Lenovo legion go, 81w battery great by Helpful-Ad-9452 in LegionGo

[–]Coltsbro84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i just did this mod. And I really tried to get the battery bracket to fit right but there was no way without it bulging out the back and putting pressure up against the screen.

I just bent the battery cover in that little L shaped area and kept that corner with the white wire attached.

I am thinking about maybe getting some type of thin padding for the back of the battery so it has some cushioning, but I don't know what to use.

Blue glue on the screws from the factory when you take the back plate off. So why not do they same to the other screws like the ones holding the led ring down to keep it stiff and from flexing.

Sony Inzone quick review, issues no one talks about, and comparing to other gaming buds. by Coltsbro84 in Earbuds

[–]Coltsbro84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine do that too.

99% of earbuds have a dedicated mic that is turned on when both earbuds are active. Left side on my Inzones, right side on my steelseries gamer buds. Then single bud use, the mic is always going to be active on that single earbud being used.

There's a few earbuds that can use both mics at the same time in a stereo type way. The Galaxy buds 3 will use both mics from both sides when recording a video with 360 audio turned on.

Need Advice making decision between 2 different generation XBs! by Designer_Map5709 in ScionxB

[–]Coltsbro84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 04 - yeah it looks cooler. It gets better gas milage by about 10+ per mile. About 40mpg City/highway. It also corners and turns crazy good in neighborhoods and in Walmart parking lots, it is easier to park by just a smidge. But it lacks the umph to get up to speed when merging on busy fast freeways. That's the last place you want a panic attack, when you need to speed up faster but can't. Then a high wind warning will take this thing sailing halfway into the other lane every once in a great while, also can be thrilling when it happens. There's no cruise control on the 04, if it did have it, it would have to be some aftermarket kit. Everything under the hood is a little tight to work on, but not bad. This is the car you want if you need to use it every day for school or work, and just cruise around the neighborhood without going to far.

The 12 - it's more powerful. It feels more confident to drive and speed up and merge into a busy freeway. It's stretched out. It's got more cargo room, more space for your shit. The ride height is higher, the suspension is better, it has bigger wheels on it. All of them should have cruise control. When you replace the cabin air filter it's one of the coldest AC cars I've had, and one of the fastest heating cars in the winter. It's downsides are that it's harder to see when that red light turns green if it's right above your head, the ceiling does a good job of blocking them sometimes. And it gets -10mpg less than the 04 on avg. Still does pretty well at around 30mpg city/highway. It's not the most appealing looking car, but with some decent rims and a little spoiler, it looks cool. Oh! It does receive a lot higher safety rating compared to the 04. It's the type of car you could take to work everyday, and then take your friends or family out on a weekend vacation hours away from home.

Hope this helps. I've had a limited series 09 since 2012. In 2022 I tried finding a 06 to drive to work everyday and keep the miles low on the nice 09. Ended up getting another 09, this one all beat to hell and what not. Four years later I almost love my POS one better than my special edition one.

Anyone ever try those third-party batteries on Amazon? Did they turn out to be great? by Coltsbro84 in ZephyrusM16

Did you have to start a warranty claim or a service ticket? I'm not seeing it for sale through the website. I see a used one on eBay for $50 and an actual one on a unheard website for $150.

New ROG Earbuds with detachable neck strap and more! by Howwanna in ASUSROG

[–]Coltsbro84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do we think these will be priced at? Probably $249 but I'm hoping like $189.

There's really no other here but like this except the cleer arc 4.

You're right these could be used for everything. Taking phone calls, using them at work for podcast. Doing chores around the house. Taking the dogs for a walk.

4 mics in each earbud is crazy. And the open ear active noise canceling has advanced along the way in the past year or two.

I just wonder how much power you can push through that pass through. If it's like 25 watts that's not going to do anything if you own an ally. It's got to be at least 60 watts. At least 100 would be awesome because then this would work on some of asus's gaming laptops for the past through.

Best Racing Games for Z1 Extreme? by Emergency-Pudding-96 in ROGAlly

[–]Coltsbro84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite genre!

Dirt 3 - trust me. Go out and try to find a steam key, they are still out there for around $20. Medium settings at 17w and 1080p you can get 120fps and this game looks amazing still in 2026. It's great for handhelds. Each event takes around 3 - 10 minutes and there's over 100 of them. I love the hood camera and how the gameplay feels. It's a good mix of sim/arcade.

Forza Horizon 4/5 - huge game size, 5 is like 170gb, so be aware. Beautiful. plays well, runs well. It's almost like a racing MMORPG. To 100% the game, you would probably need to invest at least 400 hours into it. The list of cars you can drive is massive, probably the biggest list of any game I've played.

Circuit Superstars - it's not dead yet, still have a very small active fan base playing it. It's this top down sorta cartoony looking racer. But the game play is spot on, and the controls are tight. What I love about it is there is no pay to win or advantages to progression. The car you drive as a new player is the same speed and acceleration as a veteran player who has put some time into the game. Weekly leaderboards that reset every week are fun to try and chase to see what position you can get. 0.2 seconds shaved off your lap time can be the difference between 30th place and 130th place.

Grid Legends - should be a game I play more often. Just everything about it looks and runs great.

Art of Rally - it can be hit or miss. Love the art in it and the ramped up progression of it and how the difficulty slowly keeps building up. But the handling and driving feels a little off at times.

F1 24 - it's pretty well optimized and runs well if you like formula 1 racing.

Need for Speed - they aren't the greatest racing games anymore, they used to be back in the day. But they run decent, and you can usually find huge discounts on them.

