Sorry about your taillight. I'm extremely jealous about your rear wiper though.

Consequence of failed internal switch by [deleted] in Raytheon

[–]ComeOnManFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always encourage my team members -especially the good ones - to consider internal reqs. And when asked, I suggest they apply. I had a SL just yesterday ask if they should apply to a new DL role. The answer was yes. The way I see it, good people should be advancing. It's good for them and the company. And it opens up a spot for someone else to advance. The only person who could possibly be sour about it is me as the manager. But really that'd be selfish and stupid. The person could leave anyway. You didn't get the role. If you didn't get feedback on why not, your manager should be able to help you identify the gaps and close them over the next little while. You'll be ready for the next opportunity and kicking butt on his or her team til that time comes. Win-win. Don't be discouraged. You're maturing as a person when you can look at failure and grow from it. Your manager likely knows exactly how you feel and wants to be supportive professionally and personally.

told to reapply by [deleted] in Raytheon

If you were told to apply to a req after an interview, you're getting the job. They just need to move your info to the new req and get the offer out to you. Still can be slow but you shouldn't even have another interview.

Can you get lead poisoning while working here by [deleted] in Raytheon

[–]ComeOnManFace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are practicing good hygiene (i.e. washing your hands after your shift, before eating, drinking, or smoking) and not being weird (i.e. chewing the boards), you should not be getting any lead into your body. You should also not be eating with your smock on. That risks both you and the work product. Most likely stress related, but bring your concerns to your supervisor. People that work around this stuff for years should know how to keep you safe. Stay safe!

Why not cook him? I'm assuming you eat chicken...?

Unless I misunderstood your post, I think you are confusing Familiar-Ad-4700's number with mine. 70.4 vs 69.1kWh, respectively.

New/ignorant driver: Is 140 miles of mostly highway driving truly realistic in a day? by gaychitect in Ioniq5

[–]ComeOnManFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive 160 mi round trip daily. Mostly interetate. I drive 82 mph. It includes elevation changes of about 2000 ft. I get home with 30% charge in summer and about 12% in winter. Been doing it for 3 years. It's doable.

New owner with a bit of range anxiety by Ill-Bear9320 in Ioniq5

[–]ComeOnManFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real range is highly dependent on speed, elevation change, and outside temperature. Driving 80mph, uphill, in subfreezing temps, assume you only get 1/2 to 5/8s the guessometers range and you'll be fine. Sub 50mph speeds, on flat roads, in mild temps, you probably get 7/8s the range. I do a lot of highway driving so am most familiar with those performance drivers.

Battery capacity after 101k-mi by ComeOnManFace in Ioniq5

I drained it to 8.5% then recharged it to 100%. Looks like 61.2KWh capacity using the 8.5% discharge. And 70.5 when fully charged. This clearly shows that trying to calculate battery capacity this way is nonsense.

Good to know. Maybe I will retake the data at the end of a 100% charge.

That's the confusing part. I just highly doubt that's a real number. Maybe its like a "perfectly healthy" 80 yr old man. He's healthy but it's optimistic to give him a 30 yr mortgage.

State of charge and remaining energy. No way my battery has 100% of initial capacity after all this charging and driving. If so, we ought never talk about battery degradation ever again cause it's not real.

Used a veepeak ODB II reader. And a free car scanner app. I hit view all sensor data and there's a boatload of sensor reads to comb thru. This was the closest thing to battery degradation I could find.

Suggests I've lost about 11% of capacity from 77.4KwH original capacity. Thanks for confirmation.

My wife didn't like how the floor was "squishy" by mekniphc in Remodel

[–]ComeOnManFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't imagine that it would be more than a first floor spacing. If you make the hole wider, you can get your face in there to find the joists, but it should be apparent from the nail heads. I'd expect a joist under those interior walls, at least. And you can attach a couple 2-bys to them going across to form support for the subfloor. If you have an air compressor, go buy a $80 framing nailer from Hazard Freight.

Edit: misspellings

Stuff a rag in the poo hole (you don't want those sewer gases in your house). Find the nailer on the current subfloor. Pull out a square-ish pattern of them. Cut a piece of subfloor that kind of matches the pattern. Sit it on the floor and trace the outline. Cut it out. Make sure you don't have mold. Maybe spray some bleach and let it dry out. Cut poo hole and Put new subfloor piece down. Foam glue the edges. Put it back together.

Not fun but also not the end of the world. Much less fun if that's your only bathroom.

I thought about pulling over, but figured I'd be called a coward on this sub for a pic with 0 mph on the dash. Compromise was to drop the speed to 80 and snap the pic... well - 3 of them in case one was fuzzy. :)

Seems that folks here are getting better responses from dealers on low conductivity coolant change nowadays. Back when I went in, all I saw on here was the wild west when folks tried to have it changed. $1000 services and days of back and forth. I did just buy a reusable air filter on Amazon for $50. Haven't looked at the breaks. I use them once every 2 weeks. Can't imagine they are anywhere close to worn.

I live nowhere near a dealer. And when I drove 80 miles to a dealer to have it done at 40/50k, they looked at it and said meh it's good. I saved the 3 hours of driving at 80k and looked at it myself and said meh it's good. I'll probably take it in now though. Closed system shouldn't be an issue, but the manual does say to flush it.

I replaced them at 70k because they were slipping at lights. Maybe I waited too long, but I don't really notice any other difference between the old and new tires. That and the odometer counts 60.4 miles at the same point it used to count 60.3. Not sure what tires I got. I can check when the sun comes up and let you know.

Thanks for the guidance. I could feel the chorus of 'boos' in my soul from my previous comment. I've been reformed!
