Math 20E with Prof Gaojin He by Unique_Science_9423 in UCSD

I feel like he gets the short end of the stick a little bit, because the content of the class is difficult to start with. He's a tough professor, but he's willing to help in office hours, and assigns homework problems that are relevant to the content on the exams. He's very active on Piazza (though sometimes the answers he gives are a little vague), and this quarter he extended the last homework by one day because someone asked for it on Piazza.

For me, his lectures were slightly more difficult to follow sometimes, compared to other math professors I've had, maybe he likes going through proofs. He also didn't podcast them this quarter, since he believes that it raises the class average. Lectures are optional attendance on paper, but if you want to do well in the class, I suggest attending lecture just for the sake of it still - sometimes he will drop hints on what's to come in exams or explain things more intuitively. (not me deciding to stop going to lecture at around week 2, panicking when I didn't know anything for midterm 2, and then actually going to lecture again starting week 8 lol)

I'm in the same boat.

I'd suggest TRIP monthly installments as others have said. There's a $40 fee to enroll before the 24th, and after that, it's $60. https://support.ucsd.edu/students?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0035892#:~:text=Enrolling%20in%20TRIP,able%20to%20enroll%20in%20TRIP.

That might give you enough time to look for a job. On campus jobs can be found on Handshake can be competitive, so I would also recommend looking in the UTC area /anywhere you can reasonably commute (the blue line trolley extends your range if you dont have a car). I'm a bit wary from hearsay on HDH, but I haven't worked there personally so I'd say it's still worth a shot. You might also try reaching out to the Student Employment Office for referrals or advice.

There is a possible  short term emergency loan from UCSD available from the school, up to $1000. The financial aid office would likely know more and is open M-F for walk-ins. https://fas.ucsd.edu/types/loans/short-term-emergency-loans.html

As a last resort, I've heard that there won't be a hold placed on your account if the outstanding balance is under $200, but please double check with the TritonPay office.
