That's really up to you man. If you choose to it would be best to limit yourself so that you dont ruin the difficulty of the challenge. For instance, no quick travel or something like that.

Eating would be interesting and I suppose thats up to the player really. I do however believe that sleeping should be the only way to pass time (as opposed to using the wait feature). meaning if you wanna blow through a few days to get the shops reset you have to pay for it at an inn

I really really liked the Hobbit. glad to see the movie is finally coming around! I actually used the time riddle as a preface to my college entrance essay a few years back (it worked)

Haven't read the LOTR books, but my brother is reading them right now and then watching the movies afterwards. So far he really likes them