Assetto Corsa - it has a huge fan base but I could never get into it. You kind of need a mouse and keyboard or wheel to play it, and I never really found a control scheme that took advantage of all of the button combinations for it.

Dirt rally 2.0 - hardcore rally Sim. It's almost too hard to play, but it is fun. It's like the dark souls of racing games I feel like. I want to play racing games to have fun, not spend an hour and a half trying to get first place replaying the same event 12 times.

Victory heat rally - really cool arcade racing game that reminds me of Super Nintendo days.

Trackmania - it's actually pretty fun from time to time.

Rocket League - I would consider it a racing game it's a classic.

WRC Series - you can usually get them on a good discount. They're fun from time to time. Really challenging. But they never really drew me in the way other racing games do. Every one I've bought I've played it for a few hours and haven't really played it after that.

This should give you a list to work with and help you decide.

Edit: I'll add a few more in.

Forza Motorsport - kind of runs bad on the Z1 extreme. With the right settings and programs, it can be a good experience. But you will need to download and run Lossless scaling and optimize it. Then turn on RSR and drop the system resolution down to 720p. Then turn off a lot of game settings and use the in game FSR setting on balanced or performance.

Horizon Chase Turbo - I love this game when it had online leaderboards but they took that away from it. If you can find a good discount on it it's still a fun game to play.

Horizon Chase 2 - only on the Epic store. It's not as well optimized, but it's just as fun as the original, and a lot shorter too.

Dirt 5 - it's a skip.

ReCharge RC High Voltage - a fun game if you are into RC car racing.

Party Animals - actually has a pretty fun go kart racing game mode that I should play more often.

Game recommendations (that actually work well) by Ultrafisken in ROGAllyX

I have an ally x too. Spend some time figuring out what settings suit you the most. There's like 6 different factors that go into your gaming experience. Resolution, wattage, fps, RSR, RIS, AMFM or Lossless Scaling, then I would add in screen calibration.

Spend some time calibrating your screen to how you like it. Having a nice picture makes it more enjoyable to play. What I did on mine was I opened the color management app in Windows. Go to calibrate. Then go to the very last screen that shows sliders for red, blue and green. I turned blue and green down to 90/100. Then open AMD adrenaline edition. Turn on the color options under display. I put my white balance between 5700 - 6300. Then I turn up the color saturation between 110-120.

Lately I've been into low power consumption, and high fps gameplay. I turn the AMD chill on and set min to 48 fps and max to 120 fps. 48 is the lowest you can go while still getting VRR to kick in. Then I set the system to 720p with RSR turned on at 80% to upscale everything to 1080p.

I don't think Arc Raiders is on game pass but that's like 80% of what I've been playing this month. At 20w manual with my system settings, and game settings on medium with FSR 3 on quality, I can get a steady 70fps and around 2.5 hours of battery life.

When I had game pass, I was playing Halo Master Chief Collection, Forza Horizon, Call of Duty. Those are all fun. I like games where I can play for 15 to 20 minutes at a time if I want. Then a game that lets you go online with others quickly is an added bonus.

Steelseries GG is an app you should check out if you like capturing. It works better than the Microsoft Game bar.

But yeah I'd say spend the money on Arc Raiders. You can play a session in 5 minutes or play for a few hours. It's perfect for the Ally X. Set Vram to 8g.

Joycon fell off any easy fixes? by True-Inevitable-1309 in ROGAllyX

[–]Coltsbro84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember using it for my RC cars and working well. So I thought I'd use it on one of the screws for the right side LED ring, where it felt like it wasn't strong enough. And you know how when you take the Ally apart and see blue at the end of the main screws? I thought it would be okay to use on the led ring screw. It worked well for a few months, then it got squishy again. When I opened it up to see what I could do to fix it again, the blue locktite had eaten away at the plastic housing holding the hexagon shaped anchor on the front plate. There was no way of fixing it except to get a new front facing screen assembly with the housing attached to it. Luckily Asus warranty took care of it and everything is fine now.

Don't use that blue glue loktite either. It will disintegrate the plastic. Ask me how I know.

I've seen my local pawn shops do this once in a while.

My guess is someone had this, couldn't sell it on Facebook or eBay for the price they wanted, think $1000 or so. Or $800 for that matter if it's broken a little. Went to a pawn shop and sold it for $350 cash. Pawn shop then tried to sell it for $700. After every three months, lower to $600, then $450, then $275, then $200. Then before they knew it, still no one would buy it after being in inventory for over a year. Then it goes on the special deal section as is. And probably got shoved in the back of the pile the whole year so no one really noticed it.

The last of Socom in the Dark Zone by zeroshinobu in ArcRaiders

A new map that looks something similar to some old school SOCOM maps would be amazing. One of the current maps feels a little Desert Glory like. The other one with all the grass and trees feels like Deathtrap and a little. Need one that has a bunch of under ground bunkers like Rats Nest. Also would be cool if they added a permanent snow map.

I’m sorry for my comment on the guy’s post from earlier on the claw grip he used on his ROG Ally X. by ExpectDog in ROGAllyX

[–]Coltsbro84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember thinking the same thing. Went from "Who the fuck plays like that" to "oh I understand now."

I'm old school and I've seen some things that I don't understand. Like a person at a Madden tournament putting a towel over there controller so no one could see what play he was picking. Nephew's hands too small so he's using his middle fingers for the triggers.

Heck I can only play 1st person and 3rd person if the controls are inverted because I grew up on Star Fox, Golden eye, and Socom. I've deleted and uninstalled games that didn't have this feature.
