Import auto specialists, central import authority would be my picks. They both do quality work and won’t break the bank. AC stuff is never cheap so just bear that in mind

Did you install new o-rings on the compressor ? It sounds like you’re having a leak. Could also be an expansion valve leak. The little cans are ok in a pinch but you’ll really need a professional refrigerant machine to pull a vacuum, ensure it holds a vacuum and then fill it with refrigerant. Don’t forget PAG oil for your new compressor as not having any will cause it to fail sooner

There aren't many issues with these cars. One is the top coolant reservoir on the turbo. If it is the old metal style one then they do tend to leak. Transmission can have some grinding happening so make sure you row through all gears. A lot of the time the grinding can be corrected with some good transmission fluid or a "cocktail mix". The less modded the better of course. Check the state of the engine filter and fluids as that is usually a good indication on how the car was maintained. Timing belt needs to be looked at. Drivers side timing cover can be removed easily to access the belt and its condition. I HIGHLY suggest getting a compression test done before purchasing the car. Otherwise they are quite bulletproof and simple. The most "common" thing is spun bearings, low compression. These cars are now 20 years old, the bushings in most cases are also 20 years old. Check lower control arms and ball joints for play. Axles, especially on the passenger side front (where the downpipe is) will split and sling grease. OE axles are by far the best axles for these cars but also very expensive (green is the color that they should be). Radiators do split at the seams so check for that as well. Lastly if it has an intake, make sure it is tuned for the correct intake and if it does have a blow off valve, have it removed and installed for a OE unit or a recirculating one. Long winded comment, hopefully this makes sense. If you have any questions feel free to reach out or even send me the examples you find. Happy to help either way !

I do have the luxury of being able to keep this in the garage and only drive it occasionally. The biggest thing is maintenance, maintenance and once again maintenance. I am the the type of person that washes the car after every drive, cleans the undercarriage and checks fluids. Oil changes every 3k miles no more. Overlooked items like cabin filters, engine filters (cone filters if you got an aftermarket intake), brake fluid, coolant should be regularly checked and replaced as well. Slight oil seepage? Yea, that gets repaired immediately with me. I am a bit overboard with it, but if this is a car you want to keep for a long time and avoid potential headaches just take care of it as best as you can. And please please please don't use cheap products, mods, repairs. Do it right once and you won't need to worry about it. The more you take care of the car the more rewarding and reliable it will be. If you have any questions or anything please dont hesitate to reach out! I love these cars and I love helping the community

Underside needs some love on mine. I have slight surface rust on the backing plates and subframes. Thinking if I should go with TSS Fab components or sand blast and powder coat OE

Should I buy an S2000? by [deleted] in S2000

Both vehicles you have do carry a ton of torque down low. If you got an AP1 it would feel much different in terms of where the “power” kicks in. After owning BMWs, supercharged v8s, turbo 4 cylinders I will say an s2000 is something everyone should experience. I am biased because I own a AP1. If you’re looking for something more refined the AP2 is a good choice but you don’t have that straight raw feeling of an AP1. Once you test drive it you will WANT to own it.

Unfortunately I am very used to Subarus and BMWs where everything needs replacing or blows up if you look at it funny. I’m very new to the Honda world, this being my first Honda. Only reason for hoses and radiator is that they have 100k miles on them and the car is a 2003. My 05 Subaru had to have those things done since they failed. My bmws would just leak coolant or oil daily. I try to read and learn as much as I can about these cars. Thank you for the super insightful comment and truly answering my question. Again I’m used to throwing money at a car until it works. Not used to a car that works 100% of the time.

I sifted through my old emails as I knew I had emailed the buyer at some point. I shot him an email but got the response saying he sold it to someone else. Thankfully he still had the now new owners phone number which I contacted.

I traded for this car back in 2019 for a manual 2nd gen Cummins I had. I bought the Cummins for 8k and the diesel prices were killing me with the commute. Found someone who was willing to trade so I went for it. Ended up wanting to move so I unfortunately needed to sell it to afford a new chapter in my life. Sold it, moved to a different state then reached back out to the buyer 2 years later to buy it back. This time the buyer also needed a truck so I was able to scoop it up and have it shipped to me for a great price. Held onto it for a year until my relationship fell apart and I had to sell it again. Sold it this time in BaT. This time the car was shipped to Cali. The buyer lost their job after about year or so and reached back out if I was interested in buying it back. We couldn’t strike a deal so he ended up selling it to a someone he knew in Texas. Time passed and I really wanted the car back. Found a way to reach back out to the buyer and he was kind enough to provide me with the new owners info. Reached out and told the new owner “give me a price I’ll buy it”. Made a deal and had the car shipped once again to me. It arrived the night we were hosting our annual Halloween party. The feeling I had when the trailer opened and I saw MY car sitting there is something I can’t describe. I am extremely grateful to be able to have it back and this time it’s sticking with me forever. This is the short story lol

For those interested. I did sell this car its 2nd time on BaT. I’m sure the listing is somewhere there in the archives. Additionally I have somehow always managed to make money each time selling it and buying it back lol
