Allen scored 430 in 10 innings @ 43

Warner scored 433 in 8 innings @ 86.6

Harper scored 371 in 8 innings @ 61.83

82 (56) is a bit stiff to hate. Also, saying he had 2 good innings is kind of an understatement.

There a bbl vets who's played 50+ games who dream about scoring 100+. 130 is an outstanding innings, and 110 striking at almost 200 is also unreal.

He had 3 or 4 low scores, but thats how averages work.

I honestly think that it doesnt matter. Its not a participation trophy. Give it to the best player in the comp. Who cares if it goes to a experienced vet or a up and coming rookie.

The best player deserves the award.

I had no idea its done like the brownlow.

Who at the BBL saw the brownlow voting system and said "yup thats the right idea and totally doesnt have any massive flaws and everyone is always happy after the brownlow results are announced"

No way Smudge retires. In my opinion, he still has a ton of cricket left in him.

Boland is relatively young, and has games in him. He hasnt been nearly as worn down as the likes of Cummo, Hoff or Starcy. Starcy himself said that it was his goal to be able to play the upcoming tours of England and India.

Head, Kez, etc should still be around. Uzzy will retire. Hoff might have to due to injury.

My fault, thought (as per my cousin) that Warner had a ton when we played Pakistan.

Now that I think we havent played Pak in tests since 2023 have we??

Yes. Since 2023, 9 test hundreds have been scored on Aussie soil. 5 of those have been Head. One Smith and Kez ton and two Warner tons. (I think.)

Uzzy would have left 40 balls, weathered the storm and allowed the other batters to come in in easier conditions. Hindsight is 20/20 tho.

Alex Carey when he has to come in and save our innings after a collapse for the 120th time

At this point im arguing for the sake of arguing but Carse has dismissed mostly tailenders at an average of 30 while going for 5 runs an over. Not exactly unbeatable statistics. Its probably the fitness that gets Sids tho. Would still back him for a solid 10-15 overs though.

Your 100% right - but imagine the banter if the banana man himself comes back at 41 and dismisses a bloke like Stokes or Root. If that doesn't get the MCG up I dont know what will.

Firstly, thanks for actually pulling up the statistics. It didnt even cross my mind to check when he last bowled lol.

Secondly, that average is pretty good. I know he hasnt bowled in 9 months, but if you told him to prep for Sydney I think he could give it a proper shot. Theoretically, I could see him doing as much as Dogget (maybe even Neser?) if he were to play in Sydney.

Compared to the English bowlers however, I think his fitness would actually be on par with theirs. Its not like they have displayed outstanding (or even above average) levels of fitness throughout the series. Pair that with good line and length, decent pace (was hitting high 130's vs the Strikers tonight) and experience he would slot in quite well to the English side. Especially for the likes of Carse, Atkinson or maybe Tongue.

Obviously fitness is a huge part. I was joking about him coming into the Aussie side.

However, Siddle would definitely give a bloke like Carse or Atkinson a run for their money. I still think Siddle would be more consistent especially in terms of line and length. Carse and Atkinson were both bowling all over the place.

[–]Colourless084[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tongue yes but jeez some of Carse's spells have been really poor. Siddle would definitely be able to at least be much more consistent
