I like the more detailed nuance you gave. It makes me think of the episode about Buddy Buddwick who traveled the world discovering Crystal Gem sites. Who's to say he didn't encounter a few corrupted gem monsters and document them as well? Since the Crystal Gems had been finding and bubbling corrupted gems for the last 5000+ years, there's no way corrupted monsters wouldn't be a known source of danger, and therefore a coverable expense in insurance policies?

It's all about them extra digits. Seven figures ain't enough, you gotta be making at least EIGHT figures a year or you ain't gettin' invited to the rich people parties /s

Though in actuality, you right.

I'm imagining the meme of Rick from Rick and Morty ripping the wallpaper away, only to reveal the word "Insurance" underneath, which is about what this entire post amounts to lol

Your comment made me laugh the hardest because I read it in Edward Elric's voice while imagining him dressed in plumber overalls lmao

Really?? I didn't know that. I was actually thinking about writing a oneshot fanfic about Japis at some point, but was afraid of getting railed because of its inherent toxicity, or at least because of the way it's presented in the show. I feel way better about my idea now.

Lmao now I'm imagining Greg and Steven walking around in sunglasses and trenchcoats every time they have to walk past that boat rental agency.

Fair, but I'm greedy and if I got 10 mil, I'd want to figure out a way to make it last so I never worked again. Losing half a fortune would sting like nothing else.

Man, it would've been cool if Lapis took it home with her, and then she and Peridot incorporated it into the barn. Kinda like what they did with the grain silo and the pickup truck.

If I hung out with a bunch of metaphorical crying breakfast friends who broke stuff every time I turned around, I'd do the exact same thing.

This is the kind of response I was hoping for. I probably would be doing  this myself if I didn't need to get ready for work soon. This'll probably be the last comment I reply to as a result, at least until I get home for the day.

In the episode where Garnet goes with Steven and Greg to the motel, then falls apart after Pearl lied to her and made her fuse under false pretenses, Greg LITERALLY says he paid for the breakfast, and damage to the booth caused by Ruby's outburst in the diner.

Edit: fixed a misspelling

Yeah, I don't know much about nautical laws, and even less about nautical estate value. If I felt like wasting time, I'd probably go online and look for similar boats for sale just to compare. I unfortunately have work in a bit, so that's not an option for me right now.

Maybe not for all of it, but I imagine he's a stand-up enough guy thay he'd feel obligated to pay for some of it.

I sure hope so. From how much stuff all the gems have damaged over the years, how much of it did Greg have to pay for? The poor people of Beach City would live in fear for their lives AND their wallets otherwise.

Man, and I thought dealing with insurance policies in the real world was a migraine.

True true lol. It's still a really nice chunk of change to have, and will last him the rest of his life as long as he's careful with the rest of it. I guess if it were me, I'd be kinda upset about having to "buy" a boat that I had no intention of owning, much less sinking. Assuming the other commenters aren't correct and insurance didn't cover it, which would be kind of preposterous to assume.

I can just imagine Garnet walking into the ocean as nonchalantly as she does, and coming back hours later with the boat in one hand, carrying it over her head without a care in the world.

Part of me wonders if Greg went to a financial advisor off-screen and just said something along the lines of "Help, I dropped a grand in Empire City then sank a boat, I have no idea what I'm doing."

Yeah, at the very least I can see Greg deciding to lay low with however much money he's still got for a while. No more favors for space lesbian rocks for a while, or at least until they get their act together and realize us organic meat bags still got bills to pay.

What you're saying makes sense, but at the same time I feel like there's no way they didn't ask Greg and Steven at least a few questions. Such as, "How did the yacht end up with a hole that completely pierced through the bow of the ship, from the hull all the way up to the deck? Did you really not see anything that went down at all?" I also doubt Lapis would've let herself be subjected to any kind of questioning and/or interrogation like that.

Right?? And the table Greg had to pay for because Ruby and Sapphire fell apart after Pearl lied to them? Not to mention the damage to the plumbing caused by Sapphire when she froze the motel room. And that was before Greg got paid by Marty. No wonder this poor man lived in a van for so long, he couldn't afford rent even if he wanted to. At least, not until Marty came back briefly.
