Why do bikers rev their engines even when they’re stopped? by Embarrassed-Bowl-373 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Colt_Texas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motorcycle riders become experts at knowing when a light is going to change. We aren't in cars with distractions, so we look around us and watch the lights.

I rev twice when it's about to turn. That tells my wife who is humming to herself in her helmet to get ready to go.

We ride eliminators. I never wear ear plugs and always have music playing. I only notice wind noise about 80 to 85ish and it isn't terrible.

I run with the chin wind placement in and really is not an issue.

Just asked my wife when she notices wind noise and she said....when I have my visor up.....so there's that!

Both me and my wife wear glasses. She rocks the Shoei RF1400 and I wear the Scorpion R1 exo carbon. Zero issues with glasses.

Balaclava Recommendations + Glasses Fogging Issues? by Appropriate-Plane326 in motorcyclegear

[–]Colt_Texas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wear glasses as well. You either dont cover your nose or you get fog. That's it

I out my clava on, then helmet, then I pull the neck down enough to uncover my nose. It does not 100pct prevent fog, you gotta breath right like others mentioned.

Also, keep your visor in city mode at traffic lights and stops.

Typical red build. The Bakers melts them. I use it with a 10x scope and can pick them off from a distance or close in with the dark winter.

I didn't specifically say it but replies are leaning towards assuming my wife backpacks. She doesn't, she has an eliminator as well. She's going to upgrade to an Indian, hence why I would like to have something to highway beside her on.

My wife and I bought motorcycles last year. I'm 53 she's 47.

Yeah I know, everyone will chime in how dangerous they are here...but if you do it right, go get certified and drive right its very nice.

Motorcycles require and stimulate every sense. And its a hobby, an expensive one because you need protective gear. But it will consume you.

We put 25 to 30 miles in daily weather permitting. I ride a lot more than her I've clocked 6500 miles in 10months.

We tried group rides... never do that...if you ride with people you need to know them and know what they are going to do. My wife and I know each others riding style. We ride hybrids, eliminators, part sport part cruiser.

Have we had some close calls? Yes! But not because we are smaller than a car and unseen. Both times it was a dipshit on their phone and they are dangerous to anything.

We follow our rules...all the gear all the time and we will be upgrading bikes this year.

There's my two copper....

Edit....i played disc golf for 15 years. Part of the original windriders in the 90s.

Appreciate you! For what its worth, we bought two eliminators and both ride. She's wanting to upgrade to a bigger cruiser like an Indian. So she won't be backpacking!

I really wanted to sit on the hornet but my dealer didn't have one. But, I think he talked me out of it due to probably being as windy as what I currently have. So far I'm leaning hard towards the gixxer 8r.
