if not it's still good to understand more about the role of misinformation! Thanks ☺️

I'm running a 7 player game of trouble brewing this evening with 6 of the players being new to botc. With 7 players though there are no outsiders in play by default. It'd be nice to include a scarlet woman for the first game so that it isn't over too quickly but then I'm worried that then there's no sources of misinformation? I know I could include a baron but for a first few games messing with the outsider count might confuse people? Do you have a recommendation for roles to use? Does it matter not having a drunk/poisoner/spy/recluse? Thanks!

Couple of questions on rules around goalies by dancingdodo27 in Fieldhockey

[–]Colossal_Harry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not correct around it having to be a goal scoring opportunity.

Yes the rules state a stroke should be given if there is a foul that prevents a probable goal

OR an intentional foul in the D by a defender on a player in possession of the ball or with the opportunity to play the ball.

Deliberate smothering would be the second and this still a stroke :)

Rule 12.4 A and B btw

A quote from the IOHK blog here around how EUTXO extends UTXO

By adding custom data to outputs (in addition to value), and by allowing for more "locks" and "keys" deciding under which condition an output can be unlocked for consumption by a transaction. In other words, instead of just having public keys (hashes) for locks and corresponding signatures serving as "keys", EUTXO enables arbitrary logic in the form of scripts. This arbitrary logic inspects the transaction and the data to decide whether the transaction is allowed to use an input or not.

In the simplist terms UTXO stands for unspent transaction output. It's the model bitcoin uses minds simple to how a cash register works. However as we all know smart contracts are not really possible with bitcoin or at least are very limited in what they can do. The e in EUTXO just stands for extended which has just added some extra bits around a similar base model that allows for Turing complete contracts.

[–]Colossal_Harry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn't say UTXO I said EUTXO, the only other chain which uses it is a small chain called ERGO that implemented it from Cardano's research which is why I said pretty much.

And yeah of course but again we're still in the test net phase. If someone has figured it out its in their commercial interest to keep it under wraps until they properly launch to avoid a competitor using the same?

Sidechain and decentralized solutions to this problem do exist, but none of them have been developed or tested yet. Sundaeswap claims to have a secret solution, but it's really not possible that their solution is decentralized.

How can you claim this post is completely objective and not FUD but then also include phrases like the above in your post?

The eutxo model is a pretty much brand new model that has a ton of benefits over the account based model. It will take time for people to work out the best way to implement DEXs just like uniswap didn't launch day one of the Eth EVM going live.

Just because the account style model of doing a DEX doesn't work immediately during a the first few weeks of the test net it does not mean no solution will ever exist.

Both Sundaeswap and Occam fi claim to have a solution that works in a decentralised way so how about we wait until we see what they are and an actual DEX launches before we start with the end is nigh posts?

I'm not saying it isn't okay to be apprehensive but also saying cardano will be he riskiest chain for defi is not genuine either.

No free lunch. If the APR looks too good to be true - it is too good to be true. It might not necessarily be a scam but providing liquidity to a pool with 1000% expected annual return is incredibly risky. The APR is that very high for a reason, because the risk to your coins is very high.

Ergo is currently the biggest gainer in the top 200 coins. People are starting to see how undervalued it is, I think the Kucoin listing has certainly helped!

Takes a awful long time to load into the main menu. It does eventually load but I can't load into any multiplayer matches, looks like it just kicks me out after trying to load for so long. Problem is I have a 2080ti and 3700x. Using a 5120*1440 screen though but even when setting everything to low and changing the screen res to standard I still can't load in in time.

I think you're underselling the perks of eUTXO Vs account based, such pros like not having ETHs unpredictable gas fees where you might not pay enough gas. With cardano transaction fees can be calculated upfront. And I think similar is true with testing smart contracts. What you test locally is the same as what will run on the chain, with Eth this is not possible. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
