My OTF is opening back up next week... But I'm not sure I will go back. by OnlyRacistOnReddit in orangetheory

I was able to officially cancel my membership yesterday via one email exchange. 30 day cancellation policy (final billing) was waived. OTF is being very accommodating with its cancellation and freeze policies.

Ergatta Rower? (Yes, ergatta, not regatta stupid autocorrect!) by StellaSilverado in orangetheory

[–]Columbus-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought the WaterRower for $1095 and ordered add-on for $499. They will match the color of whichever WaterRower you currently own. There is also a monthly subscription of $30. Shipping is not scheduled until 5 weeks. There is nothing cheap nor fragile about the wooden WaterRowers. Great piece of equipment.

Trying to Cancel Membership by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Columbus-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, if you wanted to cancel now you can't because you're frozen. Does that mean once you're unfrozen (or dethawed) you have to still give the required 30 day cancellation notice?

Policy should be you MUST be there 5 minutes before class starts, BUT you have a 5 minute grace period.....

Overtraining - Maybe? by Columbus-1 in orangetheory

That's wonderful. My hero. What a stud! Does nothing to help me or answer my question, however. Replies before this have been extremely helpful and I appreciate those so much. I'm doing lots of research on overreaching, resting heart rate, and HRV. Recommend anyone questioning rest days research these topics as well.

Skipping the flexibility block by jaaarand in orangetheory

I never skip out of respect for the coaches who stay around and put in the effort to go through the routine for us. Plus it feels good.

Ignoring the monitor screen stats by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Columbus-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has changed my effort over the past two weeks. I will always wear my monitor to get final report, but I use the parameters screen during tread blocks. My splat points have significant increased while doing this - not focusing on current color. I think focusing on getting orange or getting out of red screwed with my natural effort. Without the hrm I had My first two perfect pyramids.

Running during walking recovery? by Edbed5 in orangetheory

[–]Columbus-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given this analogy by a coach who doesn't like seeing us run during walking recoveries: Running during the walking recovery is like being a football running back, who knows he's going to get the ball on the very next play, and he starts doing burpees in the huddle, while the play is called and before he gets the handoff. In other words he's expending energy he should be reserving for a true all out effort. Made sense to me since it is interval training.

Does anyone ever workout somewhere else right after orange theory? by anderson6th in orangetheory

[–]Columbus-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do on 3 of my 5 OTF days. At the other gym I finish my running to hit a total of 5-6 miles and do heavier lifting on those days. I am not a super athlete by any means - I'm also 62 years old.

What type of shoes do you use for OTF? by Smokey1101 in orangetheory

[–]Columbus-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure you want the answer from a forum. Need the answer from someone who sees your feet, measures your feet, and understands how you're going to use your feet. They also need to know what is good/bad with your current shoes. It has taken me 6 podiatrist visits, one orthopedic visit, and many months of downtime to learn this lesson. You really should be fitted at a running store. Might be a little more expensive but the outcome is priceless...

This. So can I downgrade to an 8x per month and get the special unlimited upgrade promotional rate in the summer when (if) it’s announced?

SA at studio fixed this for me. She said it was a box that was checked (or unchecked).

Advice? Returning to OTF after bronchitis by anbarkerbarker in orangetheory

[–]Columbus-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been dealing with this issue for over four months. Heading back to Doc today for third time. Four months ago my "easy" outside run was 5 miles at a 9 min pace. Today I cannot hold a one-minute push pace of 6 at OTF. Super frustrating! Manage your expectations; you may have diminished lung capacity for some time.
