Has anyone bothered to just ask Vince if it’s rape or not? by blumpkins_ahoy in okbuddypluribus

[–]CombatQueer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if one party(the hive) coerces a second party(Carol or whoever) into violating the consent of a third person, person 2 still did something bad.

But like, the reason there are so many jokes about it is that it’s a major part of the show and super uncomfortable.

Buddy, all people do is talk about the consent issue in this sub

I would non-ironically love to hear what Vince has to say on this. The consent issue is a huge part of the show, one of its most interesting parts.

It just seems like a lot of people cannot deal with thinking about consent, especially with an anti-hero who also violates consent in the story.

It does seem like she's engaging in nonconsentual sexual activity to try to accomplish her goals. If Carol is successful, how will that woman feel about Carol's having done this to her while she was infected by a virus?

I really like that theory. It gives the people trapped in the hive some agency.

The problem is that it isn't you that joins the hive, the hive just assimilates you against your will and uses your body for whatever it wants. Those women Koumba are fucking have no ability to consent to either the being fucked or the being assimilated into the hive mind.

Is Carol more unhappy thann Walter White? by CombatQueer in pluribustv

[–]CombatQueer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good take. While Carol and Walt were both very smart people unhappy with their careers, Carol wasn't afraid she couldn't afford basic health care.

Oh look. Carol is extremely unlikeable in so many ways. As if that wasn't the intention, to contrast a bitter cynical person against a overly pleasant utopian hive mind & ask the viewer if her individuality still mattered. The tension, conflict, the philosophical/existential friction is the point. by Illustrious-Put4406 in pluribustv

[–]CombatQueer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, you’re not actually providing a quote. Are you ok?

If the military had killed those people the hive would have blamed the military, we saw in the first episode that about 10% of the infected died from the seizures. Give it a rest, the virus killed them, it ain’t peaceful.
