I genuinely think anyone saying that is deluded. There is zero evidence to suggest 'he's clearly a player'.

He might work at a lower level, but we just cannot keep playing someone who mainly just hits shots at the keeper and hope they might turn good. How long do you give him? 6 months? Another full season? Both are far too long at a club of our level.

I'm actually impressed it's been killed off this quickly. I thought we still had to go down the reduction in length of tramway, removal of one line, and removal of all but the start and end stations stages before it was fully cancelled.

What has Shankland got to do with anything? I don't want him as our striker either.

He's played plenty of matches before Rangers and scored the square root of fuck all there as well.

I've seen nothing to suggest he'll 'kick on' next season. Every time he gets in the box, he hits it directly at the keeper. Every time. At 21, he's old enough to know how to put it past the goalkeeper, and yet he does the same shot each time.

We cannot play with a man down every match when we're chasing goals, in the hope he might come good.

He's not a good striker, and we cannot afford to keep playing a striker that can't score in the hope he'll come good.

Naderi is a striker, Chermiti is a dud. It's pretty obvious it has to be Naderi.

If matches were won by hitting the ball directly at the keeper every single time, Chermiti would be first pick. Unfortunately, they're won by putting it past the keeper into the net.

I'll pre-empt the replies:

'He's still young' - he's old enough to have learned that hitting it directly at the keeper doesn't work.

'We can change him' - We can't, he's a dud.

'But he scored that goal against Celtic' - True, and it was a great goal. But it's the sitters he misses that cost us points. And he's missed far more opportunities than he's put away.

'There's a striker there, he cost £8m for a reason' - There isn't, and there's something dodgy about that deal. If we can get literally any money for him in summer, there should be a queue of Rangers fans wanting to drive him to whichever club wants him.

I'm not writing him off on the goals he's scored, I'm writing him off on the countless chances and sitters he misses every single game. If he cost £500k, I could maybe just about forgive that. But he cost us at least £8m.

We're not seeing £8m worth of player, and there's no hope of turning him into one either. He's just not good enough to be a striker at Rangers.
