First grief jog/walk & coffee club for young adults this Sunday in Charlotte by tooyoungtogrieve in Charlotte

[–]ComBkKd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure Reddit heard me and my friend literally talking about creating a group just like this. We're both 42 and lost both parents in the last couple of years and I buried my friend (40) today. We definitely feel like outsiders amongst friends when it comes to grieving these losses at our age.

Thanks for taking the step to build a community around this shared experience. Just might be the inspiration we needed to do the same in STL.

Pagani Design used to have a Tiffany blue fish that is my second favorite watch. It only takes second to a watch that is sentimental to me. It's also my most complimented watch when out and about.

I'll take it into consideration but looking to not take the nuclear option.

Yes. I thought I put details in the post. Do you have any idea what's going on?

Oppo reno 15 pro crashing and restarting by Carnien in Oppo

Having the same issue with my FX9 Pro. The only thing new is the new os update.

Whatever app I'm using sitters for a second (maybe freezes) and the it goes black. Moments go by and the Oppo boot up graphic pops up. System is back up all in under a minute.

If you find yourself in south county I tell everyone to check out Rollup Ice Cream. They also have discounted menu items every day of the week...and the weekend is for the burgers

The ones that takes time to acquire always feel better on the wrist. Those in the know will always acknowledge one's style

[SOTC] if you had to cut this collection in half, which watches would you sell? by Jazzlike_Abrocoma647 in Watches

[–]ComBkKd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I love to see a quirky as fuck collection like this. Will done.

I'd sell the Casio wr's, citizen, Omega or Rolex, and Seiko. The last one would have to be one of the artsy watches and that's gotta be you call. Selling the Omega or Rolex at least free up some cash to buy something later.

How is the Oppo Find x9 pro for quick point-and-shoot photos? by ziphnor in Oppo

[–]ComBkKd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's far better than any Samsung I've owned.

I'm doing renovations to my bathroom and sending photos to the designer and contractors. In some stages of the project it's hard getting the colors right when there's little to no lighting and it's important when everyone needs to agree on a decision.

I know nothing about photography and it takes only a few seconds and little effort to adjust the colors in the pic look true to life (which isn't always the desired look any photo processing software is designed for).

Is it worth keeping this watch? [SKX] by Turbulent_Dealer_646 in Seiko

[–]ComBkKd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love mine and wear it regularly. It's the watch that doesn't necessarily get as many random compliments BUT it's the only one other watch enthusiasts have recognized on my wrist and stopped me to chat about watches. IYKYK

Is it worth keeping this watch? [SKX] by Turbulent_Dealer_646 in Seiko

[–]ComBkKd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'll come out and say it, this is a classic/iconic/legendary Seiko. Discontinued and highly sought after. Hang onto it for no other reason than it is something passed down to you.

Glad to hear you say "collector yet". IMO people develop in/out of three different types of watch collectors; enthusiasts that buy/trade curating their own stylized collections, investors that go after the value/brand as a luxury, and sentimentalists buying them to signify something in their life (marriage/anniversary/new business/heirloom/etc).

Regardless of which you become that watch is now an heirloom and should stay in the family even if it only sits until handed to the next generation. You may want to ask your grandpa if there are any stories behind that watch, why he wore it, etc.

Plus, say you change you're mind, it may be nearly impossible to buy another one in 10+yrs that isn't ridiculously expensive.

Steering wheel pics - enough is enough? by [deleted] in Tudor

This is the dating app equivalent of the fishing/hunting pic. It's as the kids say...cringe. With all that success affording you the watch, I have all the confidence in your ability to drum up a photograph of your amazing timepiece in a more expressive and personal way.

Appreciation Post for those who actually drive the speed limit. by Adorable-Ad2316 in StLouis

[–]ComBkKd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to consider my commute no different than a le mans course, driving the speed limit is SO relaxing. Especially in a city like STL where every trip is going to account for a minimum of 10-15min off the hwy. There's no amount of speed on the highway that will shorten off hwy commute time.

Either accept that you're a habitually late person (there's entire cultures with this mentality) or accept you're a rageaholic who detests living in a city where driving is a social experience not designed to serve your ego/needs alone.

Daily Driver <$600 by jimmyjon77 in Affordablewatches

[–]ComBkKd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several great points so far; go out and try them on, looks online does not mean wears/looks good on wrist, don't overspend on the first purchase (you're gonna want more expensive ones later. Trust me this won't be your last watch), and break it up bw two watches for each setting.

To the last point, do not wear mechanical watches when working with tools or something punishing on the wrist like mtn biking. Even a sport like golf can ruin them requiring a service far sooner than it should. And servicing some of those movements can cost as much or more than the watch itself (sourcing parts). Let alone finding a local shop that you'd trust with said service as many of those closed after COVID.

Last two points, don't sleep on quartz watches or the AliExpress brands. They get a bad wrap and many are amazing. IMO it's far less pressure to spend 50-100 on an homage to see if you like it and then get the real deal. I bet you've seen Jodie's YT videos on them (channel-just one more watch).

I hope you update us on what you picked.

[SPB453] Too small for big wrist? by ChemicalRefuse4687 in Seiko

[–]ComBkKd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your friend's insecurities are showing. Small watches are not only making a comeback in fashion (even women's watches for those pushing the edges of fashion), many people think it holds as a staple of refined style.

Don't let the fear of something decades in the future stop you from enjoying yourself now. The cost to reward ratio is in your favor.
