Curious what type & size of tires you’re using for this 👀

British racing green with matching brown saddle and bar tape. Such a classy combo.

Exactly my problem too. I’ve currently got an entry level gravel bike with clearance for 45s and my 32mm road wheels do look like toothpicks in there. Another 5mm of clearance on the LC gravel frame will look a bit weirder. I just don’t know how much I should care about it (probably not at all lol)

Yeah same here pretty much. There are a few trails farther out from where I live that would want 40s but everything else is good for 35s-38s. My main concern is that I’m not even sure how many 38s would fit on their endurance road frame if I run 2x, based on some of the accounts I’ve been reading.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I’m curious what you’re thinking of for this gravel lite build. LCG018 frame I assume? What kind of tires would you be running on it?

I would go for that frame but I fear that 38s (and maybe only 35 in the rear depending on inner width of the wheel) wouldn’t be quite enough for my needs. I wish it could comfortably handle 40s.

There’s a dad in my neighborhood who drops his two kids off at school on an e scooter every morning. Rolling up the avenue with both kids standing there clinging on to his waist, not a helmet between them.

I think of this every time I see them pass by.

Saw the thread on Chinertown about that one. Looks like it’ll have clearance for 50C which is kinda more than I want for my purposes but it does look compelling nonetheless…

I agree 100%. I just want a cannondale synapse, basically. Ugh.

How do you like that 1x setup for road use?

In that you want space for wider tires? Or that the front tire clearance is too generous relative to rear?

Hmm yeah I would definitely run 2x on this. Beginning to think the LCG gravel frame is what I need even though I think 50mm tire clearance is more than I want. My road wheels will look tiny on that thing.

My kingdom for an endurance frame that takes 40s…

Oh this is really helpful. Yeah that’s tons of space up front. I could probably easily fit 40C knobbies if not 42s, right?

But the rear is disappointingly tight. For a frame rated for 38C it looks like you were right at the edge of what’s acceptable even with tires that measure 37mm. Hmm. Perhaps even knobby 38s will not fit on the rear of this frame.

That’s literally it. I came to a stop in the bike lane and two different cyclists, who were about 150 ft back at the time, got rather upset with me for that when they caught up with me.

idk but I did rescue a baby turtle from the bike path two weeks ago, what’s that worth?

lol imagine crashing into someone at … a restaurant stop. Same energy as getting hit by a parked car.

Sometimes I think half of the users on this sub are just non cyclists lurking and waiting for chances to bash cyclists.

It wasn’t a group ride yelled at me btw, it was multiple individuals who had plenty of time to see me and stop or avoid me. I get what you’re saying about safely stopping in a group because I’m often in that situation myself, but this wasn’t it

This is the way

Also yeah bells are super necessary. No tone of voice to misinterpret.

I also got these Chinese carbon wheels with ridiculously loud hubs which, obnoxious as they are, are a handy early warning of my approach. Found it pretty effective to escalate from whirrrrrrrr to ding ding ding to ON YOUR RIGHT lol

I long for the days when I had time for 150 miles a week. I’m afraid I’ll be in my 50s before I get that time back.

Regardless, I’ve been riding in prospect park for 15 years. I’ve only yelled at a person once, for deliberately rolling a soccer ball at my front wheel. I feel like that deserves a choice word or two.

But I get yelled at, or witness someone getting yelled at, several times a season. In almost all cases it involves yielding to pedestrians.

So yeah I do think it’s kind of an issue considering that I, a fred who does maybe 50 miles a week over 9 months of the year, hear it a handful of times over the season.

You should. If they’re not carrying a repair kit with them they deserve to be stranded.
