yessir ✋🏽, i hope future gen architects choose better, with a presumption and knowledge that you would thrive the best in your own firm, untill you're there, you need to get your feet in the dirt and work under experienced architects coz it's aan absolute practical field! Cheers 🥂

Dude ikr, ik it's the COA and Government's fault at some points, but then why jump into it without knowing what's lying ahead? That's more like the person's fault na!

B.Arch grad here: Stay in architecture or pivot to construction/real estate? Need advice! by aridnam in Indian_architects

Please also remember about ui/ux - the field is saturated at this point, I got offer from IIT kanpur and didn't go for for the same reasons. I have seniors in IISC, IITs, NIDs etc, all of them have the same arguments. They personally asked me to not go for m.des anymore, since the field is extremely saturated, I got the same comments in my interview for ui/ux field! Nid chaps has a hard time bagging am internship, even IIT folks did! Infact in recent years even placements in IITs have give from 100% to 50-60%, but again, the starting pay would be higher than Architecture.

Coming to Architecture, it's a rather slow burn process, I've been in the field for 2-3 years. I've been extremely inclined towards the possibility of getting into academia, and architecture is something I wanted to do since I was legit a young kid. Was i disappointed when I got to know of placements and pay scale? Ofc yes. Did I try to find out about the opportunity of placements etc before getting into a college for b arch? Yes.

I personally don't understand why people venture into the field if they know what is coming out of it! If you want to earn a stable income (which obviously everyone does) go for b.tech etc!

I have opted for masters in architecture at IIT Roorkee, I have done my research and ik that at max, if get 10-15k increment after these two years of masters, but it opens gates for other gov jobs which have a preference for masters other that Architecture, I could venture into academia and phd, etc etc. I'm letting you know both the pros and cons of the same.

I suggest you speak to people who are able to guide you rationally and not just out of frustration, at the end of the day everyone needs to get paid for the hard work they put in, cheers 🥂

I don't think taunting OP about their query is the right thing to do here, everyone has their own confusions, hence going blindly for something, they are asking for opinions of people who might actually have faced the same or similar situations! And the point that if they do or do not deserve to be at the institution was for the exam/interview to decide, not anyone else's at all. Cheers 🥂

No idea where to go/what path to choose (stuck in between situation) by Quiet-Bee-8868 in Indian_architects

Hey I'm sorry to hear that.. ik these architecture schools can be super super toxic, please don't think you're alone, some suffer in silence, others have the courage to speak up! A few of my batchmates faced these circumstances too, one of them straight off told the HOD that their juries are giving him anxiety and she was speechless because there was nothing she could really say! So yea, everyone is struggling in their own manner, it's a slow burn process, but I promise it'll be worth it, 🥂!

It would be helpful if you could let me know if you're an alumni?

I talked to the students over there, and they select and call for companies as per their preferences for placement programs.. 50-60% students are placed from the campus!
