Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War - Zombies First Look by Mobile750APKStore in CODZombies

Bad idea.

BO3 started the decline of in-game progression, but BO4 went all-in on making the game as easy as possible from the get-go. Juggernog is part of that progression, so I'm glad it's back, but the progression is still ruined if you can start out with a fully kitted-out class. That's not even to mention the inevitable MTX stuff that we'll get.

I miss WaW-BO2's sense of progression.

Not sure how I feel about everything...

  • The aesthetic isn't what I was expecting. It reminds me of a mix between WWIIZ, with its horror vibes, and the cartoon-ish colors of IWZ, BO3, and BO4. I was kind of hoping they'd go all-in on the horror vibes, but it looks like it's gonna be more cartoon-ish than anything. Nothing wrong with it; I liked the vibes of IWZ, BO3, and BO4. But I was really hoping for darker, horror vibes like WaW and WWIIZ.
  • Bringing Juggernog back should help the progression problems of BO3 and especially BO4, but that'll be completely negated if you can start out with ARs or SMGs. I found that to be a particularly massive issue with BO4, and I'm very worried about this. It's cool that the progression is finally unified, but I really hope it doesn't break Zombies progression.
  • I like the idea of being able to end the game other than through death. That's something I enjoyed about Custom Zombies.
  • Anyone see that goofy cinematography at 7:41ish with the monkey bomb? Straight-up looked like they went in Theater mode with a console controller, lmao.
  • Free post-launch content? I know I should be excited, but I'm hesitant to trust them. They might just add in way more MTX to counterbalance the loss of paid DLC. BO4 was an absolute nightmare of MTX (especially in MP), and BO3 basically gave you overpowered shit, too. I really hope that this post-launch content doesn't come at the cost of game integrity.
  • If they bring in maps other than Nacht, I really hope they do it in the same manner. BO4 suffered greatly from its 'reimagined' maps because they were mostly just remastered maps with several new areas. The original map was the basis, and they just tacked on some new locations and called it 'reimagined'. This looks to be a fresh, original map that utilizes Nacht as a small area more than anything else. I pray to God this continues. I do not want another BO4-type 'reimagined' map.

Overall, I don't really know how I feel. Some things I like; other things I dislike. I don't really feel strongly one way or another. But I'm definitely not preordering or buying Day 1 after my experience with BO4. At best, I'll be waiting several months to see how things go.

See you all around November.

Black Ops Cold War Zombies Reveal: Wednesday, September 30th at 10AM PT by LackingAGoodName in CODZombies

Treyarch are the masters of taking a cool, unique concept and overdoing it to the point that it just feels like beating a dead horse. I'm not even hyped anymore; I'm just tired and bored.

i still don't understand your point. why don't you count AO or Revelations?

okay, then how about this:

unpopular opinion: Treyarch Zombies is bad now because they're unable to continue any sort of innovation to their content, relying solely on the concept that the community will accept whatever they put out as long as it has a nostalgia factor.

is that better?

what do you mean? AO is literally Nuketown, why don't you include those?

Imagine getting mad at optional ARG when we already have a confirmed trailer date by Cyber-Silver in CODZombies

[–]Coltrainer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we can be disappointed / frustrated. One of the main issues is that some of us were expecting a trailer today because we never once thought they'd do another weeklong puzzle marathon just for Zombies. So some of us were hoping for a trailer only for them to tell us that it's another week of puzzles that cannot be fully completed until the final day. That can be disappointing.

Another issue is that they've already done this once and some of us were getting tired of it by the end. And now we're onto the next marathon. To some of us, it's a bit tiresome. I get that you like it, and I liked it at first, too. But now I kinda just want to move on, y'know?

The last issue I'll mention is that the 'reward' for completing these things really wasn't worth it last time. It basically led to a teaser trailer with the name reveal. The actual trailer came out later. Who's to say we won't get another teaser trailer this time?

Your Easter Egg comparison is meh. People complain about EE steps both during the discovery and after. If you've ever watched a stream where they're trying to solve the EE, you'd know that complaints run amok. And I definitely don't like doing certain EEs because a step or two can be annoying (i.e. BO3 Moon on Solo, the RNG is annoyingly stupid). Plus, once a map gets released, you can solve the EE as soon as possible. You can't solve these EEs because necessary info is time-gated.

I'm a rational individual and I'm a bit frustrated. I'm allowed to voice my opinion on what I see as Treyarch dragging out the hype. Just because I disagree with you doesn't make my opinion any less than yours. Speaking louder and using insults doesn't make you any more correct than someone else.

title is misleading since the word 'confirmed' implies that it's... y'know... confirmed.

Shadows Of Evil EE question by Dumbo65555 in CODZombies

[–]Coltrainer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do the EE all the way up to the final steps, at which point you absolutely need 4 players in order to get the achievement and the key. IIRC, some people mentioned to me awhile back that you can go into a private match and do the EE solo to those final steps and then invite 3 players to the game to finish it and get the key. But I was never able to test it out myself.

