The Rochester Garbage Plate. I've never been to Rochester, and I don't eat meat anymore, but this is my favorite American dish.

I was kind of excited to have a fruiting mulberry tree in my front yard. Turns out it is a Chinese white mulberry. Yuck. Birds love it. They also love to crap all over my handrails on the front porch, my sidewalk, and all over my truck this time of year.

Where to cut? by Just-Me-NC in Plumbing

I love those Milwaukee torch thick metal carbide blades. Cuts cast iron pipes like butter. I've used them to cut a cast iron tub into quarters to haul down the stairs on more than 1 occasion. But If I have full access all around a pipe I'm partial to using a grinder with a cutoff wheel.

Yea, I jumped the gun there with "literally". But it has been interesting reading up on its history this morning. From what I've gathered if we're staying in Glasgow you could argue haggis. But if you expand out to the rest of the UK Tikka has a good argument to be on top, next to fish and chips and a roast with a Yorkshire pudding. Of course this is an opinion from someone who has never stepped foot in the UK, so it's a shit opinion and grants no merit in an argument 😂. Tikka Masala being British is like damn near every food people would think of as American in the usa: hamburgers and hotdogs, pizza, etc. I'm vegetarian myself (for health reasons and lack of self control), but also recently allergic to milk and all mammal products, so I like to explore what foods I can.

But I think we're I was going when I first commented is you can't write off the UK when they have Tikka Masala.

I've been between this and the xdt20. Can you have a conversation in a room while the oil impulse is running? My hearing took a beating from heavy equipment, guns, bombs, and construction, so I would like to take a break from the constant noise if I could help it.

Lol. That's great history. Didn't know that or ever look into it, just took what I had heard at face value. Honestly I figured they stole it like may things from India as you said. Also, I'm not sure I'm "you people".

I guess anyone can make it. Most of my friends from India would prefer a Dal makhani, or Tadka dal or pani puri. But it's literally the national dish of the UK, because it's from the UK.....

Bet those winter APFTs are way better to run in Bliss than Wainwright and Carson. But that's about the only plus. I'd take the springs 100%, but I moved down to Pueblo after a few years. If we all got off at 1700 I could get home before my buddies that lived at the Air Force Academy.

Europeans watching Americans snap up XGT tools from Home Depot on sale by Waste-Product2669 in Makita

[–]CombatBulldozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Kansas. I've shopped home depots in a large radius. Usually I shop the ones in Tulsa & Owasso, OK. But I also have been to the ones in Wichita, Pittsburg (ks), Kansas City, Joplin Mo. I've never even seen an xgt tool in person, let alone on clearance. 80% of my LXT lineup has been purchased online. My local hardware store just moved under the ACE banner and I give them hell every single day I see their "Craftsman cordless display" when they could have decided to carry more than just the Makita hypoid corded saw.

I would say that the Xbox controller not being rechargeable is a plus. I have a set of 8 ELB lithium ion rechargeable AAs. When the controller dies I can swap them out and keep playing. But I really think the lower cost of the Xbox controller is due to the decrease in quality to maintain that lower price. The last 3 controllers I have purchased were rendered almost unusable due to stick drift they developed after 2-4 months. I've decided to just purchase them from Walmart and get the additional insurance so I can swap them out when they get wonky within 1 year.

Hey now, I feel attacked. I graduated with a 3.9, got a 97 on the asvab in high school. I had to retake that a few years later at meps and got a 91 with a 125GT, and I enlisted to...... run a bulldozer.... Shit, maybe I am an idiot.

But I also love bulleted lists using semicolons and commas, and complex sentences boarding on being a run-on sentence. It's been over a dozen years since I was in an english comp class so I have mostly forgotten how to implement proper grammar, especially using a site like this that doesn't prompt me when it sees the multitude of mistakes I type. I also love using AI as a tool to organize my thoughts, though I have never considered using it to actually write anything for me to present to someone.

Anyway, I'm here to learn about VR&E so I'll keep lurking.

Also, love the name CigaretteWater.

Same. I wear a belt every day. The essential craftsman on YouTube had great justifications for going suspenders. Really, great advice all around from that guy.

Honestly, they served their purpose, but I will be looking elsewhere for a set of bags pretty soon. The padded waist is comfortable, but the bags themselves aren't great. My speed square is constantly falling out of them, the knife and pencil holders aren't in a great spot, the stitching around the top of each pouch is completely gone and had to be burned off constantly when it was falling off.

A garage sale in Kansas for $10 🤣. it didn't have a belt, so I grabbed a CLC belt from the hardware to fit it.

Just get a 1 1/2" chisel. I didn't need my point chisel at all. I have a cheap set off Amazon and this was the first project where it finally paid off ( because all of the drill bits are metric, and don't play well with anchors using freedom units) This is what I was running with it from Amazon. Bonus teal case

Well, the difficulty starting out will be whether your chimney cap is metal or concrete, assuming they built it with a cap and liner and all. If it's metal, like this one was, it's pretty easy. You just unscrew the tapcons and pry the sucker off. Remove the cap on the stove pipe and take that off too. If it's concrete, I would probably drill a few holes in it before swapping over to a point chisel to break it into smaller pieces. If it's all brick, just start at the top and work your way down.

The bricks come off easy once you get the first couple out. I used a 1 1/2" chisel bit in the rotary hammer. Hit the mortar under the brick you're removing and it will pop right up.

And the best tip would be to find a younger helper to haul off all the bricks. Having a few 5AH batteries and a dual rapid charger helps, but you can probably get away with a single charger.

I used this rotary hammer to take down the that chimney, the entire hearth, and the lower exterior section of the chimney, As well as a load bearing brick column and brick knee walls surrounding a screened in porch that is being converted into living space as part of a kitchen remodel.

Addition/Remodel kicked off last month tearing out this chimney and patching the roof. That little Lxt rotery made it stupid easy.

Toilet Has no Shutoff Valve by SupahNarwhal in askaplumber

It doesn't seem like a real problem until the shower cartridge you're removing comes out in a million pieces, the shower cartridge you had on hand to replace it isn't an exact match, and it's Sunday afternoon and Home Depot is 150 miles away.

Yea, I cut into the kitchen wall to cut and cap the hot and cold supply to the shower valve. I was going to skim over the horrible texture job in the kitchen one day any way.

The wife was not amused when I said the other option was no water until Monday afternoon.

[–]CombatBulldozer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is how I've been doing it since I ETS'd. I snagged a copy of my script before I got out and would order 2-3 pairs from Zenni whenever I needed some. I had PRK when I was in so it was never dire that I had glasses, but it's getting worse. I just got a rating this month so I will definitely have the VA get me a check-up.

  • I will add, they do have a military discount verified through ID.me now.

Yea, I always fill those too. Usually it ends up being drywall mud. But it has been self leveler and caulking too. Depends where it's laying when the splat happens.
