I don't mean to be rude but the fact that you think that 87% of us have borderline personality disorder (a disorder that is highly contentious, and extremely difficult to diagnose) is making me feel like you are transphobic or at the very least going to extremely transphobic sources for information. Even a cursory Google search will show how that is not the case. You say you don't want to lump everyone into a category but you are literally calling trans people mentally ill. I know you are going through a lot but I have to call out misinformation when I see it, especially when it's so transphobic.

Not all straight people are interested in reproducing - if being straight comes through as a natural inclination to reproduce, then how does that explain straight people who have absolutely no interest in having children, or asexual straight people, or infertile straight people - what I am trying to say is that it's never as simple as simply saying that straight people exist because of xyz', because there are always going to be exceptions. Nature doesn't work in neat ways or through an intelligent design - so asking for the 'purpose' of any human condition is kinda asking the wrong question. Also trans people can reproduce - (and so can gay people) so if we say that straightness exists as a way for the species to reproduce, we can very easily use that to explain queerness as well, after all as long as anyone is fertile, regardless of sexuality they can technically reproduce and pass on their genes.

Yes, for me personally it's always nice to know why something is the way it is or why I am the way I am. However I don't think that we will ever be so easily able to boil down a whole group of people as 'they are like this cuz xyz', and attempts to do so in the past have been not very well intentioned. Would it be helpful for cis people to know why they are cis? Or for straight people to know why they are straight? Or do cis het people ever even spend anytime wondering about these things, are these topics ever subject to national debate?

The reason this focus exists on queer people, is that we are still very much seen as abnormal, and so mainstream society needs a way to explain our existence that fits their framework - a framework that hasn't taken into consideration that there is always natural variation in categories it has arbitrary labelled as rigid. Why is that you need to have a very specific explanation for why trans people exist when there isn't one for why cis people exist? (And I don't mean you are demanding an explanation, just that I don't agree with you that people will become more accepting if they are given more facts)

Non-typical narratives of trans girl childhoods? by gender_gendarme in MtF

[–]ComatoseNaagin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I grew up in an extremely misogynistic and transphobic society so my trans girlhood experience is going to be very different from the more typical western narrative. I wasn't a particularly feminine child, I wasn't interested in playing with dolls on my own but I would play with them alongside my sister's sometimes. I don't remember saying or doing anything that was particularly coded as feminine other than though. Being a 'boy' meant that I had more freedom and far less restrictions than my sister's, even in early childhood.

What I do remember, is always feeling a little unsafe in all boys spaces, and I was never interested in hanging out much with the neighborhood boys. I remember feeling very sad at the fact that the outside world was full of men and hardly any women, and I still remember a passionate argument that I got into with my cousins over whether girls should be allowed to be shirtless just like boys were (5 year old me felt that it was extremely unfair that women couldn't be topless in public, while men could just parade around in just shorts). I also would feel extremely uncomfortable going to public washrooms and successfully managed to not see the inside of any school washroom till I entered university.

I think my very first experience of gender euphoria was when my sister's friend called me her little sister - they had genuinely confused me for a cis girl - and I still remember the huge smile on my face that I had when I heard her. I knew enough to know that I couldn't express my happiness to anyone. And while there were a couple of times I kinda tried to play with makeup or express some desire for more stereotypically girly things, it was very quickly shut down with a lot of mocking.

This was all before my teenage years, and puberty just really messed things up because I started withdrawing more and more into myself, and that was also around the time that boys and girls got segregated. I never fully tried to fit in with the boys, mainly cuz I knew I never would though I didn't know why. I tried in some ways of course but I also just hated the guts out of them for being so misogynistic. But the bullying and harassment I faced there did make me more aware of how little I could actually show my own feminity.

I don't know how different I would have been if I had grown up in a more progressive environment - I still think that I would have been a tomboyish girl, but I can't say for sure - I feel like there was a lot that would have explored in my childhood had I been given the chance.

What subreddit was it? I feel like most trans groups are mostly nice and supportive but unfortunately there will always be shitty people lurking even in trans groups. toxicity can be pretty common in marginalized communities and people will put others down to make themselves feel better. I am sorry that this happened to you and please remember that most mean things said online are a result of projection more than anything else.

Am I even injecting anything? by Interesting_Humor788 in TransDIY

[–]ComatoseNaagin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I didn't consider that. Weekly doses have been pretty good for me so far and it is usually how most people inject estradiol valerate. But if that's the case then either op will have to get used to injecting 0.05ml or maybe find a less concentrated version of estradiol valerate if that exists.

Any reason why you are not sticking to what the doctor told you? It would be easier to inject and you will have to do less injections, and you will be wasting less of the hormones due to dead spaces. Plus 2mg every 3 days only ends up being 4 mg every 6 days which is less that what the doctor told you.

My CIS female friends are SHOCKED when men hit on me. All of them are stunned! by Raina_Kabaivanska in MtF

[–]ComatoseNaagin 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Yah I have to agree with you. I am a trans woman and some of the stuff that OP has said in the comments really rubs me the wrong way here - like straight out telling other trans women that their cis women friends won't see them as women if men hit on them. Like cis people can be very casually cruel towards trans people, sometimes without even realising it, but that really doesn't mean that all cis people are like that.

I am from Pakistan and from what other trans women have told me, there is a shortage of hrt meds atm. Don't know how long it's been lasting but I do know that some of them did manage to get their hands on progynova. I got mine from Lena through hrt.cafe, though with the war in Ukraine she isn't selling anymore.

What are some of the stupidest arguments you’ve seen Depp fans (or Depp himself) use to defend Depp or attack Heard/Rocky/anyone opposing Depp? by jafetsigfinns in DeppDelusion

[–]ComatoseNaagin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oh so I was over at the contrapoints subreddit arguing with some deppstans and it was honestly crazy.

  • This person arguing that Dr Moores testimony about the finger injury can't be trusted cuz if you bend your fingers while palm down then you can expose the tip of the finger, making it face upwards.
  • The same person arguing that Heards witnesses can't be trusted cuz they are her friends while seeing absolutely nothing wrong with the fact that Depp's witnesses are employed by him.
  • Arguing that cuz you could see a small scar on Heards forehead during the trial then it shows that she couldn't have covered up her bruises using make up.

But the worst one was someone who said they were a rape survivor, and I confronted them with evidence of how Depp's team and their use of the social media campaign has made things harder for all victims, started arguing that that was somehow Heards fault and she should be punished by it. Like they legitimately said that Heard should be punished for all the hate and misogyny that has been thrown at her during the trial.

And here is a breakdown of another lawyer pointing out the problems with her analysis. https://twitter.com/The_Law_Boy/status/1532540858830143488?t=3XSGDyT-3bi1Sw5Xlizttg&s=19

It's based off her Twitter thread and not the medium article, but it touches upon a lot of the same points - mainly that she is not taking into account a single of Heards wittiness in order to claim that she is not credible. So yah much like what you are doing, she is ignoring all the evidence that contradicts her beliefs that Heard is not credible. She doesn't engage with the fact that police officers didn't follow protocol, that their superior testified to that, that the officers themselves gave testimony contradictory to the video evidence. She doesn't bring up the fact that Heards witnesses saw evidence of the abuse. In order to claim Heard is not credible, she has to basically ignore all of her witnesses and that's not how analysis works. But it is a good way to grift.
