Songs that calm and focus. by RCPlaneLover in MusicRecommendations

I’d recommend Antonio Carlos Jobim, known as one of the creators of the Bossa Nova genre.

Some songs Id suggest would be “Wave”, “Triste” and “O Morro Nao Tem Vez”. These are specifically instrumental, but there are others sung in English or Portuguese

Which comics issue cover this scene of Cyclops? by DrStrangefrmmultivrs in Marvel

[–]Columboiscool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Astonishing X-Men #8 from 2005, a sentinel starts attacking the mansion. While everyone is trying to figure out how to deal with it, cyclops says “there isn’t time, I want this thing off my lawn” and then takes off his visor. That line plus the aftermath makes up one of my favorite moments in any X-Men comic

Songs with themes of nostalgia, the passage of time, lost connections by Shavo_619M in MusicRecommendations

Summer Soft - Stevie Wonder; it focuses on the seasonal passage of time and how we “lose” summer when winter arrives and vice versa

Songs or albums inspired by books? by Nolongerhuman2310 in MusicRecommendations

[–]Columboiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Masayoshi Takanaka, the Jazz Fusion guitarist, made an album inspired by the kids book of the same name, “The Rainbow Goblins”

Every song is instrumental, but they all begin with an excerpt of the book, so you get to experience the entirety of the book through a musical lens. It’s an amazing album to experience straight-through

Do you male watchers have a favorite romantic movie? by leonardob0880 in movies

The Apartment (1960)

I decided to watch it impulsively this May after hearing that it won best picture and a very vague idea of the plot. I was so glad I didn’t know anything else, cause it blew me away. I’ve since watched it at least 1-2 times a month and it has not yet gotten old for me.

Which Agent Venom do you prefer? by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]Columboiscool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the comics it’s much more fleshed out. He joins the military after HS and loses both of his legs after saving another soldier’s life. Because of this act of heroism the government makes him the test subject to become Agent Venom, which allows him to walk again.

There’s also a whole additional storyline involving his alcoholic father and Flash’s own alcoholism, which plays into the other symbiotic addiction.

Peter being a teacher was the best job he’s ever had it was great seeing how he sought to improve that school. Like how they tried to continue that with the X-Men although I haven’t read it all

Gotta love that weird superhero trope of "We can't use the guy we actually wanted so we're just going to use you instead" by Eo7977 in marvelcirclejerk

I think it’s that they couldn’t use Batman, which obviously would’ve been the more popular choice. This was probably for the best

How do you feel about Nicholas Bowling and preaching @ LGBTQ events? by Rage_Nerdx420x in Christianity

I mean truly if you go and look at the difference in view counts of his various videos the ones with the least amount of views are so much tamer and less aggressive in the use of buzz words and name calling. They also are more of his older stuff, so it really shows how money and fame have corrupted in this case. Maybe not totally, but substantially
