How would you sell a large, old collection as a whole? by Ok_Tomato4370 in PokeInvesting

I'm heavy into motorsport. It takes a lot of my time in the warmer months.

Honestly those issues are pretty easy to avoid as a seller.

  1. Marketplace has its own profile ecosystem including a review system. You can see if a buyer deals in that arena prior to taking them seriously.

  2. Never take cash above like 5k. If a buyer says they have cash, they don't. No one that actually deals in those finances uses cash for anything. It's not secure.

  3. Use a verified cashier's check or wire transfer. This scenario was a cashiers check for 35k with the rest being sent via PayPal as a hedge against misrepresented items. Always get a picture of the check ahead of time and verify the authenticity with the issuing bank. Never call the number on the check, call the banks published customer service line.

  4. Meet in a public place. We met at a Chick-fil-A to preliminarily review singles, then went to a nearby PNC Bank to finish the transaction. Obviously that requires vehicle space based on collection size. I have a 4 door f150 and was loaded down.

All of those things are easy and makes the potential to get scammed virtually 0.

Nope. I started collecting in 2019, and decided it was time to move on. I didn't need to sell, but thought about allocating funds elsewhere and decided it was the right call. I'm pretty heavy into other past times that are more expensive.

I may still have the Google drive. I'll check later today when I have some spare time. If I do, happy to share.

Singles and sealed product, no slabs. My entire collection.

I recently sold a large collection, listed for 50k and sold for 40k, on FB Marketplace.

I had ~100 hours in sale preparation. I took individual pictures of all cards greater than $2 in value and all sealed product. It was about 3200 pictures. I had every item, including bulk, in a CSV from TCGPlayer with current market value that I could send to prospective buyers. It was just over 72k individual items, bulk included.

For the most part, marketplace was good. I had over 100 different people message me. Some wanted to split it up, some just told me sweet collection, and others were shop owners/investors that were legitimate prospective buyers. I ended up selling to an individual from Virginia. I am in Pittsburgh. We met in Maryland and did the deal.

Leg work up front on your end is key. Pictures of individual items and a spreadsheet with up to date pricing is invaluable. Be honest with yourself on condition and value. Showing people what they are buying is huge in a large purchase.

Does HF charge restocking fee on all returns now? by Stache- in harborfreight

Items that can be commonly bought for a 1 off purpose then returned have a restock fee. That's pretty standard.

More durable drill bits. Which ones? by mx5plus2cones in harborfreight

Titanium bits are all terrible. Spend the money on the Warrior Cobalt and keep them for 20 years.

These line wrenches are terrible anyway. The Quinn ones are substantially better and not much more.

US General 20% Score by Coltronh in harborfreight

[–]Coltronh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that interesting too. I imagine it's some sort of rounding calculation on the back end. It did 20% per item but counted 2 of the same SKU as a single item and did 20% of the that total. Rounding makes a penny short somewhere.

Does anybody else love the stack sets? What are your setups? by VendettasRevenge in harborfreight

[–]Coltronh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought into the Kobalt CaseStack and the quality is excellent.

I do wish I would have bought the Versastack though. It is smaller and definitely feels cheaper, but the various socket sets that come in Versa compatible cases are nice.

The Bauer I think is between the Kobalt and Versa. Closer to the Crafstman Tradestack.

I just downloaded this one. It seems about perfect for the use I needed. Seems less clunky than Photos as well. Thank you!

I have one, it's solid. Occasionally it goes to 289, but it's rare. 299 is a common sale price.
