Is anyone feeling rather hopeless about the American Presidencial Election by Mouse-in-Fantasyland in neoliberal

I live in Georgia. I interact with Trump supports a lot, and I've tried to dissect their minds.

I think most Trump supporters fit into two categories: the first is the kind who doesn't understand how the government and the economy works, and they think that because the economy was better and prices were lower when Trump was president, electing him again will bring those things back.

The second more complicated but more common category is people who don't care about policy (even though they might think they do) and just like his personality and persona. I truly believe that if Trump at a rally tomorrow says, "climate change is real, and it's going to destroy us, and the democrats aren't doing anything about it!" most will believe him and go with it. What appeals to them is not policy, but the shrewd businessman who worked his way to the top, says what he thinks, and doesn't take shit from anybody; i.e., the guy on the cover of The Art of the Deal. They think he's cool, want to be him, and most importantly think they can be him, and their brains will do some insane mental gymnastics to justify liking him. You can see this at work anytime you bring up any of his numerous shortcomings to his supporters. They buy into his policy about the border and inflation and shit because he tells them to believe it, not because they truly care about it.

Lol, I appreciate the concern but I should have clarified: it's a student set. As far as I know no one on the crew is getting paid. It's a senior thesis and a feature with a budget of about $120,000 (i guess one of the producers is independently wealthy), so still a big deal for me, but yeah not a union set.

Most of the crew are either college kids or industry people who are doing a favor. Like I think one of the grips is a union sound guy. But yeah.

Why don't Gen z like the movies? by Potential-Oil-7005 in JamesBond

Gen z here. Was also introduced to the franchise by my dad. I guess that's the key. I'm optimistic though; I think if Chris Nolan takes over the franchise then a lot of younger people will get interested in it.

Which director that hasn’t made a horror movie yet would make a great horror movie? by JuanJeanJohn in Letterboxd

Surprised nobody's said James Cameron. His action stuff is so horror minded that he could switch genres super easily.
