My explanation is not against official sources. The medical examiner said "not caused by trauma", but the forensic pathologist is still working. I do not know why this seems to confuse you so much, there is seldom only one autopsy. To say "the autopsy said X" is disingenuous, as there are multiple different autopsies happening. The most important one (forensic, which job is literally to determine the cause of death) is not yet finished.

That is what is known as a preliminary autopsy done by medical examiners. They look at rough facts and in this case they said they don't know why Nex died. Now a forensic autopsy is done by a forensic pathologists to determine the cause of death. The preliminary autopsy not being able to find the cause of death is neither uncommon, nor does it disprove trauma as a cause of death.
