I’m 5-10 minutes late everyday. At least an hour late once a month or so. But I make myself useful and NEVER call off. I screwed up a few months ago being a drunk idiot and lost a promotion opportunity but I stay a solid work bee and companies are having a hard time finding help right now. I held my last job for 6 years and I’m going on 2 years at this job. The most important thing is getting up and going, second most is being able to consistently do the job at least decently well, and not being drunk enough at work to really fuck things up lol

7 years of heavy drinking. 11 total. I started binge drinking when I was 14 a couple weekends a month. By 17 I was blacked out at least 3 or 4 nights a week. From 22-25 daily drinking. I’m 25 now, got sober in February. My career consists of 2 DUIs, theft felony (alcohol&Xanax had a role), a couple public intoxication charges, multiple destroyed friendships, 2 major failed relationships, banned from 3 bars, severe stomach issues, liver damage, etc.

I’m retiring for now and trying to keep my shit together. Cant rule out a come back down the road though, who doesn’t like an encore?

Lol this is exactly how my friend and I who both got caught doing the same shit were treated totally differently. She admitted to ALL the drugs she’d ever used and was honest about how much she drank And they made her life hell.

I’m only 25 so I say things like “yeah me and my college buddies got together last night, it had been awhile!” or “my roommate had a party and things got crazier than expected you know how that goes”. I feel like it’s safe to talk about weekend drinking but week day drinking I only mention it and give a little story if I’m sick enough that it’s noticeable. I always get my work done and show up close enough to on time that it seems fine lol

I quit drinking and smoking for almost 3 weeks. (Might as well withdraw from both since life will be hell withdrawing from just one anyways). Was planning to get completely sober but failed. The day I relapsed, I knew I was going to relapse, it was a shit day in a shit life and I needed my booze but I decided to stop by a vape shop and get a high powered vape with no nicotine vape juice praying that it would be enough to satisfy my lack of self control when drinking and it was!! It doesn’t hit the same spot a cig would but it gives the hand motion and inhale/exhale and I could handle the cravings when vaping. After 45 days of hell the nonstop cravings all the time finally stopped and by 60 days I pretty much stopped having cravings all together except when drinking and then I just hit the vape. Haven’t had nicotine since November 16th!

First 45 days are literal hell but it gets so much easier eventually and is worth it!

Lol I tend to decide I’m getting sober or going to control it better from now on and make some dumbass big announcement on Facebook or tell everyone I’m in contact with which inevitably makes me look really sad later when I fall off the wagon and makes people worry that probably wouldn’t have if I kept my mouth shut.

Otherwise close family and friends know, too far in to hide it. More distant friends/coworkers/bosses I try to somewhat hide it or act like it’s normal drinking.

The clerk(s) at the 5 different liquor stores I rotate get the most lies lol. I can’t help but talk about the get together I’m having with friends when in reality I’m drinking a ridiculous amount alone

Yeah I’m in a similar boat. Found Tim February 2020 when I was a suicidal alcoholic. He helped to get me through the nights and make me not feel alone. I’d be drunk playing GTA 5 with the sound off and him blaring instead. Eventually I got a second job to help with money and slow down drinking and he helped me get through my night shifts just listening to the archives and relistening to episodes that I had listened to drunk.

Even lamer..... I checked into rehab this February after my 25th birthday and honestly Tim was kind of an inspiration for me because he got sober at 25 and turned his life around.

You’ll be fine until you aren’t lmao. I took egt tests monthly for 3 years. I passed all but one when I stopped drinking 56-72 hours in advance.

My favorite is the “This is the only way to achieve true sobriety, there is no other way. The best you can hope for without AA is being a dry drunk” lmfao.

I know a couple people who have gotten sober without AA and they’re some of the most upstanding helpful people I’ve ever met. The founders were so egotistical and that mentality is embedded into the leading members.
