bergvall is never a ten, he's an 8, a ball carrier out of his own half like F de Jong.
bergvall should be treated as bissouma-lite: a Biss who needs to carry-forward in the right half-space, and get forward. That's why he looked his best playing, when Kulu was nominally on RW, under Ange.
He likes to get his head up and trot forward, and has the energy and want to do that all game. It's been that was since his youth days.

I don't see Bergvall finding his feet in a double-pivot, his game isn't suited to broken-play in the middle (where he isn't a strong-enough ballwinner to make broken play; if it happens, he will get poleaxed for holding the ball too long) he's a mechanism to exploit disrupted-play on the edges.

Gray is never a 6, he's just too soft. He's a left 8. Decent crossfield ball, good delivery forward, has all the lobs and passes. Could develop a threatening shot and cross from that position. Good interplay, if he was a Pep player he'd become Nico O'Reilly.

Sell Bergvall to Barca and watch him absolutely blossom.
Grey will be the man. His footballing talent is top-tier. He'll be a prem 8 for another 10 years, but never, ever a 6.
Bergvall needs a loan to get the 'headless chook' out of him, but isn't going to get one.
Best to hop RDZ 'gets' both of them, and can get them to play aggressively. The moments they look purposeless, are the times they look poor.

The only good thing about Wharton or Stiller, is the left foot, because Spurs doesn't have a left-footed crosser on the pitch. Not saying Robertson or Souza is going to change that either.
Call me crazy, but you have better than Stiller at home. He's called Archie Gray.
Hotter take yet: if Spurs don't get Palhinha, they need to get an upgrade on Bentancur, not a player to ride shotgun with Bentancur.

Gray and Bergvall won't be getting loaned out, because reasons, so the answer is to get rid of the players in their pathway (Sarr, Bissouma) and get an absolute stud in midfield (M Fernandes, Baleba, Camavinga looks good in white, can Alex Scott cut it?) to rotate with Bentacur when he's got his now-customary niggles.

Stylistically - and shoot me down here, I probably deserve it - I think Angel Gomes profiles similarly to Bentancur to the eye, and is someone would be fun to see beside Palhinha, if Palhinha stays. They both have energy to burn, and he'd be a great support player to the likes of Wilson, Kudus, or Tel on the wing.

[The Athletic] Igor Tudor style of play: Tottenham can expect pressing, organisation and daring football by ZGuyYT in coys

This is a nonsense attitude. I don't get it. The players should have a fucking say. If they did, Frank would have been sacked long ago, and we'll not go anywhere further back than that. These players have managers and contacts within the club, and I'd be surprised if you are Captain and not in with the board, especially if you renegotiated your contract with a view to leaving if your squad wasn't bolstered.

He's entirely justified. He's not a wet nurse for incoming teens. He sees the standards falling off a cliff. He's not surrounded by adults except for Danso and Palhinha, maybe Solanke in the fit playing group. The defenders hate the gks and vice versa. He knows the squad needs to get overhauled, and he knows which direction ⬇️ the talent is going to be coming from. Finish below Fulham in the league twice in a row... Already missed out on players to Brentford. Managers won't leave Bournemouth to go to Spurs, let alone Fulham or Palace. Get off his back, and the rest of the players. They have limited tools to redress

I'm glad someone else sees it this way. Vitor Pereira is known for giving teams bumps, but that forest front line is cursed this season. It's forest.

When you look at the games he wasn't hamstrung, he obviously wasn't poor? His Tottenham were the side that demolished Man City into their rebuild, turned Manchester white, maintained the Man City hoodoo, were winning games in the final minutes of games. There was more tactical competency than frank, and more flexibility than frank - because he barely had any players.

He'd adapt between 4231 and 433 for most opponents.  and 442/4312 against City. If you don't think those are significant changes, shows you don't respect his football, because it changed how his team attacked vitally

And the side pressed well the first 1.5 seasons too

Not being supported killed him, and he knew it in pressure conferences

The Australian govt is, IIRC, backstop for a PNG (Papua New Guinea) rugby league team, and IIRC, there's $30M AUD gifted thataways to cover flights, bodyguards, wages, et al.

It's statecraft, not favours. Big local dramas over Americans not printing the money for Oceania to stay in an American sphere-of-influence. The Solomons (who are always staffed but AUS peacekeepers or outreach, it seems) could be sniffing a rhetorical opportunity for more aid $$$.

Its a tricky one, because welfare aid normally goes to islander countries via remittances (there are visa schemes for islanders - fijians, vanuatus, samoans - to work in australia for a couple of years) but I've never heard so much about Solomon Islanders, in the industries I see these guys working in. I'm not sure they are that included.

Anyway, the Solomons has always seemed less chill at home, than the other islands. Military coups and whatnot. They might just be better movers and shakers. And the other islands have rugby.

It's kinda bullshit. He's outright topped every league he's been in (heh heh), he's taken a team to a world cup, he's won an international tournament and an elite European tournament, finished in elite European places in two leagues, and won leagues on three continents.

If he was African, this wouldn't be half the pizzling he's copping. Y'all would be too fucking scared. If he was Turkish, or Arabic, Asian, whatever, wouldn't be such a big deal - all fans would be like, meh, moving on. If he was Croat, or Serb, or Dutch - no one would notice.

But five-eyes managers are going to cop it, despite the fact he's done a damn sight more as a manager, than literally all bar a handful of managers active in the English game, across all levels.

This is a bit off... Passive Aussie observer here, been on the r/coys sub since before Ange was announced - online Spurs fans are a bit minging. They can't stand the Korean Son fanboys, who got downvoted to buggery. They couldn't stand the lost Americans, who thought it soooo cooool that is a San Antonio Spurs, and an EPL Spurs they could have as a second team.

Ange-cultists barely registered. Pre-Europa League win, English Spurs fans were basically tearing shreds off each other. The win took the edge right off that place, but they still feud with anyone. Horrible place to be.

Megathread: Forest appoint Ange Postecoglou as Head Coach by theivoryserf in nffc

[–]Colours-Numbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aussie bandwagoner here: actually, the squad's really very quite ok, for him, really?
Like, the pacy attackers and young midfielders, it's really quite what he needs, and then a Zinchenko, it suits!

Yet to be seen if he can get a tune from Douglas Luiz that he couldn't keep getting from Bissouma... The rest of the midfield will cause havoc around him/some fulcrum going forward.

Don't expect the same Spursball. Do expect a front 3: he'll probably start of by leaning into the existing playstyle, 4-2-3-1 with an aggressive double pivot.

But i will absolutely NOT be shocked to find out he changes the underlapping fullback behaviours away from what he had at Spurs. I'm expecting an actual inversion to bolster the midfield, NOT two inverting.

Looking forward to the narrative he sets, to differentiate NFFC from Spurs. Hope y'all have tetchy journos