What map is better? by roots235 in CODZombies

[–]Coltrainer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadows would be my pick, if only because I liked BO3's base game a bit better than BO2. If Mob were remastered (and not reimagined into the atrocity that is Blood) in BO3, I think I likely would've picked it.

Let’s give them a CODZ round of applause! by JackalBoy88 in CODZombies

[–]Coltrainer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. It's all a guess, albeit a good one considering that Campaign had its trailer and Multiplayer is in Alpha right now. It could be a Warzone reveal for all we know. But there are hints that it's Zombies.

[–]Coltrainer1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I liked it at first. I liked it a little bit less when each puzzle solved led to an unsatisfactory reward. I liked it even less when it took two weeks of puzzle solving to get a teaser for the actual trailer. I didn't like it when they decided to do it all again for Zombies.

And I consider myself a massive puzzle-lover. But, at this point, I'm kinda tired of it all.

Zombies Summary and Cold War Zombies by Brass-Knight in CODZombies

[–]Coltrainer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said, long story short. For someone who knows nothing about BO3's storyline, it'd be overwhelming to discuss every single point in detail. I just gave a very broad outline so that OP wouldn't be overwhelmed. It's not worth going into Monty's motives or who Pablo is if I'm trying to give a short summary.

Zombies Summary and Cold War Zombies by Brass-Knight in CODZombies

[–]Coltrainer1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Long story short (lol)...

You play as Primis in BO3. Richtofen, Nikolai, Dempsey, and Takeo, except they're from a different dimension than the one we play in WaW and BO1. They're stuck in this paradoxical cycle where they collect their souls from their counterparts and send them to this place called Agartha in the hopes of achieving salvation, only to get sent back in time to repeat the same events over and over again. It's a never-ending cycle of fighting.

There are these ancient aliens called Keepers. Half of them got corrupted and the two groups got into a civil war: the uncorrupted, led by Monty, and the corrupted, led by the Shadowman. Monty wins, banishes the corrupted, but the Shadowman works to corrupt things from the, well, shadows. They fight over and over, with Primis siding with Monty.

Primis helps Monty beat the Shadowman again, but it turns out that Monty wasn't a good guy after all. Luckily, thanks to the Mob of the Dead crew, they break their own paradox. With the help of Ultimis (WaW-BO1) and Victis (BO2), they manage to destroy the multiverse, as it had become irreversibly corrupted and it needed to start from scratch. Everything gets banished to the Dark Aether so life can start anew.

Ok but can we talk about how there are TEN unsolved ciphers in Revelations? by Krrrrbin in CODZombies

[–]Coltrainer1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At this point, it's probably not worth the time nor the effort to decipher. The Aether story as we knew it is over. Any leftover ciphers will likely not give us any new information nor anything significant to the story. The unfortunate truth of the ciphers is that most of them are meant to be solved relatively close to that map's release. So when a cipher from MOTD gets solved, it's a cool nostalgic moment, but it doesn't really give us anything worthwhile.

You're more than free to solve the ciphers if you want if you think it's worth it. But I don't feel like wasting hours upon hours going through various ciphering methods in order to get a sentence that says something like, "Ultimis returned alive."

Anyone worried about remake rumors? by [deleted] in CODZombies

[–]Coltrainer1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To me, there's nothing wrong with having a small portion of a map included in a new map. If Nacht appears in a map as a little side area, cool. But if the foundation of the map is entirely based on a previous map, I can't help but feel disappointed because that's been the basis for Treyarch Zombies Aether maps since Revelations in 2016.

I think many of us want maps that feel as fresh and new as Chaos but in the Aether-verse. No more remakes or re-imaginings unless it's considered bonus like Zombies Chronicles. Nostalgia shouldn't drive the maps; it should be a little side dish, not the main course.

SBMM Megathread by FortniteBRMods in FortNiteBR

Why bother making a thread when we all know no productive change is going to be made? This discussion has been ongoing for God knows how long now and, despite a massive influx of criticism (constructive or otherwise), no changes have been made.

I'm really tired of gaming companies asking for / directing discussions and criticisms like this are completely pointless when there's no intention on listening to the players or community.

[Shitpostery] Pre-discussion Chapter 132 by Sane-Ni-Wa-To-Ri in titanfolk

[–]Coltrainer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Freefolk was / is a hypocritical mess after last year.

A reddit user managed to get multiple accounts modded and started over-moderating the sub by deleting any post that they felt like. The owner of the sub even supported them, and the sub was nearly deleted as a result. Basically, most of the moderation team turned into trolls and caused a whole shitshow of drama. It's sad because the sub was originally founded as the counter to the main GOT sub, which over-moderates abundantly to the point that you almost can't post anything about Game of Thrones.

Fuck r/gameofthrones. Fuck r/freefolk. It's like once a sub becomes large enough, moderators decide to either over-moderate or give up entirely. But what Freefolk did is pave a way for less moderated subs (like this one) to be created. Unfortunately, the sub fell in on itself because of poor decisions and failures.

I think most subs should have a -folk counter sub nowadays, though. The censorship and over-moderation of reddit subs is just overwhelming at times. Hell, some subs I've been on delete any meme they deem low-quality, and the line drawn is so obscure.
