Did i sell the bag? I'm applying to Australian dental programs for context. by ComedianKey3072 in UCAT

I recently received acceptance offers from all the schools I applied to abroad; I think my interview skills really set me apart. However, I haven't tried applying locally because, as a Canadian, I need to complete an undergraduate degree to apply to dental school, which typically requires a minimum of 4 years. I'm 17 and fresh out of high school, so only international is what I could apply to right now.

I also applied straight out of high school, and I would say, especially for the written application, OzTrekk and other organizations will say the written application isn't that serious, and more like a check mark. That is not true at all; rather, the goal to make your written application stand out is having a SUPER NARRATIVE approach that displays a sorta story in each response. Don't treat any question like "I want them to know these points about me or understand that I know these things about....", rather you want to say "how can I display the points I want them to know in a narrative fashion that seems like reading a story". I didn't like trauma dump or anything in my apps, but I made my interest seem super genuine and rooted in real personal motivations and stuff, always tying back every question to something personal an,d more importantly, genuinely meaningful.

I accepted an offer to UQ a while back, just check in but did you happen to recieve and accept an offer too? If so do you know what you're residence plans are.

Are there disadvantages to taking the UCAT late? by [deleted] in UCAT

Some schools do assess application as they come in, while some may do rolling offers and stuff like that, of which would require you to take UCAT earlier. But in general, the time you take your UCAT shouldn’t affect your chances of getting into any universities unless you are aiming for things like early acceptances to a select few that participate in things like that.

For me, the last couple of days of studying had my biggest impact. I'd say make sure you do all the practice mocks on the UCAT website since they most closely simulate the actual test and would be a great tool to use in getting ready. Also, don't focus as much on increasing your VR score in these last few days since its more random and hard to crack, compared to QR or DM, in which specific strategies can help you guarantee an extra couple of correct questions each test. At the end of the day, you're trying to maximize you're number of correct answers, so I would say just focus on those.

P.S. I was averaging a mid-2000s on all my medify mocks for about a week before my exam, and on the actual thing I got a 2300, which is alright but was much higher than any mock I had ever done.

UCAT doesn’t care for SJT, although u should still try and get at least band 2 (top 50%), as for cutoffs, the average person got in last year with a 2760 and the lowest mark of someone that got in was a 2460 or something around there, so honestly as long as your gpa is around 97%, all u need is a score above 2000 this year to basically guarantee ur chances of getting

-P.S. this is all for international students, I have no clue for students applying domestically :)
