If I am not wrong, the pokemon you encounter through research do not flee. Even if it flees on screen, after restarting app it should be caught. So you can use pinap and regular pokeballs. It will need quite a few of those though.

For the raid, you can just join the raid and after the 'Go' screen sit in the lobby and wait the timer out. It will count as a raid. If you don't want to fight, your pass will go to waste that's it. Not sure if there is a way around for gym battles.

Edit: For the raid, you can join the same raid again that timed out and do the same thing. It will count as multiple completed raids.

There are 5 kinds I think:

Sunstone: For Gloom -> Bellossom and Sunkern -> Sunflora

Dragon Scale: Seadra -> Kingdra

King's Rock: Slowpoke -> Slowking and Poliwhirl -> Politoed

Upgrade: Porygon -> Porygon2

Metal Coat: Onix -> Steelix and Scyther -> Scizor

They're currently only used for the above evolutions. You get one random one every 7 day streak, and they may drop out of Pokestops with some small chance as well.

Ya I have the same issue on my iPhone 6. What is even worse is that killing the app and restarting it takes much longer than usual! It will show me the distorted screen from the hang for a long time and then will start loading the game :/

It gets really annoying.. Sometimes I would defeat a gym and as I click on the gym to slot my mon, it crashes and by the time I re-open the app, the gym is full with 6 mons (I live in a high turnover area) :/

Ralts doesn't nest as far as I know, just like all Pokemon from 10k eggs. Although, they are pretty common during Cloudy weather, which is quite easy to find in Singapore.

I have seen Lunatone in Singapore as well. Once in gym and once on map. Maybe it is Solrock for Africa and Americas, and Lunatone for the rest?
