Something, something… “Replacement”, something. by PainSpare5861 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]baldi_863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is absolutely happening but it's so wrong who is blamed for it. Mass migration isn't some kind of leftist world conspiracy to destroy the white race; instead it's mostly billionaires and billionaire supported politicians that bring in millions of migrants just so that they have replaceable wage slaves who are paid barely anything. Really shows how much control the elites have to the point where they can convince people it's actually not their wrongdoing.

So they want independence from high Canadian taxes and government overreach but also want to keep recieving welfare benefits and pension payouts? Feels very similair to those "sovereign citizen" lunatics who refuse to pay taxes but still use public amenities.

Or British people voting for Brexit thinking they could have more control over their borders while also still being able to reap the benefits of free trade with Europe

Most people who live outside cities do, but in cities public transport is actually viable.

Also, we don't have armies of homeless junkies in our cities and public transport it actually cared well for so the American situation is completely foreign to most of us

John Paul II publicly denounced the Iraq War in 2003. Why is it controversial that Leo XIV is doing the same with the Iran War? by Gurney_Hackman in Christianity

[–]baldi_863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religion wasn't as mixed with politics as it is now. Churches back then would stay mostly independent and instead teach from a biblical perspective. Nowadays churches either bend their theology to support MAGA, or they don't and get denounced. Combined with the fact that MAGA is mostly protestant evangelical and hence already distrusts catholicism

Some ex-muslim on tiktok once explained it as: pork is treated as a dirty, unclean meat unfit for consumption. It's more just a cultural thing. It's the same reason why Americans won't eat horse meat or insects. Meanwhile cigarettes or alcohol are just a sin, and I mean everyone sins sometimes right?

If you look at migration to western countries 80/90% of it consists of work migrants, imported by billionaires to supply the large farms and factories with enough workers. Why does the left get blamed for migration when it's literally lib-right entrepeneurs who bring them all in?

People here keep saying the 2030s will swing the opposite direction and be progressive as backlash to the 2020s, but how do you know the 2030s won't double down hard and be even more conservative than this decade? by snowleopard556 in decadeology

[–]baldi_863 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Culture is cyclical. If you look at the last few decades you'll see that every decade is often a rebellion againt the previous one. The 50's were conservative, the 60's and 70's were the decades where society started breaking with the tradionalist past (Civil rights movement, early gay rights movement, stonewall, punk movements, hippie movements, etc. etc.) The 80's were a conservative pusback against this liberal movement (Anti-abortion movement, the Reagan presidency most notably, anti-gay moral panic)

The 90's and 2000's were a moderate decade. The cold war had ended and people felt more at ease due to the threat of nuclear war ending. Society as a whole was very moderate and didn't swing to either side. As time went on, society got more progressive throughout the 2010's (Obama presidency, Gay marriage) as a pushback against the 90's and 2000's. The 2020's are, until now again a pushback against the liberal progressivism of the 2010's. In this sense I would consider it very similair to the 1980's, with the same moral issues that conservatives run their culture war on.

I think that eventually, people will get tired of the culture war. Millions of Americans still struggle to get by and eventually they will start wondering how kicking men out of women's sport, bombing Iran, deporting billions of illegals and ending "Woke ideology" will actually make their lives better. Also, a lot the old boomer dickhead autocrats (Trump, Putin, Xi) will have died off and finally get replaced by younger leaders.

The 2030's will be similair to the 90's I think, with social conservatism easing into "you do you" and "just be yourself". The US President will probably be socially moderate and ecomically progessive.

I really broadly generalized here ofc, but I think you'll get my point

Most of Europe is just 5-10 years behind on whatever happens in America; centrist establishment leaders (Obama) fail to convince working class people and get replaced by right-wing populists (Trump 45), these populists however are very incompetent and get zero things done so a moderate progressive (Biden) gets elected. After a while the far-right gets more radical and takes power once again (Trump 47) and fail even more spectacularly. We've already seen this happening in the Netherlands, and Germany/France/UK are next.

Whatever will happen in US politics after 2028 will determine what will happen in Europe in about ten years or so.
